night – hidden in herring barrels with the help of the merchant Leonhard Koppe. In Wittenberg, she
not only found refuge but also her true purpose. Luther, impressed by her intelligence, took her
as his wife. Their marriage was a partnership of equals – she managed the household, advised
scholars, and strengthened Luther’s work. Katharina became a role model for a new
image of women during the Reformation. Today, the ruins of Nimbschen stand as a testament
