9 NEW Things that Are BANNED on FLIGHTS 2025
flying in 2025 the TSA and international airlines have quietly banned a list of everyday items some of them you probably packed last time without a second thought whether it’s new tech or popular snacks airport rules have changed before you head to the gate here’s what not to bring this month item number one smart water bottles with built-in electronics reusable bottles are encouraged but in 2025 smart bottles with Bluetooth syncing temperature sensors or wireless charging pads are raising red flags tsa has now included certain smart bottles on its additional screening list due to embedded batteries and hidden wiring at Atlanta Hartsfield one traveler’s high-end bottle delayed the security line when the scanner flagged a lithium cell embedded in the base if your bottle connects to an app or has any kind of charger port it’s now subject to inspection and in some cases outright rejection stick to regular stainless steel or BPA free bottles without electronics number two external hard drives with encryption software this isn’t about weight or wires it’s about data as cyber security threats rise multiple countries including China Russia and parts of the Middle East have implemented restrictions on encrypted digital storage devices brought through customs in 2025 several travelers reported having their encrypted drives confiscated or temporarily seized for inspection at international airports while TSA allows hard drives and carryons if your trip includes countries with digital data control laws especially where encryption is restricted you could face serious delays or interrogation one journalist traveling to Beijing had his external SSD seized and was denied entry until it was wiped if you’re carrying confidential work consider cloud backup instead or encrypt only after arrival number three certain supplements and herbal remedies supplements like melatonin or CBD were already under scrutiny but in 2025 the list has grown items likeratom St john’s wart or high potency sleep aids now fall under restricted substance categories in several countries even TSA has begun detaining certain unbranded supplement bottles for field testing if the contents are unlabeled or suspicious in Miami a wellness blogger had $200 worth of imported herbal capsules taken by agents who couldn’t verify the contents to stay safe carry only sealed clearly labeled supplements preferably mainstream brands anything in ziplocks pill organizers or unlabeled bags can be flagged as suspicious even if it’s legal number four compressed gas cartridges you might know that CO2 cartridges for airsoft guns or life vests need approval but in 2025 that rules extended to beauty gadgets travel razors and even facial misters that use pressurized gas one traveler flying out of JFK had her $120 micro misting skinare device confiscated when TSA agents found it contained a non- removable gas capsule the new rule bans all pressurized cartridges unless they’re declared labeled and fall under size limits this affects travel razors mini airbrushes even soda machines like Soda Stream tsa now advises passengers to assume anything under pressure is restricted especially if it’s in a spray or misting format number five powdered substances over 12 o it’s no longer just about liquids in 2025 the TSA has cracked down on powders over 12 ounces especially if they’re unsealed or not in original packaging that means protein powders baby formula powdered milk and even powdered drink mixes can trigger secondary screening or be confiscated a gymgoer flying from Phoenix had his whey protein binned because it was stored in an unmarked plastic bag agents now treat all unmarked powders as potential chemical threats until tested spices baking mixes and cosmetic powders like setting powder or foot powder can also fall under this rule keep powders in labeled sealed containers and if you’re carrying over the limit consider checking it in or premixing it before travel to avoid delay or loss number six certain Bluetooth trackers air Tag lovers heads up as of mid 2025 some international carriers particularly in Europe and Asia have banned the use of real-time Bluetooth tracking devices like Air Tags in checked baggage citing interference concerns with aircraft systems lufansza Korean Air and a few Middle Eastern airlines updated their terms of carriage stating that Bluetooth devices transmitting constantly without passenger control present ongoing signal activity that interferes with aircraft telemetry tsa has issued a review in progress but hasn’t implemented a blanket rule yet one traveler flying from New York to Berlin had to remove her Air Tag from a check suitcase or leave the bag behind if you’re flying internationally especially with layovers in stricter regions double check airline policies before tossing a tracker into your luggage you may still use trackers and carryons but for checked bags the rule varies wildly by region if you’re finding this helpful hit that subscribe button we break down real travel updates policy changes and packing tips every week so your next flight can be stress-free now let’s keep going number seven DIY snack packs in aluminum foil homemade snacks are still allowed but not if they’re wrapped in foil in 2025 TSA’s upgraded scanners flag aluminum wrapped items as opaque anomalies often leading to full bag searches a mom flying with her kids from Denver packed sandwiches in foil and ended up with her bag delayed for 30 minutes even worse multiple foil items stacked together like wraps burritos or candy bars can resemble weapon parts or contraband shapes in X-ray scans agents now recommend using clear plastic wrap or transparent containers instead tsa isn’t banning your food they’re just asking you to pack it in a way that doesn’t slow the line down or get misread by the scanner if you’re meal prepping for your flight keep it foil-free and easy to inspect at a glance number eight some ecigarettes and disposable vapes in early 2025 TSA banned select disposable vape models that were found to contain unregulated lithium battery cells while ecigarettes are still generally allowed in carry-on certain brands with known overheating risks especially imported or counterfeit models have been blacklisted TSA now uses serial numbers and visual recognition systems to flag banned units a traveler at LAX had their disposable vape confiscated not because of nicotine but because the battery model was flagged by the FAA brands from smaller or foreign manufacturers are especially vulnerable to sudden bans if you’re unsure whether your vape is on the list either leave it behind or contact TSA Cares ahead of your flight and remember you’re still not allowed to use or charge vapes on board no matter the type number nine popular over-the-counter meds in certain countries this one’s tricky in the US medications like pseudoephadrine or diffhydramine are common but in 2025 several countries have tightened bands japan the UAE and even Nigeria now classify some of these as controlled substances what’s over the counter in America could be considered narcotic elsewhere if you’re carrying them while transiting or landing in those countries even in small quantities they can be confiscated or even lead to legal consequences one traveler transiting through Dubai was detained briefly for carrying allergy pills that are illegal there some countries require a doctor’s note or prescription even for Advil or sleep aids tsa won’t stop you but border control might always check international medication restrictions before flying abroad especially if your trip includes multiple stopovers bonus reminder security isn’t just about dangerous items what most travelers don’t realize is that bands aren’t just about danger they’re about uncertainty anything the scanner can’t clearly identify gets flagged that means unfamiliar packaging off-brand electronics or unmarked powders and pills can cause delays even if they’re technically legal airports use a combination of AI image recognition and manual checks now if the system can’t immediately determine what an item is and if the agent isn’t sure either it’s easier to confiscate than to debate a woman flying from Seattle lost a perfectly legal batterypowered travel fan just because it had no branding and a blinking LED light no rule was broken but she didn’t get the fan back what you can do instead stay updated with the TSA’s what can I bring tool on their website it’s frequently updated with 2025’s evolving list of restricted items including those banned by international airports for international flights always check the IATA dangerous goods guide or your airlines baggage rules before packing anything high-tech medicinal or unusual also when in doubt leave it out or at least move it to your checked bag after confirming it’s allowed and keep receipts or original labels for supplements tech items and meds it could be the difference between a smooth check-in and getting pulled aside

Russia, China are controlling these devices? What a joke! They’re the biggest adversaries for America and they are upset that they can’t steal your data if you have encrypted data!!!
Don’t get ripped off by super $$ food at airports! Pack your own and take it, without foil. It’s day light robbery these days to buy food at the airport
Airlines baggage info is USELESS!!! They can’t even get their own baggage info accurately and most airlines websites are not kept up to date. It’s frustrating and aggravating to travel anymore, despite my passion for traveling!
So bitcoin cold storage is a challenge?
Can you NOT SKIP ADS NOW AT ALL> OMFG.
Here's I think of all this. RIDICULOUS BULLSHIT, that's why I don't fly
In India, my Rs 48 talcum powder Nycil was taken away at check in. 😂
We are travelling to Uganda soon. We will both bring letters from our doctors listing our medications and usage. I had been considering getting a water bottle that sterilises the water, but I don’t want to risk losing it. Guess I’ll just get cholera instead.
Really we can’t keep up way too many changes
Can you possibly say any more without saying a single thing definitively?!
Nonsensical content farming
Use a car and save your dignity !!!
if your drinking bottle connects to an app 🤦🏻
So much time and effort wasted on minutely trivial stuff. I guess it's employment security. How many terrorists have been caught since they started requiring us to take off our shoes and since they started restricting basic cosmetics?
They pat us down and/or radiate us, seeing our naked outline in the process, they make us undress, they rifle through our stuff and confiscate perfectly innocent stuff (like my can of reindeer meat cakes). They might even take valuables from our luggage as they rifle through it, without retribution. But it's still not enough – the bureaucracy is too big, so they have to do something: find new ways to tighten the screws on the travelers.
Foil is not healthy anyway!

Traveling is definitely not as fun as it used to be. And the airlines squeezed in more seats and then wants us to check in our carry on because they surely have not expanded the overhead bin to accommodate more passengers.
Honestly sir, this unlabelled White powder is innocent!
I wonder if any of these is as dangerous as flying on a Boeing.
