Tourism Collapse In Thailand! TRUE OR FALSE?
so there’s been a lot of talk a lot of YouTubers and a lot of doom and gloom it’s like “Oh tourism is down so much nobody’s here the streets are empty the malls are empty everything’s empty.” It’s just a horrible time for Thailand prices are up the bot is strong so you’re not going to get the the good currency exchange that you normally would have a couple of years ago and uh it’s just a horrible time to come to Thailand there’s nobody here scamming is at alltime high you watch any YouTuber a foreign YouTuber talking about Thailand and the whole videos is surrounded about um how bad it is in Thailand now you know what here’s my answer when is a good time to come to Thailand right now is a good time to come to Thailand we’ll talk about that right now you ready let’s go [Music] all right having my lunch here at Maya Mall in Chiang Mai and um it’s like most food courts around uh Thailand you get a card you put money on the card you go around to the vendor and you find the food you want and then you pay with the card when you run low on cash on the card you put more money on the card so this is what I got i just got the pork stir fried with a fried egg got some sausage and a water and the whole thing was 75 total bot so I I put 200 on my card so I have 125 left so we’ll spice it up just a little bit not too much today i’ll take it easy i’m still kind of recovering from the first night I was here so uh but let’s talk about when is a good time to come to Thailand so there’s been a lot of talk a lot of YouTubers and a lot of doom and gloom it’s like oh tourism is down so much nobody’s here the streets are empty the malls are empty everything’s empty and uh it’s just a horrible time for Thailand and prices are up uh the bot is strong so you’re not going to get the um the good currency exchange that you normally would have a couple of years ago and uh it’s just a horrible time to come to Thailand uh there’s nobody here um scamming is at alltime high i mean you watch doesn’t matter you watch any YouTuber a foreign YouTuber talking about Thailand and the whole videos is surrounded about um how bad it is in Thailand now you know what here’s my answer when is a good time to come to Thailand right now is a good time to come to Thailand uh anytime’s a good time to come to Thailand you just Yeah tourism’s down but you know the latest statistic shows it’s like down 2.7% it’s down all over the world the only places that I’ve seen where tourism is actually up is Vietnam and Malaysia uh those are the only two at least in Southeast Asia uh the only two countries where tourism is actually higher than it was the prior year everywhere else it’s down um it’s down in the Philippines it’s down here in Thailand it’s way down in the West like if you look at the US Canada Mexico it’s down in double digits big time so relatively speaking um it’s not so bad here and you don’t really notice it when I walk around in Bangkok um the streets are busy the malls are busy walking around here now when I got in on Tuesday night it was pretty dead but last night uh my buddy and I went out Riby and I we went out and uh did some bar hopping and play some pool and it was pretty busy there was um a lot of things going on and so it wasn’t like it was totally dead now it may be off a little bit from previous year but um I didn’t really notice it it was for a Wednesday night i thought the traffic was good i mean it was these some of these streets are really busy and hard to cross when you’re walking so It wasn’t bad at all um now you will have to understand that the exchange currency may be a little bit of a factor for you because uh the taibot is strong and speaking of the US dollar US dollar is a little weaker so you’re not going to get the exchange that you may be used to if you came out here a year or two years ago but still uh you’re still going to get a good deals here things are cheap um compared compared to the west uh things are a lot cheaper airline flights you just have to find the time the best time to to pick your flight the farther out you um book your flight the better chances you are going to have is getting a cheaper flight so you know and it just kind of depends on what you like you know do you like direct flights do you like um you know do you like first class like business economy whatever you know myself I like to spend as little money on the flight so I have more money to spend when I’m actually at my destination uh I don’t spend a lot of money on hotel rooms i try to get a decent hotel room at a discount rate because that way then I’ve got more money to spend on my other things because the hotel let’s be honest the hotel is for me to sleep at night and I get up I shower I change and I’m out the door and doing my other things so the hotel isn’t that big a deal now some people might like the luxury hotels and they want they want the whole um resort experience so they get those big-time luxury hotels where they got the big suite they got the spa they got the the gym they got the pool they got all that right there in the hotel they got free breakfast every morning to me it’s like yeah free breakfast is nice but when you really think about it you go in those hotels that have the free breakfast and the breakfasts are the same every day you have the buffet and it’s the same choices every day so if you’re staying for a week or two weeks do you really want to have the same breakfast every day just to save a little bit of money on breakfast i like to get out and try different coffee shops try different breakfasts you know try different lunches so so it just kind of depends on your style you know what you like what you you want to spend more money on the flight to be comfortable because if you’re um if you’re flying a long way um you don’t want to be crammed in economy necessarily so to me it it’s not a big deal for me i’ll I usually maybe I’ll I’ll pay a little extra for a for an exit seat so I’ve got more leg room um but I won’t go first class i I to be honest I I I don’t have the income for a first class i’m an economy man all the way so that’s one thing in the hotel like I said the hotel I go I go a little bit of the cheaper route um I I get good hotels don’t get me wrong i don’t stay in host or or slum hotels or anything like that i’ll get nice hotels but they’re not luxury they’re not top class they’re they’re not that so I do that little step down so I can save a little bit of money so coming out here to Thailand I would say definitely um anytime’s a good time now this is this time of year as far as weather’s concerned we are in the rainy season so there’ll be days where it’ll just pour rain for 2 hours straight in the afternoon or in the evening but then it’ll stop and it’ll be nice and uh the weather the temperatures are a little cooler even up in here in Chiang Mai it’s a little higher uh elevation so um the temperatures this week are going to be in the uh mid 80s probably uh if you were down in Bangkok or south there Patya or Huah Hin you’re going to look at temperatures well into the ‘9s but but even then it’s like maybe low 90s because we’re in that season where it’s a little cooler um if you were to come here earlier in the year where the temperatures are super high uh you know in the hundreds Fahrenheit it it could get a little miserable now me um the heat doesn’t bother me real bad i mean it’s I get all sweaty and stuff and there’ll be times when I’m out and I’ll come home and I’ll shower two or three times a day and change clothes two or three times a day this time of year it’s not bad so weatherwise if you can handle the the rainy season where you’re going to have um you know a time of the day where it’s going to rain a couple hours a day or a couple hours overnight uh but then it’ll be okay then that’s livable just make sure wherever you’re staying check to make sure it’s not in a high flood area because when you get those 2 hours straight rains it could flood you can have some localized flooding and especially in Bangkok I don’t know about other cities but I know in Bangkok there are some places right along Sukum bit that can flood pretty good so it’s almost um you know really hard if not impossible for you to get out of your hotel room to get around because of the flooding so you have to keep that in mind too um those are always some um things obstacles that you might have to u look at and try to avoid so where I’m staying where I live in Bangkok I I’m on the south end at the um Simuk Praan area that district and um there’s I don’t get any flooding there um but I am a little farther away from the central area of Bangkok so it takes me a little while to get where I want to go if I want to go hang out with buddies you know at the bars on Sukumit Road takes me about 30 35 minutes to get there by train but it’s pretty convenient um so in that in that respect um I don’t really care too much it’s okay with me to travel a little farther save a little money on rent and things like that so I would say the the worst time to come to Thailand especially Bangkok up north Chiang Mai where I’m at now is the first part of the year January through March that’s the burning season and they burn the crops here up here and that smoke just hangs in the air and the quality the air quality is really really bad starting in January and going into March so that would be the worst time to go unless you’re way south in Bangkok maybe if you go down to Phuket or Pa even in Pia and Huah Hen sometimes that small gets that far south but it’s not as bad but there are days like this past year uh there was a a week where in in Bangkok the weather was so bad the air quality was so bad that they actually um made it free to ride the trains the BTS and the MRT for that whole week to try to discourage people from driving to um try to help alleviate some of that air quality issues so that’s how bad it got this past January but um other than th those two months you know January February and a little bit into March um the air quality is not bad there are days that are worse than others uh just like in any big city but in most smaller cities uh in Thailand you’re not going to have a big issue bangkok even uh most for the most part the air quality is good so as far as that’s concerned um any other time of the year I would say is a great time to come to to uh Thailand um checking the flights you know there’s going to be times of the year that flights are going to be higher um probably mostly around the holidays the Christmas and New Year’s holiday the Chinese New Year’s holiday those flights are probably going to be a little higher you might pay a little more for hotels than you normally would pretty much everything’s going to be a little higher in price uh during that holiday season but after that obviously you got the burning season then come come March in April and May and June now we’re into the rainy season temperatures are going to be a little lower uh and then it’s going to be pleasant and the prices are going to be a little lower uh to fly out here because it’s low it’s considered low season so you’re going to have more opportunities so question again when’s a good time to come to Thailand i would say anytime just got just got to know the and understand the circumstances involved but um you can come to Thailand any time of the year and enjoy it and just depends how much money you have or how much money you want to spend um but there’s so much to do here thailand’s a great country and even with tourism being low it hasn’t affected anything really i don’t notice it um you might not stand in line at the BTS in Bangkok as long as you normally would when you go into the trains you may be the only fang or the only foreign guy uh on the train you know and you know a lot of people say you know you’ll never be you’ll never be one of them i get that you know but that’s never really bothered me as far as if you’re thinking about coming here and retiring and living here in in whether it’s Thailand or anywhere in Southeast Asia uh that holds true you will never be a local but to me that really doesn’t bother me because I’ve always been kind of a lonely guy lonely bull you know that’s why I named my channel that uh I’ve always been kind of that loner where I’ve never really felt that I fit I fit in so no matter where I’ve worked where I’ve lived I just go I did my job and uh I had a few decent friends where I lived but I never I I never allowed myself to get really really close to anybody so I’ve always been a loner in that respect so with that understanding of oh you’ll never fit in you’ll never be one of them that doesn’t bother me because um that’s kind of how I am anyway so um maybe that’s why I fit in so well maybe that’s why I feel at home being here in Thailand or when I was living in the Philippines maybe that’s why and even when I was staying in Vietnam for a few months I kind of felt like it didn’t feel any different than when I was in the US so anyway so that’s my two cents uh make sure you like share and subscribe let me know in the comments what you think below and um as always live life my friend and we’ll talk to you again soon take care bye-bye can hardly sleep at night doing crazy dreaming you’re the reason why hiding by the baby losing my mind don’t try to save me i feel alive my world is faster and faster the tears in the

Tourism is Down in Thailand – Should You Still Visit in 2025.
Thailand, once buzzing with millions of tourists, is seeing a surprising dip in travel numbers this year. But what does that mean for you? Is now actually the best time to visit?
Over tourism benefits nobody. Spain is currently experiencing massive demonstrations against over tourism. Try visiting the Phi Phi islands in peak season in Thailand and you will understand the problem with over tourism.
It could be Covid. Nobody from the West wants to deal with that mess. That's why I'm not coming.
OK Mr. 🔵
From January to May 2025, a total of 14,362,694 foreign tourists visited Thailand—down 2.7% from the same period in 2024. Despite the decrease in visitor numbers, international tourists generated an estimated 672.629 billion Baht in revenue, reflecting a 1.05% increase year-on-year.
A lot less busload of uncles and aunties (who typically stay, dine and shop at Chinese-owned hotels, restaurants and stores) but more Europeans and Americans (The White Lotus effect?). The latter doesn't offset the former in terms of the number of heads but definitely in terms of spending per head. This is actually very good for Thailand. Fingers crossed for trend to continue.
Tourist numbers are always down in the rain season. If you can live with the occasional down poor it's a quieter cheaper time to visit. I believe that the drop in Chinese tourists has been made up for by the Indians. As for the baht it was 40 to the pound in 2023. Now it's hovering around 44.
US dollar index was at a very high in 2022-23. Its insane. Thats one of the reasons why prices was pushed up in Thailand. Americans running around and spending money. They had suffered inflation in thier own country and thought it was the same everywhere. Compared to our real wages in the west, Thailand today is more expensive than 10 years ago. And the inflation in Thailand has not been 50-100%. The average daily wage there is 600 baht.
STOP ALL BS NEWS MAN.🤮
Cal (thebangkokguide) addressed the tourism decline the other day. Turns out, tourism is actually up, except from China. China was a HUGE percentage of tourism to Thailand, and it's been greatly curtailed, but it's up from the western countries. Thailand isn't too bothered by the Chinese drop because they didn't spend much in the Thai economy…
Thailand is not the best place to come anymore
True, you hardly notice any changes. There are some areas that seem quieter, but for the most part it's basically the same. Also, living in a foreign country, I don't mind not being thought of as a local, as long as I get along with people and they like me, it's all good.
Youtubers have got a lot to do with it. They have attracted the Benidorm crowd. Lots of clowns visiting Thailand these days thinking it is Spain and acting like it
Thailand down, Albania let's go!
the place is only bearable if you are living as more than a bar stool drunkard
June '24 I was here in Jomtien, June '25 I am back and it's basically identical on the street. It's the off season, I got my amazing hotel for a full 55% discount, I can walk into any resto or pub and grab table without waiting. Biz owners are smiling and appreciative of my money spent. Employee gleefully thank for any tip. That all suits me and I don't waste time worrying about all this other stuff. Buy hey? I 'm not stoopid, I avoid anything which is not concreate solid, no scammers are bar girls. Just enjoying retirement and Thailand rocks after 3 weeks in the Phils. Phils was fine; Boracay was amazing, THailand is better IMHO when measures on all attributes.
According to these tourism collapse vids, mid November when I visit should have few tourists wandering around Asok through Nana. Perfect for me. Thailand is still cheaper than Vegas.
Everyone knows why Chinese people are staying away. It's obvious they don't feel comfortable around the invasion of Indian tourists.
As the Thai people, I've been looking for the government that will move Thailand into industrialization with our own technology development and not just being a hub for cheap labor Investments and unorganized tourism industry.
This is the first video about Thailand on Youtube that I have seen that is truthful and accurate.
Phuket air is still good during the burning season. I wouln't say to come to Phuket during the rainy season. Sometimes it rains all day.
The answer is "no" and if you are already here, just go away. We are sick of tourist.
I was gunna watch this video but after almost 2 minutes you only said 1 thing a bunch of times……. NEXT.
Too many stoners riding around with ladyboys on the back of their bikes, acting like kings here — but back in their own countries, they were never the thoughtful type, just scammy losers
There are two primary reasons the Thailand YouTube space is overwhelmingly negative.
1). Bitterness drives a lot of men to come to Thailand.
2). People create content catering to that audience.
A lot of entitled dudes come here with all of their anger at the West, thinking a change of scenery, and not personal change, was all they needed.
Six months later, and they’re secretly bored, having no other hobbies other than drinking and complaining.
They then spend all day in social media, pretending Thailand, like the rest of the world, owes them something.
Thailand remains an amazing place. It will give you what you give it. It will be your mirror.
Every country in the world has become more expressive.
thailand lost it charm
Minister of Tourism and Sports Revealed the tourism situation from 1 January-8 June 2025, there are more than 15,016,878 foreign tourists who have accumulated in Thailand.
what are you talking about?
2% is not collapse
Excuse me sir, may i ask which is the best city to stay at in Thailand in your opinion. Im finally going to Thailand end of this year for 1 month :)))
Honestly, having a break during times without tourists has actually been a good thing. Thai people have had to adjust quite a lot — especially to the sheer volume of visitors, the cultural differences, and in particular, the aggressive behavior. Many were quite shocked by the rise in rudeness and petty crime, and it’s been disheartening to see Thai vendors and transgender individuals being treated with disrespect or even outright disdain by some foreign tourists, particularly from Israel and parts of Europe. Some tourists from other parts of Asia have also brought with them a culture of scams, like dining and dashing. If tourists are going to come back, it would be better if it happens seasonally, in more manageable flows.
Rather have good tourist then bad actors
How much money are you saving monthly by having sex alone?
Bro people are partying in Vietnam😅 Don't waste time visiting a dying place.
Cal also did a video on this subject recently. He said it seems to be less Chinese tourist coming to Thailand because their government is telling them Thailand isn’t safe. I was only there about two months, but I had no safety concerns.
Collapsed ? Just 4% down from same period of last year.
Chiang Mai is fine in January. I was there in JAN24 and 25, no problems. The smokey season kicks in in FEB
Great info! I'm leaning more towards Chiang Mai when I relocate.
It’s repetitive. Needs editing.
