The Paris Neighborhood That Feels Like Another World
[Music] bour and welcome to P I am in chatau Rouge now this is in the north center of the city in the 18th District I’m told that this part of Paris by some good french friends that maybe this part of Paris doesn’t feel as French as they would like it to be now I want to have a look around join me as I look around chatau Rouge sounds like a very Charming name does it but let’s uh let’s go have a look around chat Rouge and see what we can see so put it into perspective here is naadam Cathedral the center of Paris the Eiffel Tower uh the Arctic Triumph uh and then this is the gor this is where Brits who come from London travel into to get uh the euro star so when they arrive in the osar they arrive here and just up one little stop not far is shat L this is where I am right now okay let’s go have a look I decided to take a walk through shat Rouge midm morning simple reason if you came here late at night you’re going to get a very different perspective on the area shett Rouge is a microcosm of France’s biggest challenges overcrowded streets unregulated markets and the rising crime that blights this area is a far cry from the Paris most tourists imagine this is the Paris that the Japanese will have a breakdown over when they visit and they realize Paris is not quite what they imagined it to be this neighborhood obviously is dominated by its African Market culture it feels more like a separate onclave than part of paris’s capital it’s a prime example of failed integration policies where communities operate in isolation rather than blending into the fabric of French society the result is sadly lawlessness resident face rampant pit pocketing petty crime and the strain of an informal economy that undercuts local businesses and it’s not just an economic issue it’s a cultural transformation that’s left many parisians questioning where is the France they once knew so to put it in some perspective this District up until effectively in late early 20th century was working class District it wasn’t until the 1960s did this District start to fundamentally change as the the old colonies of France welcomed people or certainly the old colonies of France decided to arrive from the 1960s onwards they headed to districts just like this effectively changing this part of Paris as we know it if you were to come to London there are similar types of enclaves for example White Chapel in London back in the uh pre War days it was a very Jewish quarter now if you got a White Chapel maybe I should do a video on that comment below if you like a video on White Chapel just a brief walking of what we see uh it is now very much a Pakistani Bangladeshi area we have meats produce and uh well I don’t know if I would know apart from the apart from the old French acts here and there I don’t know Supermarket Pharmacy I don’t know if I would know but to back it’s it’s certainly an ectic area but let’s continue down the street I have to say it’s not an area I know that well but we’re going to we’re going to walk keep walking when I walk around neighborhoods like this in Western European nations for me it’s a stark example of what happens when policies meant to promote diversity fall short of fostering Unity it’s not just about these neighborhoods it’s about the Ripple effects across Western Nations overcrowding crime poverty and a lack of law enforcement create an environment where frustration grows for both the residents trapped in this chaos and the parisians who feel their city is slipping away now many will argue that areas like this are a result of years of neglects and fear fear of addressing tough questions about identity and integration what does it mean to be part of Paris part of France when parts of the city feel completely disconnected from the rest of the nation’s culture France has always been a nation with Rich identity deeply rooted in Tradition and pride yet places like chatow Rouge feel like forgotten zones my understanding as I did a little bit of reading up on this area and also asking some of the locals I met in the 17th last night who were telling me about the 18th saying that it is an area that’s started to gentrify whatever that means I think that effectively as Paris becomes more busy people to find places to live so because it’s a reasonable proximity to Center money has started pouring into this area but I don’t know you wouldn’t know it it’s a Shabby area the smell of fish and meat is in the air another meat place that’s kind of like the smell you can imagine sort of the meat smell of a butchers that’s what I smell at least right now there’s some people cleaning the streets because it’s a little bit uh a little bit on the sort of mes side thank God they are cleaning basically disinfecting the streets what I’m going to do is I have no idea where I’m going it’s not an area of Paris I know that well and I don’t want to be I’m going to turn the camera around again I’m not here simply rejecting diversity what we should be creating is a shared sense of belonging and mutual respect if we continue to leave neighborhoods like this go unchecked and we allow the mass importation of people who choose to isolate themselves shatar Rouge risks becoming a permanent no-go Zone not just for tourists but for the very residents who to call Paris home this is more than just an urban planning issue as well it’s a question of national identity and with France can rise and meet the challenges of the modern day world or staying true to its roots just really heading down a side street at the moment what is that a mosque I think it’s a mosque all these shops are African shops this is little Africa I’d suggest certainly not feeling very French what’s this one we got porer commentation with African science of fish shop from Africa head up this way I mean the the top of the buildings are actually very pretty if you look at the top they are very pretty it’s just down below that it’s all very shabby the floors are a little bit of a mess look around here another fish trop I mean to put it into perspective it is Wednesday it’s about 11: a.m. on a Wednesday so people are just going about their business this is a nice little bit we walking up and now finally the air starts improving there’s a bit of vegetation the smell of the plants is a lot nicer than the smell of rotting fish and rotting meat another another African restaurant just there another Meat restaurant I mean there’s a lot of meat restaurants around here it’s amazing I imagine the prices would be very competitive 1 kg 99999 just there competitive prices we got a vegetable place this is a nice to smell some vegetable places here got some bamboo you want some bamboo there you got P pandas in your family the bamboo there feed the feed the pandas more more meat meet everywhere it’s uh certainly a a lot of meat places and also another meat place Africa Bob and more meat just here now this is this a bit of fruit let me turn it this is fish Frozen products senagal promotions frozen food basically the African senales equivalent to to Iceland anyone knows Iceland keep walking turn the camera around again want some African hairstyles a bit over there are we in France I’m not sure oh the pigeon up here cross The Pedestrian crossing looks like a bit of a mark down here I selling peanuts more meat smell you can smell the smell of the meat chicken chicken I on it’s it’s very cheap it’s good mer I don’t know if I’d want chicken that’s been sat in a effectively A A Fish Box Greenhouse it’s direct sunshine call me crazy but how well refrigerated lot of meat what WR miss here no camera hi just just being tourist just tourist but Oba Oba no problem ah this this looks nice this beautiful fish here really beautiful really beautiful that’s a nice here lot of lot of meat lot of meat the meat L appealing the fruit I can get I could get I can get evolved to the fruit the fish there’s some good fish here really nice fish really nice but it’s you know we’re there we go selling the street W here let’s twist the camera around so we get some interaction see we get some interaction where are we it’s me filming me okay go like this your go like this okay okay just being [Music] tourist okay okay hello obviously the lady there didn’t like to be filmed uh this if you want to get to Mont Ms is not far from Mont Ms but here’s the thing they don’t want me filming people saying don’t stop filming uh you’re being filmed by all the CCTV people so what difference does it make if I’m filming very pleasant smell uh well we just did a quick Loop of monm station not monm shatow Lou station and now next I’m going to go to Mont M I believe neighborhoods like this are a warning of the consequences of when action is replaced by apathy the question now is Will Paris and France Take Back Control of their future or let neighborhoods like this drift further away from the heart of the nation anyway if you like this content click that subscribe button click that like button that was a brief insight into Shadow Rouge I’m not sure you’ll be visiting anytime soon [Applause] [Applause]
Take a brief walk with me through Château Rouge, a neighbourhood in Paris that has become a symbol of chaos and neglect. Located in the 18th arrondissement, Château Rouge is often portrayed as vibrant and diverse, but the reality tells a different story. Overcrowded streets, unregulated markets, and a sense of lawlessness dominate the area, making it one of the most challenging neighbourhoods in the city.
Streets that persistently have the odour of rotten flesh and bustle with vendors selling counterfeit goods. A lack of proper urban management and the social tensions that have left Château Rouge feeling like a neglected outpost. This is not the Paris of postcards or romantic movies. It’s a place where the city’s inability to address issues of integration, overcrowding, and crime is on full display.
Château Rouge serves as a warning of what happens when local authorities fail to take action. Far from being a thriving cultural hub, it feels disconnected from the rest of Paris, leaving residents and visitors alike questioning the future of neighbourhoods like this.

Go to see around barbes and la gare du nord! In compare that what used to see in your side!😅
This is sooooo depressing to see, I've went though France on my way to Spain, those wee cities I've went through looked gorgeous, mostly French ppl. If you want to see French culture then go to the country side.
For a different side of Europe i encourage you to visit Budapest. Its Central Europe, in the heart of Europe and I'm sure you will enjoy the architecture history and culture.
Cheers to you! Keep safe 🙏
Maximum diversity achieved: Zero white people.
Y cuando México empezaba a estar más limpio que Europa Sheimbaum empieza como en Inglaterra a poner leyes de censura
it's not racist to post this video
Incredibly sad!!!
Be careful!! Those people yelling 'no filming' could get violet! Appreciate the information although not sure what could be done about it. This crap is going on in many areas of Europe!
same feeling with London actually ….. but chateau-Rouge has always been "little africa" in Paris … even 20 years ago
Deport these people back to their homelands. Their manner of living is completely incompatible with European and French living.
You guys were in their lands once upon a time, taking their dimaonds and pearls and now they are in your lands, whats wrong with that?Besides they are working for you.
Well, the French used to colonise some African countries, just reverse it now
Import Africa and become Africa!
The poor parisians
i'm Japanese and wanted to go to England and France to see traditional historical English and French culture and society… But browsing YouTube videos i am shocked.. Why do you guys let the foreigners take over your country??? Please make Europe be European. Not Africa, Not Islam.. I think I will go my European holiday in Poland and Hungary instead
That's Barcelona right now.
Moscow and Petersberg are the most European cities. Warsaw and Budapest are close.
You imported monkeys, so why you are suprised that you have jungle now?
This is pure racism and xenophobia. France destroyed African countries during colonialism and they stole their mineral wealth which they still continue to steal even in contemporary period. France destroyed, Senegal, Cameroon, and Algeria to mention but a few. France gets its electricity from Benin and you all telling the Africans that they are degrading France, you must be the blind and ignorant person I know. Ibrahim Traore is telling the French to get out of his country. Lastly, French people do not integrate when they visit or stay in Africa. They eat French food and visiting French restaurant. We as Africans will come to France to take what belongs to us.
Year after another and as these people breed more and more they will start claiming it is their land and they have been existing there for thousands of years, just like some people of a country we all know did where you find their country the most diverse in the world at the time its citizens are just refugees from europe and africa and everywhere
its all the same in the uk as well.
😂😂😂😂 EUROPE IS SHIT!
EXACTLY THE SAME IN LONDONSTAN, PRESTONSTAN AND BRADISTAN….. FILTHY SHIT HOLES !!!
Dear French people, do you want to live in Europe? Come to Poland. We also have people of color, but all our migrants stay here legally. There is order and peace, and the economy is thriving.
Fucking disgusting!! All these people need to go home !!!!!!!!
I'm really sad to see my country like this…
Awful. What a disappointment. I still have not traveled to France, and now, I don't know ….
Policies, assimilation, we can argue these things, but it is up to the country (or should be) to control immigration and put a stop to his kind of mess before it gets a foothold.
Disaster!
woooow
I would not live there no matter how much money you give me.
Invasion is not immigration.
White people should go to.Russia for live. Welcome to mother Russia!
Man, its e actly like London! Don't know wich one is the worst! And both countries deserves!
So ghetto. Sitting on buckets on the side walk! That should be illegal. You’re not in your backyard! Same thing. I’ve come to Dallas it’s like little India. Went to puerto rico saw no puerto ricans. Saw mexican and black tourist everywhere. Went to England Birmingham it’s like I was in Pakistani Muslims everywhere. Where are the locals to all of these places?
send them all back
Hahah , these western countries stole millions from the East, now the west has become the Waste of the world 🌍 😂😂
