morning [Music] Good morning The start of the vlog today is us climbing down 15 flights of stairs with a mobile phone as our torch So our building management is a lady that we’ve never met and it’s just a WhatsApp That’s it She’s not even in the building She’s not part of the building There’s no office So I messaged her We can’t see anything in hallways and we can’t get out of the apartment What do we do And she’s like “Let me check.” 1 hour later no response Welcome to Vietnam No I’m kidding It’s um It must just be a rare occasion Well we’ll see won’t we You’ll see on this journey on this channel Oh Interesting All right here we go Here’s Van She says power outage 2 hours back on but nobody told us That’s all right The whole day of errands today with this haird dryer that I was so excited to buy Do you remember Doesn’t flipping work Now I’ve got to go back to the shop swap it for a different one Good part is everything is a walking distance It is a walking distance Can I speak English today Is within walking distance So that’s what it’s called There’s no taxi no moped no car Okay Ga So you were Miguel Gal taught me that to sound local addy at the end of every word I’m now going to say gamy I think I think that’s right Might need a little bit more practice No problem Even though this doesn’t work they’re trying to say to me that they’ll give me a 90% refund They’ve tried it in every Pog socket they could possibly try it in and they’re like “Oh we’ll give you 90% refunder in exchange for like a cheaper product.” I got Billy Because of the language barrier we’re constantly on Google Translate And my like ethos is always try with sugar before vinegar or don’t even try with vinegar Everything I want I always get with sugar What’s annoying is Google Translate can’t express like how like empathetic I’m trying to be to like your rules and processes Like there’s no inconvenience I live down the road It’s not a problem Um like I just want to come back Google Translate can’t say all of that Like you can’t express I’m probably going to have to cut this out because of the music By the way when we went into the electric shop all the lights were off as well So it’s not just our building I didn’t know that happened in Vietnam which is it’s maybe stupid to perhaps think that I know it happens in India happens in Pakistan when all the electricity goes happens in the Philippines happens in Indonesia Is this like a um scheduled thing like it happens in India where it’s scheduled for the electricity to turn off to save electricity or is it just a power outage Look no electricity no lights no music Wow No karaoke no loud music for once in Vietnam It has to be the best day we have ever seen here in Daang Vietnam It is glorious Look at that sunshine blue skies It’s a It’s a must today to go get these chairs for the balcony And we went into a cafe that had nice chairs And then I asked the manager “Where did you get your chairs from?” or “Can I buy some chairs off you Or can I pay you and you buy them?” And then he told me that this store is where he got them from Sinja doesn’t look like there’s any chairs here Plot twist or change of plan Um it’s not this store it’s the biggest store And the biggest store is 26 minutes away Now the challenge of Sara is it’s a 26 minute walk Now on a 26- minutee walk Sara can get very distracted There can be a lot of side quests but really what I want to do is make sure that I get chairs today Just want to settle in It’s been How long has it been 6 days in the apartment The session is actually not that Do you know what I don’t know what I’m stressing for It’s only been six days This street guys is a very nice street It’s not as busy as the main street That’s a theater actually in the back And what’s cool is there’s a mix of Korean shops like Korean target audience shops Um and Vietnamese local Vietnamese target audience shop This is really cool Is

into a bar at night So barber by day and then bar by night Yes Right 310.£3 £33 and probably $5 Look at this vehicle here This is their brand I think it’s called Vinfast And there’s like Suzuki 4x4s as well here which is so fascinating It’s like a mimic of a It’s like a Suzuki G Wagon A knockoff G Wagon Obviously nowhere near the same I’m not saying it looks like a G Wagon but it is like a a wannabe knockoff I walked over here thinking these were chairs for the balcony We’re walking past this like abandoned place and we looked up and there was flood lights and we thought “Oh this must be like some sort of stadium.” Look through here Look how big Oh sorry Look how big the stadium actually looks Can you see the seats right in the back It looks like a huge arena It’s completely abandoned Looks absolutely horrible That’s nuts though for the government to like just completely abandon such a huge stadium I take back what I’ve said because apparently they’re going to build a whole complex [Music] She made it No side quests no distractions This is what’s in all the cafes Look how close it is to the ground Can you guys see that Found this love seat Thought this was cool But sad sad ending for the chairs guys There’s all these chairs but they don’t have four of any of them So Gal did tell me yesterday to actually buy the chairs off Shopee but I didn’t want to cuz I was impetuous and I’m impatient and I wanted the chairs ASAP But unfortunately that’s just going to have to be the deal Good news is we’re off to the bookstore Got an idea of something that I really want to do It’s just for me and for YouTube and for this journey sort of thing to have some clarity and I thought it’d be a fantastic video [Music] Ah that paper smell M Books books books books books books books So they didn’t have books Silly me Silly Sara It’s all in Vietnamese There’s no English books And it’s for kiddies But it is a stationary shop and there’s loads of stationery I needed a roll of paper but I didn’t have a roll but they do have a very large piece And I needed pens and I’ve got both secured the goods and then hopefully I can make you guys that video and I’m so excited cuz I was doing this for myself anyway and then I thought why don’t I actually just vlog it and film it and then tell you what I’m doing and hopefully this should add a lot of value to your life is very exciting and if H does it would be amazing because it would add a lot of value to his life He’s not proactive about doing things like this but then he loves it when he does it and the end result is also amazing and then you have like anyway I’ll explain it when I do it Can any of you guys guess what it is going to be two things that you need Big roll piece of paper huge one preferably bigger than this and pens So we were going past Hand Market and we saw these little basket things Cute shop And I’m thinking I’ll add them I haven’t showed you yet but I have got baskets already in the bathroom When it’s actually done and finished I can actually show you guys the apartment I got me another haird dryer Yay Same Same Yeah
Come on At least that turned out to be much easier than it was looking to be at the start The power outage ended up lasting nearly 6 hours But it’s all right We found a new cafe to work from a really cool local Vietnamese place and I might have managed to buy some balcony chairs off Shopee on apparently a next day delivery So let’s see if they actually arrived tomorrow You’re going to have to mind the sweat guys I’ve literally just come back from the gym and I feel an absolute mess But I didn’t want to miss out on unpackaging this Um I ordered this online as you guys know We couldn’t find any in the store So this is Off Shope Ee And the amazing part is that I haven’t even paid for it yet The sketch here is that you pay on arrival cash but this arrived at 7:00 a.m I was not up at 7:00 a.m So they left it in reception which I thought was actually very good of them And I haven’t even done a transfer yet So then when I offered to do the transfer she said “No why don’t you unpackage it wait see if you like it when you’re happy then do the transfer That’s cute [Music] They were very dusty Time for the big reveal I have washed them Cushions are terrible They’re going
H just said the cushions are terrible They’re going But they do look so good Every day when I think I’ll get over this view Obviously it’s not been long but I’m just still not over this view I’m just so happy Like every time we come home cuz we spend pretty much all day out Every time I come home it is so nice And now we can finally sit outside I’m thinking rugs plants What should I do What should we do with this balcony And then obviously you’ve got that one over there as well Anyway there you go guys There’s the chairs I feel like it has been years since I’ve played golf Literally years but it hasn’t Zinja van and uh the security guard is so cute man She’s like a little She’s like a little doll Anyway it’s that time We’re off We got the clubs Clubs are in hand We’re going to our first ever sim and also going to meet some friends there The friends that you saw the other day Give that a h because that’s how we roll So we’re going to meet Travis there And there’s a cool story about Travis actually Um I won’t tell you now I’ll tell you when we get there Yeah He’s been um exposed to a golfing environment but not as a golfer So I’ll wait for you to hear the story directly from him And his mate is down from Chicago Zach I don’t think he was in any of that footage And he’s staying with Travis And then obviously his partner Gal who is awesome She’s coming She’s never tried golf before So that’ll be exciting I love getting a new golfer to hit the ball from the sweet spot out of the middle It doesn’t happen the first time Probably doesn’t even happen for like I don’t know 20 30 shots But when they just get

Do it I love it And Travis do you know what’s interesting Apparently you’ve been exposed to golf but not in a golfer sense I remember you telling me but do you mind telling the viewers Um so I was a caddy when I was 13 years old and I don’t know anything about golf so I just got yelled at by old men and I have really bad eyes so I wore glasses back then and so they’d say like they sucked at golf so they’d hit the ball in the woods and they’d be like “Where’s my ball?” I have no idea
But that was your job right To actually track it
I guess So I thought my job was just to carry the clubs
So you didn’t get very good tips huh
No no tips So I was working for minimum wage

No Like $25 for like a 4 hour
So the old white men didn’t pay well

There there was a really low like minimum and that normally people would get like a $100 tip on top

It’s because every single hit is 00
Every single shot has been zero Yeah but that’s not your fault I’m the golfer I should have known I should know what a Sim looks like

If you’re new to the channel, welcome welcome! I was born and bred in England and left my country for good back on 27 November 2024. I sold my belongings, put the rest at my parents house and booked a one way ticket. The first country was Singapore, then Malaysia and then straight to Vietnam. Vietnam has some of the best golf courses in the whole of Asia, so I wanted to give Vietnam a chance for a year.

Are you a golfer? If so, please let me know in the comments. Golf in South East Asia is unreal. There’s pros and cons of course. I will make a video about golf in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, to explain the costs, the attire, the caddies, its so different to golf in England.

If you’re looking to move to South East Asia or just wondering what life looks like in Asia, I hope these videos give you an insight into Da Nang or Vietnam in general. We have so many misconceptions of life in different countries, especially if we rely on propaganda on the TV.

I had no idea there were power cuts in Vietnam, it’s just something we don’t hear about! It happened on the day when I wanted to buy furniture for my new home in Vietnam. Whether it’s exchanging a hairdryer or teaching a Vietnamese friend golf, it always works out here.
