This week in France : a Paris jazz festival, late night art and the Festival de Cannes!

Hello and welcome to The Paris Plan. It’s the second week of May and we have a jazz festival, late night art, and traditional French cuisine planned for you. But also, we’re going to take you into the heart of the 78th Festival de Cannes. It’s the most glamorous film festival on the planet on the French Riviera. The Saint-Germain-des-Prés Jazz Festival starts today and it runs all week, providing the perfect soundtrack to these lovely spring days. There’s free concerts at the Place, Saint-Germain, and all around the neighbourhood. It’s the opening of the 78th Festival de Cannes on the French Riviera. It’s going to be a fantastic ten days. Juliette Binoche is head of the jury. On the red carpet, we’re going to see Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Spike Lee, Wes Anderson, Scarlett Johansson… It’s a star-studded year, as usual, and we will link all the official videos in the description. Have breakfast at Le Floréal. It’s a lovely chic and cozy bistro near Metro Goncourt. They have a terrific gourmond menu with coffee, croissant, three eggs, toast, juice, it’s so good, and only ten euros. So it’s a perfect way to kick off your day with a combination of vitamins, protein, and caffeine. Go and see Caesar! It’s an immersive show at La Cité de l’Histoire at La Defence. Plung into ancient Rome via magnificent sets and engaging performances. G o and check out the clubbing exhibition by the Grand Palais Immersive, which looks at nightclub culture from its underground origins until today. The interactive installations take place along the Promenade Plante and at the Viaduc des Arts near Bastille. It’s La Nuit des Musées, the night where museums are open late, some until 2 AM. Check out the programs, it’s free entry. There’s live music and lots of other special events. Lunch at La Fontaine de Mars. It’s a terrific classic French bistro near the Eiffel Tower, open since 1908. From their duck confit to their cassoulet to their creme brulee, it’s French comfort food at its best.
