I Saw the FIRST Preview of HERCULES the MUSICAL in London! 2025

hi everyone how’s life and welcome back to another one of my videos Welcome to a theater vlog where in this video I’m going to be heading into the theater dream lane where you can see behind me and go to the very first preview of Hercules the musical here in London Yes today is the 6th of June 2025 and I’m so excited You can see the iconic theater real Dreamy Lane here right now with the marquee for Hercules the musical It’s currently about 20 minutes past 7 The show should be starting in the next 10 minutes or so So I’m actually going to start heading in soon But I did want to quickly have a look at the cast that’s going to be on today So it says that this performance we’ve got Hercules played by Luke Brady and the rest you would have seen It went very quickly So we’re going to check that out later We’ll have plenty more time in the interval For now I’m just keen to get in see the auditorium and watch the first act of Hercules the musical And that was a very quick ticket check We are already inside I’m seeing a little photo opportunity over there Of course we’ve also got the shop to check out All of this will be coming up in the interval It is very exciting to be back in theater The last show I saw here was of course Frozen the musical that ran from around 2021 until a few months ago So yeah now we have a brand new Disney show in the theater and it’s actually just been extended until March of 2026 So hopefully it’s going to be a hit I have high hopes for it I’ve got my ticket over here I’m in row B35 in the Royal Circle So we’re heading up and I just love this theater The theater of Roger Lane is so grand and beautiful It’s also one of the biggest western theaters out here So let’s hope that Hercules does well Hopefully it can maintain its popularity for the next year or so But yeah the Royal Circle is just over there I cannot believe that I’m about to head into the auditorium now and watch the very first preview of Hercules the musical here in London I honestly I’m so excited I’ve been waiting for this for a long time I bought my ticket as soon as they were released I want to say So it would have been at least 6 months ago I think Hi there B35 Perfect straight down to row B right hand side Okay thank you so much Thank you And here we are in the Royal Circle heading down to row B which should be the second row but look at the curtain for Hercules Oh I love it It looks amazing doesn’t it And I’ve got my seat right over here B35 It’s an aisle seat I did it on purpose And this is our view We have a fantastic view not obstructed whatsoever I actually generally prefer being in the royal circle or the dress circle to the stalls because I feel like you’re more at the same level as a performer So yeah really looking forward to this It’s only about 3 or 4 minutes until 7:30 when the performance is meant to start But as you can see there are still people call coming in So as is expected I feel like with the first preview the show is going to be a little delayed but obviously I’m excited anyway But because the show should be starting soon I’m going to put you guys down and speak to you next at the interval See you then Okay so we’re at the interval I have many thoughts but I’ve enjoyed it overall the first act I’m going to go and have a look at some of the merch for now and then talk about my final thoughts at the end of the show Yeah so far it’s been pretty good Heading back down these royal stairs here with a beautiful carpet to have a look at the shop I did want to show you some of the items they have here already The teddy bear is absolutely adorable I love it The outfit is so cute They’ve also got these Hercules mugs with the logo here These are tote bags Am I correct Tote bags Okay And then like a little throw as well Blanket Little blanket And let’s have a look at this Oh it’s an ornament Twoin one ornament and metal set That’s cool So that was just a stand over there Shout out to the lovely staff members here The main shop I feel like is going to be much busier but we’re going to attempt it If we can’t get through everything I’ll come back at the end of the show and have a look again It is an extremely small space with loads of people Like it’s honestly impossible to even walk around or even move a step forward right now But we have some items here So you can see the price list over there There’s a muse pullover £55 There’s a backpack £40 And a water bottle The water bottle is £25 already significantly cheaper than the bejeweled water bottle that they were selling here for Frozen which I believe was about £50 You can see the water bottle a little bit better over there It looks pretty good actually It’s got like a matte feel to it And then the backpack we have over here Love it Disney Hercules the electrifying new musical A reasonably sized backpack I would say And this was £40 You can see some images of our incredible Hercules up there which I’ll talk about later But I wanted to quickly show you the pullover as well So that’s all right Um it’s a pretty subtle one this one but nice feel to it I would say These are tote bags that we saw earlier Again these are very nice I might have to get one although I have too many tote bags And then here is where you can place your pre-orders if you want And wow there’s a spirit jersey We’ll definitely have to check that one out I already love the fact that it says London on the front I want to see what the back says though Let’s have a look Okay this is nice In gold lettering Disney Hercules the electrifying musical And you’ve got the logo over there as well Yeah I really like this Nice color nice design The mug of course we already had a look at Looks pretty nice They even have Loungeflies Okay this Loungefly looks stunning Absolutely love the colors of this Disney Loungefly Let’s see what the back says Yeah again it says Disney Hercules the electrifying new musical on the back These are very nice It’s a good thing I don’t collect Lounge Flies anymore but this is definitely a nice one We already had a look at the teddy bear up there Oh they’ve got like a nice zipper there the bag and again all the prices So the spirit jersey is £65 and they’ve got the sizes available from extra small to extra extra large The mug £22 fleece blanket £40 Hercules plush 38 That’s the bear that we saw £85 for the Loungefly The tumbler is £30 We’ve got the Hercules logo tea £35 then the tote bag is 15 But yeah these these teddy bears these are the £38 bears the plushes but I really like their outfits They look very cool And then this is the t-shirt that I just mentioned Again a very similar design to what we’ve seen The color is blue and then you’ve got the Hercules logo The electrifying new musical and yeah looks pretty cool Also enjoy these bags here These can be travel bags So zero to hero on one side Whatever go on the other side Hero in training That’s pretty cool You can actually also probably act as a gym bag if you want The duffel bag I just showed you is priced at £50 They’ve also got an ornament 35 Clouded keychain £12 A column key chain £15 And then the cutoff hoodie £55 So this over here is seems to be the cutoff hoodie So there’s no sleeves I don’t know what I’m saying I’m I’m overwhelmed There’s too many people here And then you can see the medallions over there Oh the keychains These are so nice Oh I like this I might have to get one of these actually So you can see those other keychains up there Those look also cool Equally cool with the mug But I think personally I prefer these ones over here And I think these ones were £12 So a little bit less expensive than the £15 ones Look at the amount of people to pay I think there’s one last section for us to have a look at which is just over here These are the prices for everything we’re about to have a look at So there’s a t-shirt a bracelet in love journal charm bracelet and then charm necklace This is a bracelet as you can see Then you’ve got the charm necklace over here I like them Some cool looking charms on here And then oh I love this one The journal I won’t say I’m in love Meg’s famous song which I’m looking forward to hearing in act two Yeah it’s lined paper inside Some nice designs as well I love that Then we’ve got the t-shirt in purple which has Meg on it and it says no saving needed I really enjoy that In fact I may have to buy it And on the back you do have the Disney Hercules new musical logo And I believe that’s more or less it There seems to be one last section on the other side which I’m not going to attempt to go and have a look at right now I’ll come back to the shop after the second act But yeah so many options But then again Disney musical You always get some great merchandising with them I would like to maybe get some photos with the sign here It says “You’ve gone the distance Welcome to the first preview of Hercules.” It’s very cool They’ve got a few going on here But for now we’re going to head back up to our seat because apparently there’s only 3 minutes left before the second act Where was I going This way Yeah there are still so many people just chilling in the lobby and the shop which stresses me out personally So we’re going to head back to our seats Look at that sign Drew Lane got a beautiful curtain with Hercules And I have to say my seat I’ve been very happy with I think I paid something around £75 which is definitely not inexpensive but for an aisle seat and an incredible view like this I’m very happy And it’s also important to note that we are in preview still This is the very first preview of the show It doesn’t actually officially open until later in June I’m going to love you and leave you now though because second act should be starting any minute now So I’ll see you afterwards [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Woohoo Woo Heat Heat [Applause] [Music] Heat Heat Heat up here [Applause] Heat Heat [Applause] Oh that was so good Okay well the show has just finished as you can probably tell by the audience slowly but surely leaving at the auditorium It is 2142 So quite a short show but then again most Disney shows tend to be a little bit shorter than your average western musical because they want to cater to families and children as well younger children Now I am going to share my thoughts later on but I have to say I think I preferred act two to act one So after act two I feel a lot more energized a lot more positive about this show and feel like I can recommend it more as well Act one was fine but yeah act two really made me enjoy it more But yeah this is it I’m going to spend some time taking photos Make sure you follow me on Instagram and when we get out of the auditorium I’m going to share a bit more of my thoughts And this is so cool They’re giving out free pins for the first performance It says 6th of June 2025 Thanks for being among the first I’m guessing first people to see our show Something like that I can’t see cuz it’s under the pin but this is incredible I actually have to thank one of my lovely viewers who I just bumped into Mercedes who told me about these pins And also I bumped into a few other of my lovely viewers as well So Louis Adam and a couple of other people that I met Thank you so much which is always a joy chatting to you and I hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did The shop is still pretty busy but I wanted to quickly show you this last section and I think it might be one of my favorites I mean look at the design here So these are magnets and they are £15 each You’ve also got the mugs over here These are £35 but they look stunning Like these are quite big mugs and I love the level of details on them Very nice And then you can also get the blanket over here priced at £90 And if you want to have a better look at the design this is what it looks like It looks incredible I have to say And apparently it’s pre-order only So if you wanted you have to make a pre-order I did purchase myself a program which was £7 I got it from one of these stands outside but I kind of want to get a tote bag as well just to put it in So I might see if I can get that before we leave the shop and talk about my thoughts Got the tote bag This was £15 The program was £7 So all together I spent about £22 today obviously without the ticket itself And you can see the sign here that says “Please be aware that filming will be taking place in the front of house areas and auditorium during today’s performance.” Which of course does make sense It was the very first PB after all But we are now as you can see leaving the auditorium Oh look at that Hercules I am so glad that I saw act two And I’m normally an act one person when it comes to almost any musical I prefer act one to act two I feel like it’s very rare that I I see a show a musical in especially where I feel like both acts are equal in terms of quality in terms of how good they are and even more rare where I feel like a second act is better than the first act And for me at least for my first viewing for the first performance for the first preview of it here in London’s West End I thought the second act was stronger than the first I do want to quickly show you the cast score So Luke Brady was our Hercules Talia Candace Cleo Charlene These are obviously the muses It doesn’t stay for not too long So we’re going to wait for it to come back so we can go through the rest of the cast very quickly But these are all the technical people as well Behind the scenes front of house we’ve got Phil Trevor Dion Nicholas who I absolutely love Zeus Joel Benjamin Oh it’s going to be too difficult for me to go through everyone So I think I’m probably just going to put a photo when I talk about the cast That’s exactly why I bought the program too Just so I can look through everyone properly and see their head shots and everything Oh yeah Before I forget I also wanted to give a big shout out to one of my lovely viewers that I met after my previous shout out which was Debbie Debbie and her lovely family It was so wonderful meeting you Here is one more quick look at the theater theater royal dream here in London’s Coven Garden In the dark now that the show has finished you can see the Hercules marquee over there And I have to say I’m enjoying the flames up there I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not Maybe maybe they always have them in the summer months but I feel like it might have something to do with the fact that Hercules is currently playing in this beautiful theater Also here’s a better look at the pin I quickly opened it up cuz obviously it’s got plastic on it so I could fix the pin so that you would be able to see exactly what it says It says “Thank you for being among the first to join our Pantheon,” which is very cool Now I have popped back into the shop because it’s much quieter now and I wanted to show you firstly all these magnets and oh there’s a pin too Oh my god do I have to get a pin Feel like I might have to buy a pin too I didn’t see the pin earlier but yeah you can see everything much better now The magnets the keychains and also there’s a hoodie over there which is currently only available for pre-order You can see it over there And it’s a Hades one I think from what I can see It looks pretty cool though So yeah This is what the shop looks like currently Still some people here but not nearly as busy as it was earlier And also this gives me the chance to show you the details at the top of the shop as well Look how cool that is with the lightning and the clouds That is pretty incredible You honestly miss out on all these details and also being able to look at everything you know in a relaxed manner when it’s busier So I would actually recommend maybe doing your shopping either an hour or so before the show starts cuz I think they do open the theater doors about an hour or so before or just do what I did and come at the end but we are going to leave the theater for the second time now They do have another entrance exit to the shop apart from the main gates of the theater if you would prefer to do that But I think we have now gotten to for some of you maybe the boring part of the vlog where I’m going to probably talk about five or 10 minutes ramble on about my thoughts on the show and for some of you it might actually be interesting Okay I’ve set you up somewhere right in front of the screen that constantly moves around from the cast list to you know the notice about the filming and photography and then the behind the scenes people the backstage people So if the lighting on my face changes from time to time I’m sorry It’s the best I could do I also want to give a shout out to the lovely security people here who were like “Yeah absolutely fine If you want to set your camera up here don’t worry about it.” But when I went back to the shop obviously I’d already bought the program and the tote bag which you can see over here Very nice very colorful But because it was quiet now I had a you know a closer look at everything and I ended up buying that t-shirt as well So the mech t-shirt the purple one that said I don’t need saving or something like that I got it in a size medium in case you care It’s somewhere in the tote bag I also ended up buying a pin the pin that I didn’t even know existed until about half an hour ago And also the keychain the cloud keychain that I really like All of these things are in here In fact I am just going to show you because we have a little bit of time here There’s the pin that I got Very nice Obviously this is in addition to the free pin that we were given very kindly by Disney This over here is the t-shirt which I just love I mean I love what it says I love Meg as a character especially from the cartoon itself We’re going to get to the cast later but yeah I love what she stands for I love her character I think she’s so funny I love her song And I really like this t-shirt as well And I also enjoy the details on the back which says Hercules a new musical And then of course I also did get the keychain one of two key chains that they’re selling This was £12 The other one is £15 And it’s basically one of the what’s the word I’m looking for One of the columns one of the stone things You would have seen it You know what I mean But yeah let’s quickly talk about Hercules the musical the brand new musical here in London’s West End Although it’s not necessarily completely brand new because this actually started its origins I want to say back in 2019 in the US off Broadway and then it did another stint in New Jersey in 2023 Then it went to Hamburg in Germany where I feel like it’s still currently performing I might be wrong though And then now it’s made its official western debut obviously here And I say official obviously this was only the first performance first preview performance I should say So please bear that in mind as I mentioned some of my thoughts because it’s not actually officially opening until later this month I believe on the 28th of June So they have a couple of weeks still to you know change things and things might change probably will change by the time you come and watch this if you come after it officially opens But Hercules a very beloved ’90s Disney film from 1997 One of my favorites as well I have to say because I grew up in the ’90s I remember watching quite a lot It’s a very tough film I feel like to adapt on stage And I think that was one of the big problems from the get-go It’s not easy because there are so many animated things and creatures in the movie in the 1997 film that Yeah you know you really have to think outside the box to kind of try and create something that makes sense on stage But I feel like with that being said they did overall manage to do this successfully Oh lovely to see you Nice to see you Oh my god how was Tokyo Also worth noting that’s a Friday night so there might be a lot happening behind me And there’s actually a bar over there So it’s a very noisy place I might get distracted as I talk Making this even more of a ramble but I’ve just seen this lovely photo of some of the cast which is nice I thought worth sharing Anyway let’s just talk about things that I enjoyed about the show because I don’t want to necessarily go into negatives too much What I enjoyed were the sets I thought for the most part were very well done They used the screen as well but very cleverly So it wasn’t just screen work There were actual physical sets on stage as well which I appreciated And they worked very well together It was very clever at times So I think the set work was done very well I like the costumeuming too I thought that was nice The light work was done very well The music of course we all love I mean it’s Alan Min and I enjoy that So there’s nothing to say more about that The cast as well I felt like overall were good We’re good I didn’t have any major problems with anybody My favorite moments I have to say were the muses but then again that’s not surprising I feel like the muses as a whole were probably one of the easiest things to get right because in the animated Disney classic cartoon from 1997 the muses are also humans for the most part I mean the muses but also it’s not too difficult to try and adapt them on stage if you know what I Whereas Hercules Pain and Panic Hades himself which I feel like I had one of the biggest issues with even though it wasn’t bad overall And in act two I felt better about his whole performance and how it was done It’s just difficult right It’s difficult because they’re very exaggerated features and features and animated characters in the Disney movies So it’s just never going to be easy to adapt them on stage But yeah the music I absolutely loved Anytime they were on stage I was having a great time Everybody was enjoying it They were brilliant I’ve mentioned a few times now that I preferred act two to act one And I think I have to probably tell you now one of the main reasons that I preferred act two was was Hades Because whilst I was pretty unsure about how they had decided to portray Hades in the adaptated stage version of Hercules in act two there was a moment and I don’t want to spoil too much but there’s a moment where you know they use more than just the actor on stage and the costume to try and portray Hades And I thought that was very well done It’s a lot of puppetry but in the best way possible So I really enjoyed those scenes I thought it was beautifully done Great light work great puppetry And I couldn’t have thought of a better way to present that actually personally in act two So yeah really well done with that I would like if we could talk about the cast a little bit So here we have our Hercules and Meg Hercules was played by Luke Brady who had a fantastic voice a lot of charisma as well I really did enjoy his performance Then Meg was played by Mayan Jolan I really enjoyed her as well I felt like I kind of wanted a bit more from her And again this is only the first preview I’m sure things will change and she was definitely not bad by any means There were so many moments that I really enjoyed her I just I don’t know I felt like I could she could she could be a bit more fierce with her me She could be a bit more oh I can’t be bothered with love There was just something lacking I felt like she was a little bit robotic at times but she had a beautiful voice and again I’m sure that she will get phenomenal as well as time goes on Hades was played by Steven Carlile and he really did the best he could with you know what he has he was given and the fact that he had to play this like I said exaggerated extremely animated Disney villain on stage as himself So I thought he did a great job He was you know villainous He was quite funny at times and in act two it was fantastic Then we have Pain and Panic who were played by Craig Gallivan and Lee Zarrett Charles and Bob I should say They were pretty funny but again obviously if you’re used to animated film then Pain and Panic are not going to be portrayed the way you think they might So that’s just how you how it is when it comes to stage versions of Disney films It’s always going to be different They can’t just have like an extreme animated character on stage But there was actually some costumes as well for some of the creatures some of the monsters some of the things that Hercules has to fight off They were like full-on costume characters and they were interesting I’m not sure how I feel about those I think the last person I want to mention right now because I don’t want this to be too long is actually Phil who was played by Trevor Dion Nicholas who you can see here his wonderful headsh shot Now I’ve seen Trevor in quite a lot of shows actually over the past 10 years I think I first saw him in Aladdin which was at the Prince Edward Theater He played the genie and he was phenomenal in that I saw him a few times in that actually And then more recently I saw him in Next to Normal which by the way you can stream it You can watch the the film version of Next Norm One of the best musicals I’ve ever seen online If you want to go and do that it’s phenomenal And he was playing the psychiatrist in that He was amazing Yeah it’s cool to see him back in a Disney musical And he did a fantastic job as Phil In fact he was probably one of the most convincing characters on stage Even though again he wasn’t wearing a costume or anything He was wearing an outfit but he wasn’t wearing a mask or anything to look exactly like Phil from the cartoon He just had his face and everything like everybody else But his characterization I thought was so good and so funny that he was just very entertaining I really did enjoy him But then again that’s just Trevor He is a fantastic performer The ensemble were all good as well There were so many that I actually recognized and I’d seen in other shows such as Philipe Beerano over here who was in the ensemble He’s a swing actually and I saw him more recently as Fierra He was under study Fier in Wicked It was good to see him But yeah I think I’m done talking about the cast Sakas was overall very good and I’m sure they’re going to get even better as they get more time to work together and do more performances together to public I think my main takeover is that I enjoyed the show The show is good I’m glad I saw it and I’d be happy to see it again at some point I’m not like going to rush back to see it anytime soon I’m probably going to give it maybe a few months maybe 6 months maybe even a year because this is currently booking until March of 2026 and I’d be curious to see how the cast change their performances over time if they change anything after the show officially opens at the end of June Yeah it’s definitely not made it into one of my favorite Disney shows It’s not a bad show and you will have a good time if you come and see it In my opinion as somebody who’s seen so many shows and musicals around London around Broadway everywhere in the world actually over the past like maybe nearly 20 years I just have critical eyes on and for me I just don’t think it was phenomenal unfortunately Okay I’ve definitely talked enough It’s finally time for me to leave Covent Garden and the theater royal lane again It’s looking wonderful here and you can see the bar that I was talking about right on the opposite side I hope you enjoyed this video Thank you so much for watching until the end Especially a
