[Musique] In this new video I invite you to travel to Provence Four days to discover dreamlike landscapes charming villages and that special light that makes everything shine a little brighter Provence is first and foremost its dazzling nature lavender fields as far as the eye can see sun-drenched olive trees and the song of cicadas that accompanies every moment It’s also the flamboyant colors of ochre [Musique] [Applaudissements] markets filled with the scent of spices and ripe fruit peaceful streets and shaded terraces That’s exactly what I’m offering you in this getaway We begin with the Ochre Rocks of Roussillon and the mysterious Fontaine de Vaucluse then continue with a sensory journey through the Carrières de lumières [Musique] and the bustling streets of Les Baux de Provence Then hop on a railbike to pedal through the countryside [Applaudissements] before exploring Alphonse Daudet’s windmills And we’ll end on a high note with the ancient ruins of Glanum and the beating heart of Saint Rémy de Provence Ready to experience Provence in a different way? So let’s go! [Musique] For this first day we’re starting off strong with an almost surreal place [Musique] Fontaine de Vaucluse A spring that springs out of nowhere powerful mysterious This is where the Sorgue River begins nestled in lush greenery and mossy rocks [Musique] The water is a deep emerald green almost translucent We walk along the river stopping and listening The sound of the water the birdsong… it’s alive pure and soothing [Musique] At the beginning of the trail which runs along the Sorgue we discover small shops an artisanal glassworks and above all a paper mill with its old watermill A little trip back in time not to be missed [Musique] A little further on a café by the water beckons We stop admire and savor this unique setting [Musique] And for lunch We fell for a table suspended above the river magical That day we enjoyed grilled andouillette a veggie salad and a fish risotto simple authentic and flavorful dishes But a word of advice remember to book in advance especially during peak season [Musique] In the afternoon the atmosphere changes Head to the fields of Provence go to Roussillon We stop for a photo op in Gordes this hilltop village is a gem Its stone houses its sweeping view everything is photogenic [Applaudissements] After this stop in Gordes it’s impossible not to make a detour to Sénanque Abbey Nestled in a secluded valley this 12th-century Cistercian abbey seems timeless It is surrounded by lavender fields as far as the eye can see a true living tableau especially in summer when everything is in bloom The silence is almost sacred broken only by the buzzing of bees or the breeze blowing through the lavender Whether you choose to visit it or simply admire it from the outside it’s a suspended moment a moment of calm and beauty amidst the hustle and bustle of the world Then we hit the road again towards Roussillon still amazed by this peaceful and spiritual stopover And on the road fields of poppies lavender and that typical southern light The journey truly begins. Then we arrive in Roussillon Welcome to one of the most astonishing landscapes in Provence The Ochres are a flamboyant almost surreal setting [Musique] A canyon with red yellow and orange cliffs sculpted by time We walk along a Wild West-style trail surrounded by pine trees silence and incredible light. The site offers two loops: a short one of about 1 km, and a longer one almost 2 km. We chose the long one because here around every bend there’s a new painting It’s not a difficult hike just a few steps, accessible to all. [Musique] And everywhere, these warm shades give the impression of walking through an artist’s palette [Musique] At the end of the day we return to our haven of peace in Tarascon [Musique] Second day and a complete change of scenery We are literally immersed in the magical world of the Carrières de Lumières in Baux de Provence [Rires] Imagine an old stone quarry gigantic silent plunged into darkness Then suddenly, the walls light up Paintings by Monet or Le Douanier Rousseau come to life all around you [Musique] Colors dance, the works move, classical or electronic music resonates it’s breathtaking. [Rires] [Musique] We walk with our heads raised our eyes wide open It’s an immersive spectacle that transports you to another world. And it’s cool, so don’t forget a light jacket After this poetic interlude, it’s time for a well-deserved break we have a leisurely lunch there before setting off again to explore Right next door the hilltop village of Les Baux de Provence beckons [Musique] Cobblestone streets blond stone houses small craft shops Here, every corner seems straight out of a movie. We climb gently towards the summit and from there a breathtaking view of the entire Alpilles valley awaits. Don’t miss the Château des Baux perched on the cliff where you can see reconstructions of medieval war machines [Musique] Imagine yourself in the time of the knights the wind in your hair, with Provence as far as the eye can see. And after this day full of discoveries, we hit the road again towards our little corner of paradise [Applaudissements] And there, the icing on the cake a well-deserved dip in the pool The water is warm the music is playing we laugh we let loose… [Musique] Third day in Provence and this morning the typical southern atmosphere welcomes us to Fontvieille The small Provençal market spreads peacefully across the square There are colorful stalls the scents of spices, lavender, olives, and cheeses The sun gently pierces through the plane trees people chat laugh It feels good as if time has slowed down. After strolling among the stalls we head for a slightly more athletic activity the Vélorail des Alpilles We first have to cross the village on foot to reach the old Fontvieille train station a truly postcard-perfect setting. [Musique] Then we’re off we climb aboard the vélorail a strange pedal-powered contraption mounted on rails We cycle through scrubland and fields surrounded by cicadas olive trees and vineyards [Musique] The wind in our hair laughter ringing out at every turn it’s a unique and fun way to discover the Provençal countryside and to reach a majestic place Montmajour Abbey perched in the distance [Musique] A breath of fresh air between nature and heritage. [Musique] After the effort comes the reward We return to the village for lunch in a simple but delicious little restaurant where everything is homemade using local produce. Generous flavors a warm welcome in short we had a wonderful time. Then the afternoon continues under the sun with a stroll through the heart of Alphonse Daudet’s mills Through paths lined with olive trees we gently climb towards the famous writer’s iconic mill But it’s not the only four mills stand here frozen in time as if suspended above the scrubland We imagine Daudet sitting in the shade notebook in hand inspired by these light-filled landscapes [Musique] And at the end of the path the Château de Montauban where he would spend his family vacations The place is peaceful steeped in history and well worth the detour A true immersion in authentic literary Provence. Then a little further on we discover a surprising site the ruins of the Roman aqueduct of Barbegal A masterpiece of ancient ingenuity nestled in nature a vestige of a fascinating Roman past It’s best to avoid going there during the hottest hours of the day as the site is quite exposed But late afternoon is a moment suspended in time. We end this beautiful day by strolling a little further through the narrow streets of Fontvieille It’s a village on a human scale still preserved still authentic The kind of place where you say to yourself I could stay here A very full day between heritage nature good humor and wonderful memories [Musique] Last day but not least This morning we’re literally immersed in history in the heart of the ancient site of Glanum Nestled at the foot of the Alpilles this archaeological site transports us to the time of the Romans and the Celto-Ligurians. [Musique] Temples thermal baths forum We walk in the footsteps of ancient civilizations between broken columns and grandiose ruins. The atmosphere is peaceful almost timeless with cicadas in the background and the sun playing on the golden stones. [Musique] Then, we head to the historic center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for lunch on a terrace in a charming alleyway. [Musique] The colorful shutters the ancient cobblestones the shaded squares everything here exudes the sweetness of life. [Musique] After lunch we let ourselves be carried away through the village streets Saint-Rémy is the very essence of Provence vibrant artistic authentic There you’ll find art galleries artisans the scent of soap and lilting accents And to end this adventure a stop that deeply touches us The former monastery of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole now a nursing home This is where Vincent Van Gogh was interned for a year in 1889.
