Is the Amalfi Coast Worth Visiting? | Honest Travel Guide

Hello, I’m back and behind me we have Mount Vuvius. We are heading up to Rella where we’ll be staying for the next few nights um as kind of the final part of our trip. But first, let’s just take a look at this view. 17th. Just going to get our car parked for us cuz that’s very steep. Just casual service. We are uh just down the road from our villa in Rallo. Uh it’s absolutely spectacular. We have amazing views of the ocean or the sea. Um there’s a lot of people. We’re going to explore and it’s going to be awesome. come out in the sun. I can’t see it. We are currently exploring Villa Rufolo in Rell. Um, which was built in the 13th century by a family of the same name and at one point boasted more rooms than days in the calendar year. Fun fact from this guide book. Very beautiful so far. pretty huge portion of the villa was actually lost just to time and erosion um right on the coast. So that probably played a part in it. It was restored to a pretty decent um space by a Scottish author named Francis Neville Reed in case you’ve heard of him. And it’s really awesome that we get to explore this place now. Whoa. more funny faces. The thumbnail. I was going to do you like a Instagram. We are wrapping up our tour of this beautiful villa. Uh would I recommend going? Absolutely. Would I recommend going on a beautiful day like we’ve had it? Absolutely even more. Um it’s only €8, so it’s not a huge investment, but you do get to be outside and uh it’s just really awesome to be here. So, on to the next one. Wow. We’ve got our dinner at our accommodation. Look at that. Come on. Good morning. We are on our way to the beach at Trani Beach. It’s in between Amalfi and Minori. We’re going to walk down. Should take us about an hour. Start of the trek down on stairs. This walk is so good so far. Loving it. Now I have the backpack. So I’m a real backpacker. Stairs for days. My leg is literally shaking. We still got a ways to go down. So, following the road. Hectic. My legs are still shaking. We have made it to Atrani. We’re actually going to go into the town and then back down to the beach because those roads are hectic. The water is glistening. I’m very excited to go swimming. And if we don’t like any of the beaches, we’ll come back to the one that we just saw. Whoa. Hey, Tom. After a wonderful few hours on the beach at Arroni, the one behind me, we’re going to walk to Amalfi and then slowly make our way back to our accommodation. Um, I’d say Atrani is actually quite a good place to go. It’s a lot cheaper than Rell and what we’ve been told Amalfi is. So, um, yeah, the beach is nice. It’s pretty much the same as a Malfi. Exciting. Love it here. Very peaceful. It is very busy here. Very busy. So, um there seems to be a lot of this in a malti. Lots of cubes. cute and people have to come on a train. Amalfi, the town behind me is obviously super scenic, super spectacular. Tom, part of the view. I think comparatively to Rell, it is obviously much bigger, so therefore way more chaotic, Rell is still very touristy. Um, but I think because you’re a little bit more removed from the beach and because it’s not as big, um, it doesn’t feel as much. Um, Atrony is kind of where I would say is the best place. You get the beach, you get this beautiful scenery, but you don’t get the crowds. All the downhill we did to get to the beach, we’re now reversing and going uphill. We’ll see how this goes. Hectic stairs for days. Toasty, hectic. We made it to Rell. Got ourselves some food for dinner. Time to head home. Yes. After taking yesterday to really just relax and rest up, um we are going to head down to Pompei. I’m so excited. Um, yeah, we’re going to go see the ruins and just learn a little bit more about the history. Haven’t really thought much about Pompei since uh I took Latin back in grade nine, eight, so we’ll see. Yo, made it to the Pompei parking. It is 4 minutes till 9:00, which is when it opens. And it is very busy, but I’m assuming not as busy as it actually gets. We’ve got all our luggage in the car, so we’ve decided to take our valuables. I’m taking my backpack because it has um my laptop and this has my passport. Hacks. So, it has started to rain, but I mean historically this is incredible. Feels weird. I studied this in middle school and uh feels so surreal to be here. Can’t recommend this enough. It’s not that expensive. It’s worth it. You can do it with an audio guide or without. You can do a guided tour if you want. Absolutely spectacular. Look at this. This was not original. This was original. This was here over 2,000 years ago. Crazy. Not sure how authentic this is, but I’m going to get some. Cornetto acquired. Not sure they had this back in 79 AD, but you know, we live and we learn. Looks like the sun came out, which is lovely. Still a bit cloudy, but much better than rain. If anyone of you ever took Cambridge Latin course, we’re going to go to Kaillius’s house. Kilius wasn’t real as far as we’re aware, but he’s based off whoever lived in that house. Let’s take this gluten-free calzone. Well, they said they can’t. Yes.
