I Don’t Trust The Media, So I Came To Mexico Myself 🇲🇽
Today is my first full day in Mexico City. And
before I came here, I kept seeing headlines and we are starting our day here in Mexico
City at the central plaza, Plaza de la Constit, which is currently full with these tents because
there’s some type of protest going on. And yeah, this area of the city, the historical
city center, is a very touristy area, but I would like to get a bit out of this area
now. So, I’m trying to find the metro station actually, which should be somewhere around here.
Excuse me. I’m looking for the metro. Da metro. Okay, gracias. Thank you. Okay,
my Spanish is still a bit limited, but I think he said sado, which means
closed. So maybe the station here is not open at the moment. Maybe
because of all the protest here, but there’s another one around the corner.
So that’s where I’m heading to now. And yeah, this is what Mexico really looks like. A bit
different compared to how you see Mexico in many American movies. For example, I don’t
know if you ever noticed it, but especially in American movies or Netflix serieses, when
there’s a scene that plays in Mexico, they often put like a yellowish filter over it. You
can especially see that for example in Breaking Bad. So next time you’re watching Breaking Bad
and there’s a scene that plays in Mexico. Maybe you will notice it. They put like a yellow filter
over it. But in reality, Mexico looks like this. Not as yellow as in Breaking Bad. And in case
you’re wondering what the protest here is for, I spoke with a local guy and he said these are
teachers protesting to lower the retirement age. Okay. And I found the entrance to the metro
station. So this is obviously my first time using the metro here in Mexico. Let’s see if it’s easy
to use, especially as a foreigner. This is the entrance or the exit or is it the same? I see
everyone walking inside here. Salida is Salida entrance or exit? I’m not sure. But yeah, as soon
as you enter the metro station, you have shops here selling glasses. Hola, I’m looking metro
down here. And ticket also down there. Okay, gracias. Okay, so down there I can also buy the
tickets. H this uh is not working at the moment, but that’s okay. I can use my own legs. Okay,
here we are. So, we have the entrances here, but I need to buy a ticket first. Do we have
ticket vending machines? I don’t see any. So, maybe I have to buy a ticket just here. Looks
like you have to go and speak to an actual person and on the other side. Okay. Gracias. So, I think she
just told me in order to go to the station where I want to go to, I have to use the other entrance on
the other side of the road. All right. And here, just like that, on the other side of the road,
we have the same again. Okay, I just learned that salida means exit, not entrance. So I have to
go on the other side here. Tas corina. Maybe that means entrance. And also here, no escalators and
also no elevators. So I’m wondering how people who can’t walk anymore. Maybe people in wheelchairs
are using the metro. Hola. I want to go to Pino. Uh-huh. See? Okay. I think I’m getting a card
now, which I then can reuse later again. Ah, recharge 20. Okay. Okay. Now I can use here.
Okay. Masc. Thank you. I think I have to tap it here now. Okay. Yeah. So, I think this is a
card that I just purchased and I can recharge it again and use it again and again, you know. And I
just uh literally just missed the train. But yeah, let’s see how frequently the trains are running
here because this is such a big city. I guess like every 2 3 minutes. And yeah, we do have
plenty of policemen here in the station. I see three over there. We are two at the entrance as
well. So, I actually do think that the metro here should be quite safe to use, at least here in the
center of the city. Wow. Literally a minute later, the next train is coming. And the train is looking
packed. Super packed. Okay. I hope they don’t have female only cards here. Maybe you remember I did
the mistake before entering the female card for example in Indonesia. But yeah, this seems to be a
mixed card here. And I want to go to Pino Suarez, which is only two stations from where I am now. So
there’s no electric uh like sign here. It’s like old school just written on the on the signs there.
Actually, I think it’s only one station because the other station in between is the one that is
closed at the moment. So good. I remembered that. So the next stop is going to be my stop already.
And yeah, this is the station that is closed at the moment. So yeah, literally no people here.
And yeah, just like that, we continue. So I no stop here at the moment. Okay, here’s the next
station. And yeah, what I noticed that there are no announcements. So you have to be very careful
to get off at the right station. So you really have to look onto the name and there I can see the
name Pino Suarez. Let’s see how easy it is to exit the station. And here the escalator is actually
working. But there are fewer people on the stairs. So I’m using the stairs. Yeah, I can see by the
amount of people here that this is probably a very popular mode of transportation for the locals also
to get around the city. I think this also connects to another station maybe. And also here are plenty
of shops, stores. You can buy drinks and snacks or music boxes. So these metro stations here are
also like little markets basically. Oh gosh, where’s the card? I always tend to lose these
little cards. Oh, here it is. Oh, I think I don’t even need to scan it. I can just walk through.
All right, so that was overall pretty easy to use the metro here, even as a foreigner. Okay, and
we are now in an area outside of the historical city center. So this area should be way less
touristy. And yeah, looking around here now, I don’t see any other foreigners so far.
And yeah, I’m looking for a very specific big market in this area now. Okay, while I’m
trying to find the market where I want to go to, there’s actually quite a large food area here.
And I’m getting hungry as well. So, let’s see if I can grab a snack here. It also smells very
good. And the area is full with locals. Oh, here we go. Look at this. That looks delicious. Hola.
What is this? What are you selling here? Taco and it’s like taco.
Uhhuh. See?
Okay. Can I get this one?
This is beef. Okay. Okay. So, I think this is basically a little
taco. Uh, no. Thanks. Aros is rice, right?
Rice. Okay. Okay. Please. Yes. See, see. I can sit
here. See? Okay. Gracias. Sit right here. Beast.
Beef steak. And that is beef. Beef. Okay. So, I think
delicios. Okay. Muian. I’m looking forward to this. So, I think it’s a little tortilla and
then we have beef and rice on top. And then you use the the lime.
Lemon. Lemon. Squeeze over it. Okay. Reminds me of
the Philippines. Yeah. This little lemon is also very popular. So, let’s uh squeeze
it over here. Just like this. Actually, I like to put a lot of it. Usually adds a
very fresh kick to the food. This one. Picant. Picant.
Salsa. Picant. Okay. We have spicy sauce. Speak English.
You need a teacher. Hey means practice, I think. But my English
is also not perfect. You saw the I don’t really understand. No. So I think maybe because the the dough
is very thin, they gave me two. Oh man, this is going to be difficult. Like I’m
feeling like half of the meat is going to fall fall down. Exactly. I already
lost a bit of the rice. But yeah, I actually really like the
meat and then the combination. It’s very good.
And as expected, adding the lime on top of it adds a very fresh
kick to the to the overall flavor. So it looks like this. We have three flavors basically or
four actually. The tortilla, the rice, the meat, and then the lime on top of it. So very nice
flavor combination in my mouth. This is actually very good. Muo. Okay. How much you get requestto?
22 20 30 Okay. Thank you. I’m looking for over there. Okay. Leos can walk. How many minutes?
20 minutes. 20 minutes.
Yeah. running. Okay. Okay. Gracias. Thank you very much.
Okay. All right. So, the market I’m looking for according to them here and then right. Oh,
that was actually a very uh delicious little meal. I have the feeling that tacos will become my
preferred food while I’m here in Mexico. This was the second time I ate tacos here and the second
time it was a really delicious experience. And yeah, the market basically continues and goes on
and on. Like I think there’s a main road right behind these stalls. But here we literally have
vendor after vendor after vendor. Must be like thousands of stalls here selling all types
of items. Looks like it’s mostly clothing, but also like what are we having here?
Cables, remote controllers, batteries, mirrors, and yeah, I think it should be common
sense that if you are in an area like this, no matter where in the world, you should be
careful because of pickpocketing. However, I could imagine that pickpocketing is more common
in Mexico City in the touristy areas because usually they like to target foreign tourists. This
is also interesting. If you want to buy something at these stalls, like at least on this side,
then you’re basically standing on the road. So, buying something here involves the risk of getting
hit by a car. And by the way, stay tuned later in the video. I’m also going to eat a proper
meal in a proper restaurant and I’m actually really looking forward to that. Okay, here we can
actually have a little glimpse onto the main road. The whole road here is one big market basically.
So, I’m walking here for like 10 minutes now and the whole time it’s basically one big market.
That is incredible. Excuse me. Mercedes. Huh? Behind the metro. Okay. Okay. Gracias.
Okay. Muchas. Gracias. Thank you. Okay. I think he means that the
big market is behind the metro station. I also really have to say that the people I met so
far here in Mexico were really really friendly. Everyone I’ve spoken to so far. Just like small
interactions like here and there or the lady earlier at the taco place. Like I really have
a good first impression here of the people in Mexico overall. Okay. And I think I found the
market that I was looking for. But uh yeah, basically the whole way to get here was one big
market. But yeah, this place is called Mercadom Mercer, I think. And yeah, I’m looking for
one specific item. If you know my channel, you know what I always buy in each country, a
local football jersey. And yeah, as far as I know, football is very, very popular here in Mexico. Or
soccer for all my American viewers. For example, in one of the last World Cups in 2018, Mexico
played against my country Germany. And I think the result was 1 zero for Mexico. So they also
actually have quite a good team. Excuse me. I’m looking for Kamiseta the football. No. No. No.
No. Maybe outside in. Okay. Okay. Perfect. Okay. I think they said that inside I actually
can’t find football jerseys, but outside. Yeah. Definitely not a touristy area here. I
haven’t seen any tourists here yet. What are we having here? We have a protein bar here. Hola.
What is this? What are you selling here? Lift. Oh, no. Tai.
Chai. Chai.
You say chai here. Okay. Okay.
Okay. Okay. Gracias. Okay. To be honest, I’m not
really sure what I will get now. I think I will get a tea combined with some flavor.
And I think she’s selling like vitamin mix type of drinks there. Let’s see. Just
curious to to try something. And I’m also Yeah, actually keen to have a little
rest now. Like walking around there for 20 minutes on this busy market. Here’s a
bit of a quiet, peaceful area. Oh, gracias. Why do I get a spoon? Actually, let’s have a
look how she prepares the drink. So, she has really really large uh glasses here. Grande.
Grande. Mu grande. And then she adds this powder mix here. So, looks like here in
Mexico they say chai. Like, you know, half of the world is saying tea.
Mexican chili. [Laughter] Fruttas. Okay. Okay. Okay. Now she’s adding
a Okay. See, see, see, po straw. Okay, gracias. Thank you very much. I think this
is the biggest glass I have ever seen in my life other than German beer glasses, which
I usually are often one liter glasses. So, I have absolutely no idea what this drink is
now. But yeah, stirring it. It’s It’s not hot. It’s a cold drink. There’s a very fruity taste to
it. And yet, it’s cold, not warm. It also tastes a little bit like cardamon, I think. So, like a
tea combined with a fruity flavor. I’m not sure what type of fruit she added. Maybe you can
see it down there. The fruit that she added, but it looked like some type of dry fruit maybe.
But I actually like it. Like a sweet little refreshing drink. Okay, I think I can actually
also eat these fruits. Maybe that’s what the spoon is for. See, she was curious how I like it.
But actually quite nice. Okay. Mushas gracias. That was very good. Okay. How much? 45.
45. Okay. Okay. That was a refreshing little stop here on the market. And yeah, as you can see, the
market is huge. It goes on and on here. And yeah, this is like an indoor hall here as you can
see. So, there’s a roof on top of us. Actually, very similar like a big market in Southeast Asia
especially. Like this reminds me a lot about a market I have been to in Vietnam or Cambodia
or Bangkok. Also very similar vibes. And you can basically buy everything here. Excuse
me. I’m looking for kamic the football. Can I see?
Okay. Gracias. Thank you. Okay. I was just curious if I asked another vendor. Maybe
she knows more about football shirts, but she also said outside. Okay. And here I am outside.
Very nice atmosphere here with the the music in the background. And then there’s overall a nice
vibe here. People are smiling. People are looking happy, friendly. So, I can really say overall,
let me get away from the music first. Yeah, the music is probably copyrighted and YouTube
doesn’t like it if I have copyrighted music in the background of my videos, but yeah, here is fine.
So, what I wanted to say is that overall I have to say I feel quite safe here. There has not been
a single situation so far here yet where I felt like hm this might be a bit dangerous or not safe
at all. So, so far I feel very safe. But yeah, we are going to visit uh two more areas in
the city later on in this video. But first, I want to find a football jersey. And I think
I’m spotting football jerseys right here. Hola. How much are your football jerseys here?
Uh, contesta. How much Sentosa? What’s that? 170, I think.
But this one parano. Ah, you have more inside
here. Oh, nice. KSL kamicos no even Germany here. Let’s see if I can spot any
German teams here. Usually you can see like Bayern Munich or Borosia Dortmund in foreign countries
but here I think it’s only the German national jersey and then we have Real Madrid many Real
Madrid Barcelona Milan Chelsea but I don’t see any German team here. Okay. I think the green one
is the original one. I can try. See? See? Okay, let’s see if I can try this one. All right,
so I think this is the the home jersey, the traditional green color of the Mexican
jersey, right? I think it actually fits you. I’m not sure if Mexico is a bargaining
country or not. Actually, I don’t know. So, maybe you’re not supposed to bargain here. So,
I just wanted to try. But seems like she’s not lowering the price. So, I think I’m just going
to pay the the price that she was asking for. Yeah. Let me know in the comments if you are
from Mexico. Can you actually bargain on these markets or is that not a thing to do here?
So, I hope I understood her correctly. And the price is 170 pesos. Okay. Much graces. Thank
you very much. And yeah, 30 pesos change. So, the total price was 170 pesos. Actually, I see many
people wearing this jersey here. I don’t know, maybe this is a local team. If you’re from Mexico,
let me know because many people I saw around here are wearing exactly this jersey. Okay, so I have
the jersey that I’m looking for in every country. Mission successful. Okay, in order to get to
my next destination, I’m going to use Uber, which I think is the safest way to get around
the city with a taxi. Okay, but looks like uh it’s not that easy to get a ride nearby.
So, the next driver is 14 minutes away. So, I have to wait a little bit here now. But
yeah, you can also see plenty of regular taxis cruising around. But yeah, when I did my research
about visiting Mexico City, everywhere I read, avoid these usual taxis on the road. And here
is my Uber. Here we go. Hello. All right. So, in total, I waited about 15 minutes here.
Now, I also had to cancel the previous driver because he just wasn’t moving. Maybe getting an
Uber is not as rightly possible as I thought it would be here in the city. I could imagine
it’s probably easier to get an Uber in the touristy places, which this is not.
Do you speak English? Uh, a little. A little bit.
Speak English. How about safety? Like, I read some areas
in the city are not safe. some areas because many many
drughuh and many stall as a tourist um any problems
not so much problem. Uhhuh. But if you are search drugs uh place red
and search the problems. Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah.
So, I think he’s trying to say as long as you don’t search for the problems,
then you will be fine. So, in general, it’s safe. In general, safe.
In general, safe. Okay. Okay. And I am in another part of the city now. And have
a look at this. There are so many market stalls here and street food vendors. I almost feel like
the whole city is just one big market. That is actually very, very interesting. Although, I do
think that the area where we’re going to end up later is going to be a different area. Actually,
something that I also see all around the city are people offering shoe cleaning. And actually,
my shoes could need a bit of cleaning. Hola, can I get my shoe cleaned here? Can you clean
my shoe? See? Uh, qutoa 30. Okay. Mian. Oh, okay. So, I’m sitting right here. And just
like that, he’s starting to do his work. And he has many uh different items here to work
with, like even like a toothbrush. I’m not sure how you call this in English. Putting some type
of foam on my shoes now. So yeah, let’s see if my shoe will look better after this. Oh, he’s
adding a lot of this cream or soap everywhere. I’m now using the towel to get rid of everything.
I think the business of cleaning shoes on the street is actually a very old business.
I’ve never seen this before in my country, Germany. But I think it also existed
like 50 60 years ago in Germany. Oh, and he’s adding a second layer of foam again.
And cleaning it off again with the towel. Just like this. Yeah. Sometimes I actually clean my
shoes myself. I just put them in the washing machine actually. All right. And I think
these are the final touches on my right shoe. Oh wow. I am already very impressed. I
mean, if you can see the difference between the right shoe and the left shoe, you
can already see a big difference. Oh, opening my shoes. Closing them again. He’s
making it more tight. Yeah. Look at this. Yes.
Okay. Yeah. Look at the difference here. Wow. Yeah. So, now he’s going to
do the same with the second shoe. And then we will have both sides looking I would say this looks
almost brand new. Pretty good. Yeah. I think 30 pesos is a very local price. I don’t think this
is a tourist price. And I always like to reward people who don’t try to overcharge me just because
I’m a tourist. So, I will give him a little tip as well. Plus, he’s really really doing a good job.
And uh he’s an old gentleman probably sitting here by the side of the road all day. Muian muian mush
gracias. Oh, they look almost brand new again. Oh, I’m very happy. Thank you very much. Thank you
very much. You have 100. I want to give him 100. That’s okay. Okay. Thank you very much. Gracias.
All right. That was a cool experience. And wow, we have a very old German car here. Folks wagon.
Oh, these cars were very popular in Germany in the ‘9s. When I was a little boy, I remember seeing
many of these cars on the streets in Germany. Today, you can’t really see them anymore
in Germany. It’s very rare, but uh yeah, they used to be very popular and very cool to uh
to spot one of these here in Mexico City. Would not have expected that to be honest. And yet, the
park here is called I think Alameda Park. And I actually read that this is the oldest public park
in this part of the world dating back to 1592. So can you imagine like 3 400 years ago? People
already walked through this area. Maybe also grabbed some snacks here and there. I’m not sure.
Street food already was a thing like 3 400 years ago probably. I guess so. And wow, this right
here reminds me actually of the Berlin wall. the wall that we used to have in Berlin many many
years ago like over 30 years ago separating east and west Berlin I mean that was before I was born
Germany then got reunified but uh you can actually if you’re visiting our capital Berlin in Germany
you can still find some remaining pieces of uh the wall that were left over and you can have
a look at them now and actually reminds me about that here I’m not sure what this is for here
maybe to protect the the building right behind it it’s completely blocked with the these gates.
Interesting. And also here in this area, plenty of policemen around. So also here, I can say I
feel very safe. Actually, I’m not sure if the vibe would be different in these areas after sunset.
I mean, I haven’t been out here yet so far after sunset, so I can’t really judge that. Maybe if you
have been to Mexico City before and you have also been out here after sunset, please let us know in
the comments what were your experiences. I’d be curious to read that and I think many other people
as well. And unfortunately, it does look like a rain is coming. The clouds are looking pretty
dark over there. So fingers crossed that is not going to happen. All right. And here we have the
rain. And look at all the people running now. The rain actually started very suddenly. Everyone
is trying to cover here now. Yeah. Looks like similar like in Southeast Asia, the rain can come
very quick and sudden. Oh, and they really seem to like protests in this city. There’s a big
protest going on now despite the rain. Excuse me. Hold on. Can I get a ride? See, I want to go to uh
this place. Okay. How much? No. Why did I say? Okay. Okay. So, this seems to
be the Mexican version of a touktok. I think it is actually an electric bike that he’s driving
here. And yeah, it is still uh raining outside and actually the protest is also still going on.
I’m literally waiting here for like 20 minutes already now. And for the whole time, people
are walking by here as part of the protest. So, it’s a very big one. And yeah, he is prepared for
the weather condition now. So, he actually has a rooftop here and these sides. So, I’m not getting
wet inside here, which is pretty good. And yeah, the next location is about a 10-minute ride
away now. I know you can hear it. Well, you can’t hear it. That’s the point. It’s
electric. It’s very quiet. Very nice. Actually, you can easily sit inside here with two persons.
Actually, there’s even another chair here. Maybe a third person can in theory sit here as well.
Maybe a child. I know you can see it here. Food stall after food store. Everywhere, literally the
whole city. Like every area where we have been to so far is covered with market stalls, street
vendors, street food. So, that really seems to be a thing here in Mexico City. I’m wondering if it’s
also the case in other cities in Mexico. Yeah, after Mexico City, I’m also going to visit two
more cities here in this country. Actually, I saw many of these electric bikes cruising
around the city, especially the area around the historical city center. Plenty of them available.
So, they seem to be a quick and convenient way to get around the city for like short distances.
Yeah, most of them are electric like this one, but I also saw some of them like old school
bicycles where the driver actually has to do all the working with the legs. All right. All right.
And we have arrived. Okay. And the area where we are now is called Roma. And I have been told this
is one of the best areas in the city actually like the upscale area. Many fancy restaurants,
rooftop bars, and also a very safe area. Yeah, you can definitely see it’s not as crowded here
compared to the previous areas, but this might also be because it was just raining. But I don’t
see as many street stalls here or street vendors. So, I think even if it would not have rained just
a few minutes ago, it would be way less crowded here. And yeah, actually, I plan to explore
this area a bit more in depth. But, uh, yeah, because the weather is not really that nice at
the moment. The floor is red. It’s still a bit of rain coming down. I think I will head straight
to the restaurant that I’m trying to find here, which has been highly recommended to me. Oh,
look at this. They also have street performers here at the traffic lights. Reminds me a lot
about Indonesia where this is also very common. So he’s doing a little show while the lights
are red and then he’s collecting some money probably or people actually give him some
money. Also tough job especially in the rain here and also here a big police presence
around and I remember when I was in China a few months ago in the Ching Jang province in West
China. I also saw plenty of policemen around uh the cities there. And I remember I said in the
video that I filmed there, I don’t know if this huge presence of police officers makes me feel
safer or less safe because I always think that if there are so many policemen around, there must
be a reason for it, right? Okay. And I found the restaurant. It’s right over there, Santa Habanero,
which has been highly recommended to me. So, I’m very excited now to have my first
proper Mexican meal, not only street food. person. Okay.
Oh, yeah. Maybe outside here. Okay. I’m okay. My English is my
name is Christopher. And you, sir? I’m Ken. Okay. Nice to meet you again.
I’m from Germany. So Almana. Okay. Perfect. And yeah, while I’m waiting for
the food, I can already tell you that I really, really enjoyed my first full day here
in Mexico. I felt safe throughout the whole day. The people were very friendly and
welcoming. Not everyone here speaks English, which is totally fine from me, but just if you’re
traveling here, know what to expect. And yeah, today proved me again that you shouldn’t listen
to the media. It’s always better to travel to a country to see it for yourself and figure out
your own opinion about something. And yeah, this is such an important lesson in life actually.
Always figure out your own opinion. See it for yourself and don’t just trust the media or what
other people are telling you. Although yes, I have to admit I can’t judge a whole country
yet just after being here for literally 2 days and just after getting some first impressions.
So that has to be mentioned as well. But still, I think the impressions I got so far are different
compared to what I would have expected based on how Mexico is usually portrayed in the media.
Okay. And the drink has arrived already. Looks like a like a cocktail almost. So, let’s see if
I can figure out what’s actually inside. It looks like a like a milk soda almost, you know. So,
let’s give it a try. M. I think there’s cinnamon inside. I love cinnamon. So, I think it is water,
milk, and cinnamon. So, it’s not that creamy like regular milk. It’s a thin drink. And oh, I love
the the cinnamon kick to it. Oh, that’s actually a very great drink. Okay. And a very interesting
uh turn of events. I just translated the menu with Google Translate. And probably it would have
been a good idea to uh translate the menu before I’m ordering some food because I actually
ordered casadilla with grasshoppers. Well, I didn’t know that eating grasshoppers is a
thing here in Mexico, but apparently it is. But uh we are going to be open-minded. And now
looks like I’m going to try grasshoppers today, which I can already see here. Yeah, here is a a
little grasshopper. I actually tried grasshoppers before many, many years ago in Thailand. I don’t
really remember it. I think they were actually pretty tasteless. So, let’s give it a try. So,
the casadilla actually looks quite good. I would have preferred if there would be now a chicken
or beef inside or pork, but let’s give it a try. M. Oh, wow. Oh. Oh. Okay. Two things.
The cheese is extremely delicious. Very, very nice. And biting on the grasshoppers feels
weird. I think the grasshopper itself doesn’t have a big flavor to it. So, the inside is very
shallow. I think it’s just that you bite onto it, it feels weird because your head is playing
with you. You know what you’re eating and that makes it a bit weird, you know. I think though I
would prefer this meal without the grasshoppers, to be honest. And I also have this
h sauce on the side, salsa verde, which translates to green sauce. And he
said, “Be careful. It could be a bit spicy, but I’m curious to try.” So, let me dip it inside
carefully. Very nice actually. And to be honest, not really spicy. Maybe the aftertaste a
little bit, but definitely handable. So, I’m actually going toh put a bit more of the sauce
on top of my quesadilla. So, overall, I would say quite a good meal. Okay. And I actually finished
the whole quesadilla. I just uh pulled out some of the grasshoppers because it was just uh a
bit too much for me. And yeah, would I order quesadilla with grasshoppers again? Probably not.
But was it bad or weird to eat? Also not. And now I learned grasshopper in Spanish means chapel.
So the next time I’m seeing that on a menu, I know better. Okay, gracias. Thank you very much.
Thank you. All right. And the price I paid for the meal and the drink was 273 pesos. And yeah,
stay tuned. In the next video, I’m going to travel to another city here in Mexico. And if you
haven’t seen my previous video in which I arrived here in Mexico City and got some very first
impressions, then feel free to check out the video right here. Stay healthy, stay positive,
and then see you in the next episode. Cho guys.
I Don’t Trust The Media, So I Came To Mexico Myself – First Impressions Of Mexico City
My arrival in Mexico City: https://youtu.be/zvdZEMqqw0o?si=qLH3K54Sb4lIpqS9
Many headlines claim that Mexico — including Mexico City — is too dangerous for tourists. Stories about crime, robberies, and travel warnings often dominate the media. But is that the full picture? In this video, I decided to come to Mexico City myself to find out what it’s really like on the ground. This was my first time in Mexico, and I spent the day exploring different areas of the capital — from well-known spots to more local neighborhoods — to get my own first impressions of Mexico. I wanted to see: Is Mexico safe? Can you travel here as a foreigner without problems? Or is the danger real? Join me as I walk through the streets, talk to locals, and share my honest experience. If you’re thinking about traveling Mexico, this Mexico vlog will give you a raw and unfiltered look at what it’s really like. This Mexico City vlog is my way of finding the truth behind the headlines. So — should you visit? Let’s find out together.

If a restaurant doesn’t have prices on menus- ask first, don’t trust it will be a good price
Try to finish your day by 9pm
Grasshopper Quesadillas are great!
Please go to Iran next
Loved your video
Mexico city receives every person in the world, but the only requirement from us is respect to our culture, I think that must exist some tax to the not locals and specially for foreigners that comes to mexican neighbordhoods since this situation start to raising the local prices.
Mexico's a great emerging market because it's next door to the United States. But one must ask, why is Canada a 1'st world country due to geography?
Yes, the media always makes places seem more dangerous. I have been to Chicago many times and have never felt unsafe. But the media only talks about all the shootings.
It's funny that the US is giving those warnings, when they can't even send their kids to school without knowing if they'll come back home because some other kid got ahold of weapons. Mexico is not as safe as Dubai, sure. But if you have common sense, like in most other countries, you will be just fine. I've been visiting Mexico since I was a kid and I've never had any issues. Anyway, hope you had a great time there !
Hello thanks for video maybe one day can visit Russia
Russian people are welcome you
Welcome to Mexico! Indeed, Mexico is not a bargaining country. People will not say it to your face, but they will just think you are cheap 🙂
Visit Taxco, Guerrero, they use Volkswagen Beetles as taxis there! They are everywhere in the little city. There must be about 100 cars like that. We call them vochitos😊. Besides, Taxco is a tiny, beautiful city. It looks like an Italian town.
bro don't vist Mexico if you can speak our langueche
Def a bargaining country, but 170 isnt bad, rhey didnt try to over charge you. She might have given you a smaller shirt tho 😂 the other jersey is cruz azul, local team , LA MÁQUINA
Yellow filter? Mexico is big country, move closer to border towns. Dusty and dirty is all you will find
I’m really enjoying this Mexico series Ken. Can’t wait for more videos!
Its still dangerous so please he careful u can eaisly run into cartel demanding money
Dude, mexico isn't safe. You have to take measures to be safe. It shouldn't be that way.
I am going to recommend an excellent restaurant for you in the Historic Center are, which is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. El Cardenal. There's two in Centro Historico. I like the one closer to the Zocalo.
13:42 No munchis 😂
Kurt Caz it’s laughing at this title
Subbed
Are the protests crazy there right now?
Of course Mexicans are generally friendly and welcoming to visitors, that doesn't erase the inherent danger built in by cartels and gangs. Also remember, the U.S State Dept. issued the warning to AMERICANS. As Americans are the most homicides of foreigners, by far. Americans are in danger inherently, just for being American. Germans, not so much(although there was a very high profile case involving Germans) You travel asses are all the same. You CAN"T ERASE the crime because you didn't experience it yourself. Be better. In which country were more Americans killed? Iran? Afghanistan? North Korea? Egypt? Turkey? The answer is Mexico. In 2022 253 Americans were homicide victims in Mexico, the last year with such statistics available.
The media always hates on mexico
23:00 bro, those cars are the most loved ones in mexico, we call them "vochos" i dont know why lol
