Japan Tag 2025 in Germany, Best Japanese Festival in Düsseldorf! 4K-HDR 60fps Walking Tour

Welcome to Japan Day or Japan-Tag / 日本デー in Düsseldorf, Germany! This annual celebration is the largest Japanese cultural event held outside of Japan, and in 2025, it took place on May 25th. Every year, Japan Day draws hundreds of thousands of visitors, including otakus, manga fans, and Japan enthusiasts from around the globe. Join me as we explore the event from its starting point at the Landtag to the other side.

Despite the persistent rain this year, the festive atmosphere remained vibrant. Around 380,000 people braved the weather to take part in the celebration — a lower turnout than in previous years, but still a strong showing of support for the long-standing friendship between Japan and Germany. The event featured a rich program of cultural offerings and entertainment, including traditional music and dance performances, cosplay and karaoke competitions, manga booths, origami and calligraphy workshops, kimono fittings, karate demonstrations, Japanese board games, and of course, an array of delicious Japanese foods like ramen, karaage, and takoyaki.

The highlight of Japan Day – shown in the seperate video linked below – is the spectacular Japanese fireworks display. This year’s show began around 11 PM and lasted for approximately 25 minutes. The fireworks theme of this year was “Experience Japan – A Night Sky Full of Magic”.

This 4K-HDR 60fps walking tour was recorded with high definition binaural audio.

  1. アニメ、コスプレに偏りすぎてるという意見も見たけれど「人気」には勝てないですからね。
    思ったより年輩の方も参加されてるようで驚きました。文化体験的な感じなんですかね。
