Amman, Jordan: A Walking Tour

In this video, I take a walk around Amman, Jordan. We’ll start at the top of the hill near the Amman Citadel and Temple of Hercules. We’ll descend the hill and wander through downtown. We’ll wander through some bustling streets and pass by shops, mosques, and restaurants. We’ll end near my hotel on Rainbow Street.

I didn’t really have any expectations when coming to Amman. I didn’t know anything about the city. I only came here to catch a flight out of Jordan.

I was pleasantly surprised. There are some spectacular Roman ruins in and around the city. Visually, the city is pretty stunning. Most of the buildings have the same design and color and they go on for miles. They are all beige boxes.

If you enjoy Middle Eastern food, Amman is a great city. I had the best falafel I’ve ever eaten here. It’s also a safe city. I walked around at all hours of the day and night and never wandered anywhere that felt sketchy. The people here are pretty friendly as well. I found that the salespeople are a bit less pushy than in other countries in the region.

The Jordanians also make their country easy to visit for tourists. When you pay for your visa online, you can purchase a Jordan Pass. This includes the entrance fee to most tourist sites, including Petra. This makes it easy and convenient to visit all of the main sites. There are also tourist buses between all of the major sites. I took a bus from Petra to Amman.

Jordan is my favorite country that I have visited in the Middle East. It’s a really pleasant place to travel. I highly recommend a trip there if you’re traveling in the region.
