Hiking 61 kilometres in the French Alps

Trekking poles in hand — and off I go.
That’s how every hike begins. My route passes near the well-known lake that shares the same name — Allos.

The goal of spending four days alone isn’t just the destination — it’s the hike itself. It’s a chance to experience something new and unrepeatable, far from the routine of daily life. It’s also an effective way to clear the informational clutter — no internet, no constant notifications, most of which aren’t worth your attention anyway.

By midday, the temperature reaches nearly 30 degrees Celsius, and the crystal-clear water invites a refreshing dip. Soft, grassy algae tickle your feet. But there’s no time to relax for long — the weather changes every 15 minutes.
So first, I pitch the tent. Only then — rest.

Rainstorms at altitude are majestic. Thunder crashing nearby awakens something primal. But I’m safe — I have my little red two-person cave.
    For now, it’s my home.

Just imagine: no one around. 2300 metres above sea level.
Just you — and absolute clarity. A golden morning.
Tea or coffee with rusks on pause. The most delicious in the world.
