COW AND CALF CIRCULAR WALK – ILKLEY MOOR, West Yorkshire
hello and welcome back to the channel we’ve uh moved up from Illey which is the first video of today so this video is going to be a separate one and we’re up on Ilkmore now and we’re at the cow and calf rocks so there’s some stunning views behind me and we’re going to walk up to these cow and calf rocks why they call them cow and calf rocks is it cuz there’s a big one and a small one i don’t know but we’ll find out so there we are cameron car rocks and that’s Elley down there some stunning views from up here and there’s a cow and calf pub just around the corner there all these years i mean it’s iconic isn’t it yeah it’s first time we’ve been here is just amazing it is isn’t it pepper has walking boots on them it’s a good surface to walk on we’re a bit slippy in the Yeah stunning isn’t it i mean it’s panoramic it is might be a while compet yeah it’s a good rock down there is it boulder i think that’s one of them i think Yeah we’ll have to reach some when we get back down yeah yeah wonder if he’s like an old quarry it’s like it’s all been dug out yeah I know it’s easy there’s that path was outside in there yeah i bet they were like throw grit stones you know they used to quarry for Yeah you know like Milstone Edge on above a Yeah they quarried up there for millstones aselves didn’t they for grinding corn and that so it might have been a similar Yeah thing yeah it’s certainly an old quarry anyway it’s not uh a natural formation is it yeah it certainly looks like it’s been quarried but Well that’s something else I’ve never been to the go you enjoying the view yeah but it is cuz you like you say you’re going to have the uh soil on it as well and so we’ll go up this way probably do a circuit around it anyway hey guys some cardiovascular look today on Elmoat [Music] wild Mand i’m glad we detailed this way yeah it’s lovely yeah nice to visit it is i know it’s just a battle of rocks but it’s got some good views can walk up to Chapa Moore if you want you can yeah yes there’s quite a few paths lovely right we’re at the top now getting down where we were early on oh it’s well worth a walk around isn’t it yeah all right so that’s looking down over Oakley again some carvings on them rocks one day it’s from 1881 eml Lancaster 18 something there jsjs Marshall that’s 1811 1811 another one there graffiti 1910 two George Bbef I think 1910 and you come around to these must have done that with a chisel or something a lot’s been worn away cuz of people’s uh footsteps they put them in right place 1877 I think another one there MT’s on the new one here that’s nice to see actually ancient graffiti very neat though very neat ancient graffiti not like today’s graffiti with spray paint so you can either go long way around or other way back same way back down does that lead down there yeah I think so have to go down that way we unless it turns into a scrambly path i know we’ll find out when we get there we’ve given up with scrambly pass now we’re OAPs haven’t [Music] we we dodgy knees pick a route pick a route there’s plenty of people carve their names and empty the initials looks like this is another quarry it’s a bit quieter at this one just a bit further down from where we were stood on top of the rocks well I wasn’t expecting this when we uh decided to drive over this way i’d heard of the cabin calf but I didn’t realize it was uh as nice as this right we’ll work his way back down now tell you what going uphill’s not so bad but coming down unties got to keep doing it though you got to keep doing it yeah you get some lovely views look at them beautiful views well day turned out better what they forecast anyway didn’t it broom flowers have gone over now aren’t they go flowers or go into it that Yeah go flowers similar to broom ain’t it so I’ve come down we go back up last look back I could go and go off so that’s just telling you all about Hillemore geology natural history history social history right one last look back hope you enjoyed that little walk with us today around CF rocks and that if you did don’t forget to do normal YouTubery stuff i the previous video to this was Oakley I think I said earlier on in the video so we come up here to have a walk around here so I thought I’d do this as a separate video so if you’ve liked what you’re seeing don’t forget do the normal YouTuby stuff thumbs up subscribe click notification bell etc and we’ll see you in another video from our third full day at Upwood Holiday Park near Howeth so we’ll say goodbye for now and we’ll see you in the next video bye

So pleased you enjoyed our neck of the woods. We were both born on the edge of the moor, went to school in Ilkley, worked in Ilkley and now enjoying different areas of the UK in our caravan. Off to the Fotest of Dean tomorrow!
