We Were Blown Away by Kuala Lumpur First Impressions from Ex It This Way
Hi, we are Lisa and Jim, an ex-husband and wife team that have reunited to explore the world together in our retirement. Our channel is about discovering hidden gems, embracing the unknown, becoming immersed in the cultures, history, language, customs, and of course, cuisine. Of course, this all sounds lavish, but we will be doing this on a budget. So, come along with us on our journey, and you may just give out with a giggle. We’re so excited to have you come along with us as we stand in awe beneath Koala Lumpur’s iconic towers where steel touches sky and tradition meets modern wonder. We wander through this vibrant city tasting the spices of Malaysia’s melting pot. Serve bubbling hot and clay pots and sizzling on cast iron. We wrap it all in sweetness with rich chocolate from Gdiva and end our night where water, music, and light come alive beneath the Patrus towers. This is Koala Lumpur. Bold, beautiful, and full of flavor. Lumpur just landed and they have some pretty awesome. Air Asia play some tunes. I thought it was somebody’s phone. They got the tunes going. Yeah, they got rocking tunes. So, we’re always in this dilemma. We get off the plane, got to get a SIM card, got to figure out if it’s Uber or Grab, get money, get money, and get to our hotel. That is the next task. Someone always over. [Music] We have to see if they have our MDAC cards on file. Oh, yeah. Oh, and got to go through customs. Customs. So, we’ll see you on the other side. It took about 2 seconds to get our SIM card activation through this hot link we just got as soon as we got out. One we’ve ever done. Yeah, that’s the fastest one we’ve ever gotten. And now we’re just here going to get some money and then um the stewart has told us that grab is the way to go here in Pol. So that’s what we’ll look for next. [Music] Oh me now. Come on Keith sing along. I’m so me now Keith. Well, that is an absolute first. What? We’re at 1,000 subscribers. We are. We are at 1,000 subscribers on our Instagram. Now, if we can just get all of those people to come over and subscribe to YouTube, we’ll be making it, man. And our friend here had to go pee. That’s the first time I’ve ever been in a Grab or a cab and they stopped and go to the bathroom. God, I love this place. He’s awesome. So far, first impressions of Malaysia. Modern roads are beautiful. Sense of uh security. Security, sense of home. Sure. I felt safe as soon as we landed in the airport. And it’s a it’s beautiful. Yeah. First first of all, oh man, it’s nice. See, we get to our hotel down by the towers and go from there. has been serenating me this whole taxi ride. [Music] Keith plays really good music. Keith’s a good DJ. He’s the best DJ. Keith is my friend in Malaysia. Right, Keith? Well, this tower is called the Maka, the tallest tower in Koala Lumpur. It’s a hotel. It’s beautiful. All right, we have arrived at the Holiday in Express. Thank you. Thank you, my friend. Thank you. Thank you so much. Very nice to meet you. Thank you. See you tomorrow. [Music] Okay. Hey. Wow. Happy Chinese New Year. There’s our Lumpor. Oh, we got to go over here. City center. It’s beautiful weather. Wow, we’re right in the downtown core. My tummyy’s growling. All right, let’s see what the members get. [Music] Bathroom. A shower behind the door. Oh, yes. Behind the door. We’re used to the shower being in the same all in the same room, aren’t we? We got a little closet for free coffee. Oh, back to our good coffee. Coffee and water fridge. Nice big bed. Oh, and Big Jim’s got his TV.Oop. Okay, we’re off to find the towers. Get a look at them at night. I think they’ll be beautiful. were supposed to be some kind of light show. Known as one of Malaysia’s most popular landmarks, the Koala Lumpur Tower, KL Tower, stands proudly at 421 m in the heart of the city. It offers a spectacular view deck located at 276 m that boasts a gleaming view of the city, which makes it a well-loved tourist attraction during the day and night. Healthy Healy Max Irish Bar and Restaurant. Well, that looks busy. The Irish bar is busy. Irish bar is always That’s why I love the Irish bar is always Well, folks, this is K Lumpur and here are the famous Patrino towers. They’re unbelievable. They’re stunning. So beautiful. But crazy how much it takes your breath away when you walk around the corner. Rising 88 stories into the sky, the Patrina Twin Towers are more than just an architectural marvel. They’re a symbol of Malaysia’s dreams, reaching new heights. Once the tallest buildings in the world, these twin giants stand proud in the heart of Koala Lumpur. joined by the iconic sky bridge, the highest two-story bridge on the planet. But what makes them unforgettable isn’t just the steel and glass. It’s the way the city lights reflect off their surface at night. How the fountains below dance to music and the sense of awe you feel when you look straight up and can’t see the top. For us, it was a moment of stillness in the chaos of travel. A chance to reflect together on how far we’ve come and how high we’re still dreaming. Whether you’re gazing from the observation deck or just catching your breath in the park below, the Patrinus Towers remind you the view is always worth the climb. You’re enjoying this video, please like, subscribe, and share. Okay, let’s go see if we can go up to the top, folks. We’re going to see if we can go to the top and check it all out. Pretty amazing. Slight little drizzle. Man, the way this place just lights up is crazy. So beautiful. It say Oh, Phil Harmonic. Dwan Phil Harmonic Patrino. So, we came into the building to see if we could get tickets to go up. So, today is Thursday and they say they have nothing till Tuesday and we are leaving Tuesday. So, oh well, next time. It’s pretty beautiful. I heard it’s expensive to go up there anyways, but I wanted to go see it. But if you have been in here and you had the opportunity to go up, please let us know in the comments exactly what your thoughts are. Put a picture in community there. Yeah. For the comments if you could, please. Thank you. So, there is a mall inside these towers as well when you first come in the front. Just having a tour around here of Gucci. Have you ever had white chocolate? love white chocolate. Oh, I do not like white chocolate at all. I like milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Let’s see. Thank you. Okay, give it a go. [Applause] No, you don’t like it. So good. These lines delicious. We’ve decided we’re going to eat here at the hot plate and plate hot chicken. This is our food here. Just making very good on the fire. Oh, mushrooms. I think he’s going to put chicken on it. Oh, a little bit of lettuce. And it’s done. And I’m telling you, I can’t wait to taste this. It looks so good. I got the spicy one. You got the nonspicy one. Yeah. Let’s give it a go and see. Yeah, it’s spicy though. I hopefully yours is spicier than mine. Is it good? It’s really good. Yeah, it’s really good. Let’s see. That’s I think it had chicken, didn’t it? Chicken and mushrooms. Never think mall food’s going to be very good, but this place looks really good, actually. Oh, it’s super good. Nice. As the fountains rise and fall beneath the shimmering Patrina’s towers, we were reminded this world is vast, diverse, and breathtakingly beautiful. In the heart of Koala Lumpur, where steel and water dance together, people from every corner of the globe gather to share a moment. No matter where we’re from, what language we speak, or what dreams we carry tonight, we are one. A celebration of connection, of wonder, of the stories that flow like water. Unique yet all a part of something greater. So let the lights dazzle, the water rise, and your heart open. Because even in a world of differences, there is always something that unites us. This is more than a show. This is a reminder of how beautiful we are together. As we say goodbye to Koala Lumpur, we’re off to Butterworth by bus, then catching a ferry to Georgetown Paneang. There we’ll rent a scooter, ride the finular, hunt for street art, and eat at one of the island’s most famous street vendors. If you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe and share it with your friends. Paneang is up next. You won’t want to miss it.
