Just walking around and exploring the beautiful city of Melaka and I can’t help but notice a lot of places smell of a certain something, and apparently Malaysia has the penalty of unalive for it? 0.0

Seems to be true? But is it really? Or is it an outdated law that just hasn't been updated? In the UK handling salmon suspiciously is very illegal, old laws still in effect but never needed 😂
Weed is considered to be a drug in Malaysia. iirc, it's like it's on the same classification as the Schedule 1 classification in the U.S.
The death penalty is because in the late 80s to 90s, we had a really huge drug problem here. So the government made it so that possession of such drugs can get us the death penalty to discourage the act to obtain and to do dealings of Schedule 1 drugs.
