The baroque three-wing complex was built between 1720 and 1780 by order of Johann Philipp Franz and Friedrich Karl von Schönborn based on a design by Balthasar Neumann. The magnificent building complex is a very fine example of late baroque architecture and one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Germany.
