The Best Food in Faro Portugal

Good morning. It’s the next morning after a very sunny day yesterday. You can probably tell by my hands on my face that we sat in the sun a little bit too long. We realized we were getting burnt towards the end of the day and we moved into the shade. Some cream off somebody. Only for the one arm that was in the sun. I might. You might not. And I’ve been having a bit of a snotty nose this morning. I’ve got a bit of a cold. You can probably tell by me voice. But hey, we just go past uh Faroh United. I’m not sure what they’re called. Not sure what division or league the plane, but we off to try and find the municipal market. Supposedly sells meat and fruit and veg and clothes and everything. So, we’ll see. It’s a little bit windier today, isn’t it? Yeah, it is. And a bit cloudier, but it’s it’s warmish, especially when you get out of that wind. So, probably getting sunburnt as well. And last night through the night from around from about 4:00 a.m., wasn’t it? Yeah, really good. Really noisy. It was uh rocking the place. Well, we finally found the market. It wasn’t that far away from our apartment, but the microphone has decided not to work for some unknown reason. It’s really annoying. But this market was just fantastic. I always say the word fantastic, but I do mean it. It was lovely and clean and the smell was amazing. The fresh fish doesn’t smell like monkey old fish. You can tell that it’s fresh. And there’s all kinds of stuff for sale here. All the different types of fish. And you can even get a little alien as you can see there. I’m not sure what they were at all, but this is the fish department. And uh there’s loads of other stuff as well. I think it’s the fruit and veg department on the other side here. But it was the uh little sort of custard tarts that I was looking for. But I can’t get over the size of some of the fruit and veg what they have over here. And all around the outside as well, they have different sort of cafes and bars and stuff like that. Should we go and have a look in one? See what there is. I know upstairs as well, they have uh banks as well. That’s what it look like anyway. Right, let’s go and have a look. See what they’re eating. She with a warm mind bakery. Ah, this is what we’re looking for. The custard tarts. Now, this woman who served us, she was really nice. She was uh trying to give us all advice about how you eat them and uh telling us which are the best ones. See these ones that have got the burnt bits on the top. She was saying they’re our favorites. So we says, “Well, if they’re your favorites, then that’s what we want.” So she showed us what you do. You you peel the top off like a scab. Don’t eat that top bit, though. She got rid of that. And she said, “The bit underneath is delicious.” I can’t remember exactly how much it was. It was about three quid, I think. Something not too bad. This is the cheese store by the looks of it, though. I did think it said meat at the top. I don’t know. Oh, there’s the meat on the right hand side there. And uh yeah, loads and loads of different sort of stalls here. And uh what have we got? Oh, yeah. This is the uh the lady who does the repairs as well. Flowers. out you want. Get yourself to this market. It was really brilliant. Ain’t milk brilliant cod. We haven’t tried this. I’ve never tried it. I really do want to try it. It’s um salted cord, isn’t it? Ah, here we go. You know the big massive veg we were on about. Look at those tomatoes. I wish we could get them over here. I’ve just started to grow me own snails if you want them. I’ve never tried them either. Bad winkles though. They can’t be much different, can they? Well, that’s just about it. I think we’ve walked all the way around, haven’t we? Look at the size of these fish compared to Brenda’s little hands. That fish is about the size of one of Brenda’s legs, if not bigger. And the swordfish really amused me. Brilliant display, isn’t it? So, this was the Macad Municipal, and I would definitely recommend a little visit there. Right, we’re going to head down into the town now. See what’s occurring today. I’m sure it’ll be pretty much the same as it was yesterday. I think I stopped at this little place here because I just like the look of it. Don’t know why. We were talking about, you know, would a week be too long to actually stop in Farro. Uh, a lot of people just use it as a stop off to head off to other places on the Algav. And I think, yeah, that’s probably what we would do if we were stopped near a week. We’d head up and down the coast. The trains are supposed to be really good. And we went to the train station and and that looks good. That’s coming up. And that the buses apparently are really good as well. So we had to walk up and down some of the streets we hadn’t been to before. It was starting to get a little bit rainy, a little bit spitty. Not enough to bother us northerners from England, but the locals, every time you got a few drops, they were pulling the chairs away and getting out of the rain. This guy was trying to persuade us to come into his bar. Uh, it’s a lovely bar. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t go in there, but we just weren’t ready for food yet. We’re just investigating. I always feel a little bit guilty when you when you say no. But £1250 for the meal of the day. That’s not bad. £1250. These prices aren’t too bad either. You know, they go from uh €3 up to about €17 there. It all look nice. There’s plenty of people enjoying the stuff. [Music] [Music] I thought this tiled area in this shopping precinct was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t get over it. I wouldn’t have fancied being the one who laid them all mind. Wouldn’t have been good for your back, would it? And I know because I’m a trained behavior. Oh, this was fantastic. I haven’t seen a shade that had been knitted before. Definitely a new one on me, that one. Come on then. Let’s get into the town. We need a beer. It must be beer time. Oh no, not Ali Up again. She always wants to go in Aliop. She’s been in hundreds of them all over the place. And it’s always the same old tat in there, which usually ends up buying stuff. If only there was something to keep me interested. Something like, I don’t know, a dancing crab or something like that. That would make it all worthwhile, wouldn’t it? Or even a floppy gorilla. That would do the job, wouldn’t it? It’s Yeah, it’s definitely a bit floppy this one. I think I need a bit of Viagra. Anyway, on with the shop. No dancing crabs here. Oh, it was that time when we got to eat our lovely custard. Oh, I’m going to taste a little bit of the burnt stuff just to see what it’s like. Uh, it’s a little bit bitter. Don’t think I’ll be eating that. As some of you may know, I have been doing Slim and World and I have lost about two stone. I need to put a bit more effort into it. But I remember telling the lady who runs the Slim and World that I was going away to Portugal. And she said, “Don’t forget, make good choices.” Well, I think I did make a good choice. I don’t think it was a good Slim and Wild choice, but it was a good choice for the taste buds. These are absolutely beautiful. And this little sparrow on the side of me, he definitely wanted to have a go, too. But there was no way he was getting any of that. Ah, it must be BO clock again. It’s surely it’s after 5:00 somewhere in the world. Anyway, I had a pint of superb and Brenda had a pint of sangria. I’m not sure what strength the sangria is, but it is absolutely beautiful. Of course, back in our favorite, the 100 montitos. And uh yeah, everybody else seems to uh like it as well, don’t they? By the looks of it. Well, this is the day we’re supposed to be going out on the little boat trip, but it’s not looking too good. It’s very windy. I don’t know if the uh the microphone might not be picking it up cuz it’s got the uh dead kitty on, but believe me, I mean, look at Brenda’s hair. It’s blowing all over the place. It’s that windy it’s blowing our eyebrows off. So, we’re going to have a look, but I don’t think we’re going to do it. We’ve come along the pier and it’s blown an absolute hooligan. So, I don’t think we’re going to bother. I think we’ll go along over there. See what them boats are. Too cold. Not too cold. Too cold. Little too cold. We’ve just been chatting to a lad at the end of the pier there. He’s lived in Portugal since he was a young boy. And he was we were just saying how friendly everybody is, how friendly the locals are. We’ve just been sat at the table, you probably see, with two two young Portuguese girls, and they were just super friendly, weren’t they? Very friendly. And you go to some places and that the locals can be a little bit snotty. But here, yeah, I just moved some glasses and plates and she got like hand sanitizer. She go, “Do you want to wipe your hands?” And I I was like, “Oh, yeah.” Did she have a like posh English accent when she said it? Did she? No. Well, you said, “Would you like to wipe your hands?” Did I? It’s the wind. No. Right. So, instead of going on the boat, apparently I say boat funny like boat. boot. Very northern. We’re going to go and have a look and see where the train station is and the bus stop where you can go on little trips all over the place apparently. We could come down and get a bus and go to the airport. It’ll be 2 or3 each. But the price of the Uber is only about 8 or 9 anyway. To be honest, we’re just going to get an Uber because it’s a 20 minute walk down to with our bags and that. So yeah, I think Uber all the way for now. So this is the bus station. It’s just along the literally just along the road from the marina. Not far at all. A couple of minutes if that. And this looks like the train station as well. We’ll go and investigate, shall we? Oh yeah, there’s a train in there. Let’s go and have a look. where you get your tickets. Quick look inside. [Applause] I want to go and see the train. Well, there’s more platforms than I thought there was going to be. So, I think like this this line here looks like the local one to see a little cafe. Oh, yeah. A nice little calf there as well. So, there’s at least six platforms. I think if you were stopping here a week, then you would definitely be jumping on the trains, wouldn’t you? Oh, yeah. Other islands up and down to explore the Algav. It has the printed timets, too. Ticket machines. So, as I was saying, you know, there’s loads of these dilapitated buildings and these are right on the seafront. So, who owns these? And why are they like this? Come on, guys. Shape up. Get them turned into something. Weird, man. Just weird. This one’s for sale. Make a cracking little gaff there. Right opposite the vets as well. Bit of a do uper, but you know what the hell? Great building. I’m just going to rack the road, isn’t it? I’m going to selfie stick on and stick the camera in so we you can have a look as well. Let’s have a look [Music] in what’s it been? You know, I mean, it is a bit of a do uper, like I said, but surely somebody has the skill and technology to do it. All right, I think this must be the proper entrance to the bus station. We’ve got a map here showing you where you can go up and down is the buses going out. So, yes, I’m definitely in the right place. Lovely little lady in the ticket office here to help you out as well. So, back for a couple of jugs of sangria. And look at these prices. Are you no wonder we keep coming back to them. This sun was in and out all day. We just stopped out in it. I just said, “Look, it’s only going to be spitting a little while. We might as well just stop out in the sunshine. We’ll soon try off. Had a little bit of tapass there. That’s cheap enough. It’s not the best in the world, but it’s cheap enough. We It’s a great place for just sitting here and watching the world go by. And the Starks as well. They’re fantastic. I can’t get over the size of them. It’s amazing. What’s going on here then? Let’s have a look. Ah, more alcohol. We’ve had enough. Come on. It’s time to have something proper to eat and to go to somewhere else from the apart from the 100 mados which is our favorite. the booms only because of the price. Yeah. And you get good measures and everything, don’t you? It’s liing up a bit now, isn’t it? It is. M nice smells. There’s a kitty cat. Seeing it up. Big massive cat with sunglasses on. Oh yeah. You’re looking for a real one? Yeah. Oh, here she is. €6. They are cheap. It has to be said. I really could have done with a hat earlier on. Maybe we’ll get one. Let’s go and have a look. Yeah. Brilliant. Yeah. Is it real or plastic? No, it’s a plastic. Plastic outside is a real one. But this is a plastic. Nobody eating it then. Yeah. But there were lots of. So, we’re just going to have a little look down here. Apparently, it goes all the way through. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Look at the beautiful uh bar. All the lovely drinks down all the way through. It’s very nice. Lovely toilet. Now, I think there’s even an outside. Oh, look. Lovely lemon trees, orange trees. What a beautiful little area. And of course, you’ve got the the outside part as well where the drag you’re in. But that’s all right. Does look a lovely place, doesn’t it? We’ll go and find the old woman. Let’s see what she’s ordered me. I think we’re going to be having the grilled steak. And I think Brenda’s going to be getting ve No, I’m going to be getting vegetables. I better be. And she’s going to be getting some healthy option. This sounds and these old drinks coming. Oh yes. Super. It’s the best drink in the world. Yeah, it’s nice. I like the um summersby cider as well. That’s very nice. There we go. Where you from? Uh northeast of England. Yes, it is. Yeah. Yeah. So good. We love it. But everybody has been super friendly. Yeah, the locals very nice. Even the young kids, everybody’s been very friendly. Normally, you better. Thank you. So, this is what we got. The Super Boach Stout. That one was undrafted. This one’s in the bottle. Smells like stout. And does it taste? It looks like stout. Does it taste like stout? It’s quite light really. I was expecting it to be quite heavy. It isn’t. It’s not that light. It’s quite nice. Let’s open it. More like mason. Yeah, it’s really nice. I like that. Yep. I don’t like it. That will do. You don’t want a heavy one when you’re having a meal. Ching. Cheers. On fries. The gorilla one. Thank you. That’s for you. That one is a little bit less. Nice. Well, this snacks, all right, I don’t know how to use the pork properly. I always do away this. That is beautiful. We’ll come back at the end, see how much we’ve eaten. Well, that’s one steak down and one to go. Normally, you would just get that, wouldn’t you? But we’re getting like we had two each. Absolutely beautiful as well. Like Brenda just said, one of the best meals you’ve had, isn’t it? Yeah. One of the best meals we’ve had. Not just yet. We’ve all done this place. I don’t know what it’s called. I’ll have a look when we go outside. What is this place called? Two brothers. To Portuguese. That’s the name of the restaurant. I give you a visit. Thank you. It was very nice. Thank you. Hello. You’re a pretty girl. We got the beer. €37.90. That is I’ll put the price up for dollars. And uh sterling as well. I don’t think that’s bad. It was absolutely beautiful. You can’t complain at that. Definitely if needed. Right, that’s about it for tonight. We’ve had a fantastic day. It’s been a lot better than we thought it was going to be, hasn’t it? Been really good. I’ve enjoyed it. Yeah. Weather’s been a lot better. We’ve had the odd little bit of rain, but it’s only been bit of drops here and there, but it’s been through the night, thunder and lightning and airplanes taken off in the rain. You just seen one land in the background there, but yeah, it’s been lovely. We’ve met some lovely people. Uh they were cocknies, but they were all right. No, they were lovely. And uh we met some a couple from Sunland. We met a couple from Nottingham. And we met a young girl from France as well. She came and sat with us. She was lovely as well. So brave to be on her own, but we looked after her. So yeah, we’re back now. Anyway, we’re going to have a little cup of coffee, watch a bit of YouTube. So that’s it. We’ll see you in the morning when we’re heading home. Night night. Bye-bye now. Night night. So this is the shared kitchen that we’ve got to use, which is great, isn’t it? It’s got everything you need. We’ve got our own uh space in the fridge, beer in it, of course, and some chips or fries. It’s got a microwave. It’s got a oven. It’s got a kettle and a coffee machine. Nice and clean. What more would you want? Well, it’s our last day. We’re just about to leave. We’re getting an Uber in 3/4 of an hour and it’s absolutely tossing it down. I think we had the best two days of it. Look at the state of this. That’s not thunder you can hear. That’s the planes taking off. Hopefully they’re all right. Oh J. Look at the state. Not sure what that tower is over there. We did find out anyway. Oh, we never did go to that graveyard over there either. Well, we’re all packed and ready to go. One last look around. Make sure we’ve got everything. I have discovered that you can get YouTube on. We watching that Silver Fox guy. And uh you do get Netflix as well. Actually, don’t sign in yourself. It’s already signed in by somebody. So, I think that’s about it. We’ve got One little bottle of cider and some coke left to go away with. So be too bad. What do you think, Bren? Have you enjoyed it here? Yeah, enjoyed it. It’s only half 10 in the morning. We have to be out the apartment in about 25 minutes. And we just go through the fridge, see what was left, and uh found a little bottle of the summers bees. Well, we don’t want to waste it, do we? And it’s absolutely beautiful, this stuff. I thought it was English, but it isn’t. Apparently, it’s uh Portuguese or whatever. wherever super box made. Anyway, it’s lovely. Not too well, is it? Yeah. So, this was your entrance hall. There’s a lovely Brenda posing by the door. Not bad. Right, we’re going. Come on then. That’s us kicked out the apartment. We’re just going to go and find a little bakery, find something nice and slim lighting to have before we get to the airport. And it’s clearing up a bit now. And it’s not cold. It looks cold. This would be cold in England, but it’s not here. It’s nice and warm. But I need one of them little custard tarts. I think breakfast brisket. Delicious. What is interesting about some of the shops and actually one of the bars we were in as well, you don’t hand your cash over to the people behind the counter. They have a little machine on the side. So, they put the amount in and then you just put your money into the machine and it dispenses the change as and when needed. Oh, we found these little frog with some chicken. [Music] The taxi driver was a nice young lad, wasn’t he? He was lovely. He’s lovely. But what he did do was he he had some uh English money. He wanted us to exchange this. We were like, “No, is this a scam or is it fake English money?” So, we kindly refused. Anyway, it was probably fine, but I don’t know. What do you think? Is it a thing? So, this is a pineapple one, the cherry on top. So nice and so slim. No. No. So, we’re just in the uh departure area. You can see you’ve got all the gates all around here, but of course we don’t have to go through them. So, it’s a big old airport, isn’t it? It’s a slightly bigger than where we left at T-side airport. The weather’s improved a little bit now. It’s stopped raining and the sun’s shining and it’s going to be gorgeous for the rest of the year in Portugal. Apparently, it’s a bit weird when we’re coming through because it said zone B, which was for the UK, was that way, but that took you directly to the passport control. Well, this is zone A where all the shops are and the bars and such, but I’m not sure if we’re supposed to even be in this area. I don’t know. Bit weird. 465 for a little slice of bread. Don’t think so. So, like I was saying, it’s in zone B for the United Kingdom. We have to go off down here for all the G3 and stuff. Is that unless there’s some more this way? I don’t know. I don’t think there is though. It just looked like it was passport control. Maybe it’s because we because of Brexit, we’re not allowed to go through duty-free and such. So, you actually get a duty free once you’ve come through passport control. Who would have known? So, weirdly, you come through passport control and then we’ve got all of this. I’m sure it’s not normally like [Music] this. Oh, yeah. There’s plenty here. Where did you see your Burger King? Did you say Costa? All kinds of stuff. The gates are just through there. Weird. And an Irish bar. I We need lunch. Do you think we should have a Burger King? That’s nice and cinnamon, isn’t it? A tiny little thing. There you go. Brenda’s chose as well. I think that one’s as big as a nearly. It says there’s a beer garden upstairs. We haven’t got time for a beer, but I’ll just take you up. Let’s go and have a look. It’s not outside. I was expecting the outside garden. It’s nice, but it’s not exactly outside, is it? Well, I think this might be the first time ever in the history of the world that we’ve actually got a seat on the bus that’s taken us to the airplane. So, this is the point where we have to say goodbye to each other. Brenda is going to the back. I’m going to the front. But hopefully we get on last and see if there’s any spare seats and I’ll shower her down if there is, but you never know. Bye bye. Well, we did finally managed to get sat next to each other after a bit of cuff with one one guy objecting to it strongly, but we got there in the end. Not really sure what his beef was, but yeah, I think he wanted the full scene himself, but he wasn’t going to get it. [Music] I’ve never had like this in my uh ever when we landed. We’ve obviously eat this. I’ve got a bit of a cold start. [Music] Thank you. First one off. Oh, it’s cold. Why didn’t I put me jumper on? I don’t know why I was expecting it to be warm in the UK. for it’s absolutely freezing cold. Hey, our lovely friends Steve and Mandy are coming to pick us up. And a massive thanks to Andy who brought us through on day one. This is future self talking now, but we forgot to record Andy, but he’s a good-look. Well, that’s it. Another holiday over. So, thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed it and we will catch you next time wherever we are. Say bye-bye now, Brent. Bye-bye, Brent. See you later.
