10 Reasons Why you MUST Visit BUDAPEST! | A Local’s Travel Guide to Hungary

are you looking for your next holiday destination
a historic European city with a colorful and vibrant atmosphere and also some excellent food
then let me share with you 10 reasons why you must visit Budapest I’m a local born and raised
here and I’m passionate about sharing as much as possible about this exciting and beautiful city
Budapest may not be perfect but I’m sure by the end of this video you’ll know why I love it so
much In the middle of the city runs the Danube River and this cuts Budapestt into two very
distinctive parts This feature of the city highlights the stark contrast between Buddha
and Pesht Buddha is full of hills There’s more nature more green spaces here and it offers a more
laid-back and relaxing atmosphere However Pesht is generally more flat It has many different kinds
of neighborhoods a more vibrant night life and a much more busier atmosphere [Music] Another thing
that I absolutely love about this city is that it offers so many different experiences If you enjoy
history we have places like the Buddha Castle but we also have hip colorful and lively neighborhoods
a network of narrow and small streets to get lost in We also have many lush and peaceful parks If
you’re looking for a place to relax and chill So in the end no matter what your interests are
or what you enjoy the most for sure this city will offer something that you will absolutely
fall in love with One of my hobbies is to take photographs And thankfully here in Budapest
there are just so many interesting sites to see where you can take some gorgeous photos And
trust me you don’t need a expensive camera like I’m running around with You have your phone
which means that wherever you go whatever you see you will get some amazing views and you can
take some amazing pictures and then share your magical experience you had here in Budapest on
Instagram for example And if you’re interested what type of photographs I take then check out
my Instagram account Link is in the description One of the best features of the city in my opinion
is that most of the attractions are not located in some sort of a central area They are actually
spread out across the city And that is great because of two reasons One of those reasons is
that if you go to some of these places then you will not see a huge crowd It’s not overcrowded
Thankfully more and more people are coming here to the city It’s getting more and more popular
And we do hope that the city will do something in the future to kind of counter the future over
tourism But right now wherever you go you will never feel overwhelmed And the other great thing
is that if you want to get from one attraction to the other you can do that in multiple ways There
are different public transport routes or you can also walk from one place to the other And if you
do walk that gives you the opportunity to find some off-the-beaten more hidden places and gems
that the city has to offer One of the strengths of Budapest is its public transport network because
it allows you to get from one place to the other quickly efficiently and in a cheap way We also
have an app for our phones that helps us to plan our routes from one attraction to the other Plus
you can also get some digital tickets on your phone as well However there’s an additional plus
for those who are seniors or people with larger families because if you are 65 years or older you
can ride the Budapest public transport system for free And if you have a family with a child who’s
6 years or younger that child also uses the public transport for free And children under 14 of age
can ride it with a discount So there’s a big plus even for those who have larger families or who are
seniors and another reason why they should visit Budapest By the way if you enjoy the work that we
do and would like to support us you can do so via the thanks button Through that you can send us
some donations but you can also check out some of our merch via the link in the description or
you can also become a member of some super awesome people like they are over here What they did was
that they have clicked the join button and through that they have become a member of our stuffed
cabbage community Thank you so much everyone for joining us And now let’s get back to the video
Now I like to refer to Hungary and Budapest as the cultural melting pot of Europe because even
before our ancestors the old Hungarians came here to the great Hungarian plains Many different
civilizations have shaped our culture today We can thank the Romans for example for our excellent
wine production here in the country But even during the Ottoman Empire’s rule that’s when we
got the thermmouffs and thermobbuff culture became an important part of our heritage And if you
walk the streets of Budapest you will see these magnificent old classical buildings which were
influenced during the time of the Hapsburg Empire And thanks to how over history many of these
influences have shaped our identity and culture here in Budapest if you walk the streets today you
will see so many nationalities being represented And for me that is one of the most exciting
things that I can look forward to whenever I go into the city center And that also brings
me to my next topic which is about restaurants If you enjoy food then you will love Budapest
because the Hungarian dishes we have here are simple delicious maybe a little bit heavy but
every bite will be just amazing However thanks to all the different cultures that we have here
in the city many different cuisines can also be found Like for example 15 years ago it was really
difficult to find an excellent ramen place but today there are just so many it’s really difficult
to choose one And on top of that we have excellent Asian places We have some really really good
Italian places some award-winning pizza places So whatever you want to taste if you come to Hungary
the local cuisine will blow you away And you can try many different dishes from all over the world
So Budapest is located in central Eastern Europe and it is an exocialist country And because of
that a lot of people may believe that this is not actually a really safe place But trust me over
the last 20 to 30 years Budapest became super safe Whenever I walk around the streets I never really
fear that there’s going to be a pickpocket There’s never going to be someone who tries to scam me
And trust me I walk around with a huge camera all the time Wherever I go they think that I am also
a tourist But I never feel that someone is out there to just take my money away And many of you
have been leaving comments saying how enjoyable was visiting Budapest and how stress-free was
your experience Maybe that is because when you watched our video about the 15 things you must
know about Budapest you heard about some of the things you should definitely look out for like
which taxis you should take and what type of scams there may or may not be out there But if
you haven’t seen that then make sure to check out that video perhaps after this one Another
exciting feature of the city is that no matter what time of the year you come here for sure there
will be some seasonal specific event Perhaps it’s a festival that is focusing just on food or drinks
like wine and beer But for music enthusiasts every year we have the Sigot Festival where for one week
you can enjoy music conveniently located close to the city or once a year there is also the Formula
1 Grand Prix located close to Budapest and easily accessible from here in the city center But if
you enjoy the colder seasons if you come here during winter time we have the Christmas market
So it doesn’t matter which time of the year you come for sure there will be something exciting
for you to experience When the sun sets people often try to spend their time in two different
ways Some try to look for something more active and more lively and go for a night out with
some drinks And in Budapest you can have many different kinds of experiences If you enjoy wine
with a few snacks or you want to sample some craft beer or get some tasty cocktails for sure
there will be a bar here in the city just for you But if you wish to slow things down for the night
the areas which are really busy during the day will become more quiet during the night And some
of the most famous areas where there’s tons of crowds usually will feel like you have the whole
place all to yourself So these were 10 reasons why we believe you must visit Budapest But if I can
add an 11th one that would be that visiting this wonderful city gives you the chance to fall in
love not only with Budapest but also with Hungary and Hungarian culture because this country has
so many more unique historic cities small and cute villages and natural beauty And if you want
to know what else you can do here in Budapest and also in Hungary then perhaps check out some of our
other videos And if you enjoy this content then make sure to like the video and also subscribe so
you won’t miss our future videos Thank you very much for watching and hopefully you will come

  1. We were there last week to celebrate our 10th year Wedding anniversary. We follow your 3 day itinerary and i would say its the best,we even ate on the restaurants that you recommended. It's like following your footsteps 😅😄 Good food, nice people, amazing history and lastly very beautiful city. We even saw you making video on the Chain bridge. Definitely one of the best vacations that we had.

  2. Love the videos. Watching them ahead of my first visit to Budapest, for the F1 Grand Prix (as mentioned in this video).

Are you planning on doing a video for visitors who are coming for the F1 weekend?
Obviously I will use the tips from your videos; but what would be really helpful would be specific stuff such as getting to/from the GP and relaxing things to do in the evenings – as people will be tired from full days at the Hungaroring.

  3. I once walked from Batthyány Square, crossing Széchenyi Chain Bridge then to my Airbnb along the Szimpla Kert area late at night, around 11 pm. It was probably not the smartest choice for a solo female traveler but mygoodness it was memorable and magical. Felt like I had the city all to myself (except when I got to the party district lol).

  4. I started subscribing to the channel because of preparations for a 7-day stay in Budapest with my wife. Many thanks for such a concentrated dose of the most necessary information. You are a true ambassador of the Capital of Hungary. Greetings from Poland.

  5. Akos! Your Budapest obsessed greek fan is coming at your city again , for a week in July! Couldn't find a better timing for this video! Thank youuuuu!!!!!

  6. Good points! Just booked a flight to Budapest and looking forward to my trip next week. Hope the weather won't be terribly hot

  7. I was in Budapest for 2 months this past summer. It was my 6th visit. My first visit was in 1987 when it was still part of the Warsaw Pact. I'll be 65 years old in December and will be returning to Budapest. Is the mass transit free for non-Hungarian/non-EU citizens, too? Does that include the metro, trams and busses?

  8. I have enjoyed many of your YouTube videos. I'm actually planning to travel next late April to the Balkans. So far I'm certain to visit Hungary and Serbia. Thank you for presentations. I'm saving them

  9. Hi!
I am a romanian who had the opportunity to travel to Budapest last year, this is an amazing city and, contrary to what people say on reddit and on facebook ( and youtube too ), pretty much everyone spoke english without issues.
There was not a single instance where I needed google translate, which to me feels surprising.
Budapest is, if you ask me, much better than Bucharest. Romania has great cities too: Cluj, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara ( a medieval town ) and great attractions too. Bucharest is definitely not as great as Budapest however. I recommend visiting the other cities I already mentioned though.
Budapest is in the top 3 best cities I've visited in Europe, and for me personally it's above Venice.

The most beautiful part of this city, in my opinion, is the Buda side and the streets around the Fisherman's Bastion.

    Budapest is underrated big time.

  10. I am in my 30s and have never left the uk despite having wanted to travel my whole life.
I have just booked my tickets for a 12 day stay in budapest in december!!😁
Cannot wait to see your beautiful city and country.

  11. We visited Budapest in May and visited most all the sights you suggested and enjoyed them all! Parliament at night along the Danube is so beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your city with everyone!
