Van Life Spain – Hospital Wasn’t On The Bucket List!!

With time quickly running out on our epic adventure, we keep van life rolling by continuing the search for our next epic beach spot. And life is really good until it isn’t Good morning. So, another day in Spain. Bit overcast today, but it’s still still nice and warm and nice. Can hear the sea. So, I’m just sat here having my breakfast as you can see there. Just admiring the view. What a way to start the day, eh? Absolutely lovely. See, Tai’s right back at the moment, but hear the sound of those crashing waves. It’s just Oh, it’s amazing. I do love the coast. But I also like the mountains. You get a bit of everything in Spain, eh? So, as he struggles to get He struggles to get into gear. Off to the next. The rain’s scheduled to come in. Feels like it is, doesn’t it? Yeah. Oh my days. We are uh moving on. Thank you. What is it? The rain has arrived in force. All right, I’ve dead locked the doors. So, one of us has do a runner and I lock everything. I guess that one is me. Yeah. Okay. I got my new shorts on my head. I’m going curly, right? Keep checking it down. There he goes. Let unlock the uh deadlocks and then I’ll make a run for it. Here we go. I can’t run very fast. I got the shot in me hands. You said you’re there fluttering your eyelashes. The state of this now. It’s just a little bit misty, isn’t it? It is starting to go down, though. Changing the weather completely. Oh, been climbing and climbing and climbing, didn’t we? Going up and up and up. Honestly, so misty. This is what it was like in um autumn time. So, at least it’s found this little spot park for night. It’s like a really small I would imagine beach car park, isn’t it? Yeah, but it’s tiny, isn’t it? It is tiny, but I doubt that anybody’s going to use it in the current weather we’re having. But I think this will do for the next night. Yeah, I think so. Maybe a couple of nights. It’s got three showers over there. Yeah. You want a cold shower? There’s one over there or three over there. You want a warm shower? Tough. We’ve got only a warm shower. Yeah. But if the weather seems to clear up a bit tomorrow, we might have a bit of a day on the beach down here. This is home for the night. And maybe a paddle if it’s uh calm enough. Yeah, we’ll see. But right now, it’s time for a cup of tea and cake. So, it looks like the rain is just easing up now. And me is cooking some dinner. What are we having, babes? We are having potatoes, jumbo sausages, and veg with gravy. I’m hungry. Just for a change. It was not too bad out there, is it? It’s clearing up. It’s dry. So, the rain’s come back in. So, we’ve locked up shop nice and snug in our little van. The wife’s going to have a glass of veno as a thank you for delicious meal. And I think we’re going to go and uh watch a movie on Netflix. So, I guess we catch you guys in the morning. How’s it? Another day. It’s a bit windy today. Actually, sun is out, which is a glorious thing. And the spot is actually a bit of a be now that it’s not raining. We can see it. I think it might be a little too windy to go paddle boarding, but we’ll see a bit later if the weather holds, which it should do. What a view. Look at this. Isn’t that glorious? The clouds are adding a little bit of moodiness today. Water as far as the eyes can see. Have to head out to the beach in a bit. Peace within the storm. Morning light so kind. Keeps my heart so warm. It goes for miles. Look at all the way down there. Right around the coast over Lisa’s head. All the way around. One huge huge beach. We won’t steam up to the end. Life isn’t worow. Watch it. Scrambling over the rocks like when we were kids back in South Africa. Looking all the rock pools trying to find some signs of life. Doesn’t matter how old you get, you still the child is hard on you. These rock pools are so clear, but really there’s just nothing. It’s like seeing enemies and everything in there. Proper proper. Having flashbacks to my childhood. There she is. More hair. Got some more. I might have a few goodies for you. Tada. Happy. Happy. Happy. Happy. Happy. Chappie. Larry. Who is Larry? Why is Larry happy? I don’t know. We should all be more like Larry. Yeah. Gosh, today’s turning out to be fantastic. going to get Lisa a swimming costume so that she can uh suntan on the beach for a walk cuz there’s a little spot just down there with the wind’s coming over the rock so it’s completely sheltered. So I think we have a bit of a beach day Oh, what a lovely spot that was. Just put the rubbish in the bin. So, we find ourselves at this lovely little cove here, which is really, really pretty. There’s somebody out there. Look, it’s got one of those electric foils. They’re like proper cool. So, we find ourselves at this little cove a few days later from where um we spent a really nice day at a similar cove and we had a really nice chilled day. Sean had been looking in some rock pools, seeing if he could find some fish, etc. I just chilled on the beach, had a bit of a walk around. It was really, really nice. Got back to the van to um have tea and settle down for the evening. Sean went into the drawer to get his cup out to make himself a cup of tea. And then with that he got an almighty pain across his chest. Um doubled him over. And well his words were he thought that was it. Game over. Um within about five maybe 8 minutes a second pain came across his chest and he went a little bit gray. So um we packed up the van really really quickly and I drove I think it was something like 30 km to the nearest hospital where he was taken in and examined and um it was suspected it was a heart attack which as you can imagine in a foreign country we didn’t even know where I was. It was a real real shock and you know for him well I can’t even imagine what he was feeling. All I know is that I was absolutely petrified. Um but thankfully all the tests have come back clear. The consultant has said that he needs to have some further investigations when back in the UK and asked us uh when will we be planning on returning. So we’ve obviously said we’ve got a couple more weeks before the end of our trip. Um but he has recommended that he get some further investigations. But his bloods, a radiograph I think they said it was called, and an ECG all came back clear, which is positive. But he can’t get over Sean can’t get over the feeling of sort of like that impending doom that oh my god, this is it. That’s how he felt at that time. So something needs to be looked at, I’m sure. Um because I don’t want to experience that again. And actually highlighted just how vulnerable we are when we’re traveling. It’s a different country, but he’s okay. And that’s the main thing. Um, he’s in the van at the moment editing the video uh this week or uploading it for this week. So, we’re going to move on shortly, find somewhere else to go. But this is a really nice location and somewhere nice that we’ve just been able to switch off and um chill for a few days cuz he needed that. Um let’s go in and see what what he’s up to and I can show you that he’s all okay cuz he is. Let me show you. Good morning. I’ve caught him getting changed. Let me just give you a different view for a moment. You can watch matey boy on his foil. Oh, he’s standing up. Oh, and he’s fallen in. Yeah. Let me show you. Just been explaining what happened in your trip to the hospital. Yeah. It’s a bit scary, isn’t it? Yeah. Very scary. But yeah, it’s one of those moments in life again where you just reassess everything. So yeah, and we don’t know exactly what’s going on, which is also a pain in the backside cuz uh I said you need further investigation. Yeah, we’ll have to get that done cuz sort of the second scare in three years and both types things have come back um all clear. So yeah, we’re going to have to have a look cuz I’m only 50 this year and I I don’t do this nonsense in my life. But yeah, that’s what happens. Eh, thank God I’m still here. So all good. So I went down to the beach and I met up with Louise who’s the father of the guys out e foiling. He got his two sons Pablo and Morgal and they’ve been uh e foiling for I think they said two two and a half weeks. Um, so fairly new to it, but they’re owning it. So I spent a good hour just taking some photographs, which I’m going to send over to them. We swap numbers. Um, and I think I got a bit of drone footage um, of Pablo, I believe it was. But yeah, lovely, lovely family enjoying life near the seaside and uh, having a stoked time. So, after what’s been a rather eventful and unexpected week, and with the return to the UK looming just around the corner, France beckons us for the final stretch of this adventure.
