Yesterday I visited Bonn, which is one of Germany’s oldest cities, founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC. It was the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990 and remained a political center after reunification. Bonn is the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and home to the University of Bonn, established in 1818.
