Where NOT To Stay: Vertigo Hotel—Dijon, France

Of [Music] course, it doesn’t even close. Hey, we’re in Don. They saw you struggling with the door. Okay, well, add that to the list. Best. But the only cool thing so far about this hotel is they left us some Djon mustard on our bed for Djon. Uh, so that’s cool. But so far, everything has been terrible about this hotel. No upgrades available, which whatever. That’s fine, understandable. But the parking situation, you can only park on the level that they give you, which is level two for us. And then it is the tightest spots you have ever seen in your life. And then we got to the room and I walk in and I’m like, “Oh, we’re good. We’re in the closet. Cool.” Oh, this is the room. Oh gosh. Okay. So, I know I sound really whiny right now and sorry about that, but I want to give you an honest review. And honestly, this room kind of blows. So, you walk right into the bathroom and we’ve got just a conditioner and shampoo. It’s probably pretty good. So, the brand that they use is Nux Nux Paris. I don’t know. It’s got honey in it, so it has kind of that like stain on it, but whatever. Uh, shower cap you get. And what is this vanity set? So, and then a soap. A soap. One soap. What’s in here? All right. Shower. Okay. So, I don’t know. I almost say shower. Rainfall. And then you got a handheld. And then you got one shower gel. And then, wow. A lot of space. Lot of space for the toilet. I don’t know. You could they could have shortened this a little and made the room a little bigger. Again, I know I sound really whiny, but when you’re paying for a fourstar or paying any amount of money, you expect a certain product. So, it’s $250 a night. Yeah. And that doesn’t include parking. Parking is $20. Okay. Swing around to the mini bar. Here you’ve got all of your non-included items. So to pay to live, why is the bed swooped up like this? You see that? Look at that. It’s at a complete goes like this. The bed. That’s so funny. Kind of. I mean, not really. They have a really cool TV thing though. Oh, and it doubles as a mirror. Okay, that’s neat. I like that. See how that is? Oh my go. Oh, it’s harder than a rock. Actually, I like that though. Oh, I thought that was a TV up there on the pictures that I saw, but it is a picture, I believe. Huh. Let’s see. Gloves are good. Looks like you have Oh, breakfast menu. Okay. So, breakfast is from 7:00 to 11:00. We ordered uh the buffet breakfast. Okay. Does that come with with our room? We had to pay extra for that as well. How much was that? Uh it was included in the rate. I forget. I think it was but it was €250 total included. 250 euro, not dollars. Oo, James. Okay. And then here we have one water. You must not drink a lot of water here. That’s kind of I think they just drink wine. Yeah, that’s true. So then you’ve got your tuner for the TV down here for show you the fridge. And then you’ve got all your That’s our sandwich and chips from our road trip. It’s 4 hours away from our house. So that’s pretty cool. Yeah. So they’ve got sodas, wine, champagne, hard alcohol, some juices. Uh and then you’ve got a little desk here. phone light and then this you can actually go out it looks like. So that’s neat. We could have our coffee out on the balcony. That’s what you’re planning for. Yeah, you’re paying for convenience of the location. This is central central don which it it helps to be it helps to be down in the central location so you can walk everywhere. So we parked the car. We’re not going to move it until Sunday. So, there’s only chargers on one side of the bed, just so you know. And type C. There’s uh the old kind and the new kind. Okay. And then this light. Jeez. Sorry. All right. Uh we’re going to go to dinner and then we will show you on the hotel grounds. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow. See you there. Apple a day keeps the doctor away. It’s funny that that’s in English. What you got? Oh, I found uh I found what I can eat. eat the mustard with. It’s a big bite. Mhm. Is it good? Oh, it feels good. Highly recommend. What’s this brand? Is it actually good? Mhm. All right. Well, so apparently there’s a closet right here that I missed. So, you’ve got three hangers. Couple hanger or six hangers actually. Uh what’s in here? I don’t know. Just a bag. Just a bag. But you’ve got a safe, a drawer with a shoe laundry bag in it. And then a shoe rack down there, two robes, some slippers, and some shoe shine sponge. So, that’s nice. Here’s something I just learned in my 37 years of existence at a hotel. The air conditioning wasn’t working. It’s It’s like 95. So, it’s a heat wave rolling through Europe right now. And I called the reception and they said, “Oh, hold on one second. They have to control it from the front desk.” They turned it on. Now it’s working. See in the back that green light? Yeah. It wasn’t there before. It was completely off. So, they turned it on. So, if it’s ever not working and you’re in Europe, call the front desk. Maybe they’ll be able to turn it on for you. That’s nuts. All right. Well, we’ll see you guys in the morning. We’re going to go to bed now. Get some shut eyee. Wait, but say the city is beautiful. So Tay wants to say but say. But say. Yeah. Say that the city’s beautiful. We just walked around. We went to Care for little market grocery store. It’s all over this area. And we walked through kind of the central location by the central market. And people are sitting out eating dinner. It’s so busy in a good way. Like there’s people and it’s lively and it’s very nice. It’s not packed. You’re not stressed. Yeah, it’s You got to come to Dejon. Don is way better than Paris so far. Might be. Yep. We’ll give you our thoughts at the end. You know, we got to spend a couple days here and we’ll see. It’s only 4 hours from our house, though, which is it’s crazy. 3 hours and 53 minutes. Oh, yeah. Are you okay? Awesome. So, all right, we’re going to go to bed. We’ll catch you guys at breakfast in the morning, show you uh everything that’s on offer and see if we may hate a good deal or a bad deal when it came to adding the breakfast on. Normally, you’d think being a Bond boy or Marriott Platinite, we get free breakfast, but apparently I’m here. So, anyway, first world problems. Yep. Good night. See you in the morning. Oh, good morning. So, we were just walking out the door. Had to stop back in the room and grab something, but we’re headed to breakfast. We’re going to go and see what they have on Alpha. Huh. of all time. This is the lobby. Behold. Behold lobby. It’s kind of small. Very quaint. Intimate. Hello. Do we go in or what? Oh, the breakfast’s place. That was weird. Oh, did he acknowledge us or no? Your typical fudge. Yeah. Some cheeses and fruits and Oh, they have salmon. And then they’ve got all the goodies. Cool. Over there. Oh, okay. They have all the hotes over here in a DJ booth if you want to DJ. Cool. Under What’s under door number one? Ooh, jamal. And door number two. O, eggs and ham. The ham is like beef jerky. I love beef jerky. Not [Music] some really good looking homemade breads up there. Like banana bread, pumpkin bread. It’s Prince. They got some good looking cheeses. Wow. Eggs are really good though. Oh, that’s good. I’m going to get a cross. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. I stick to the pastries. This is cool. There’s a little What is it called? Feel good. I feel good spot. This is Oh, feel good. Oh, that’s the entrance to the spa. It’s kind of a funny place to put it. So, this looks like a feel good spa. I like the comfortable lounge area. That’s kind of cool. Yeah, it is. Look at this couch. Very relaxing. It looks like some giant lips. Oh gosh. Ooh, candles on the ground to the spa. This is the sauna. Oh, there’s stars on the sky. Oh, man. Wow. This is really cool. I feel like I’m in the space station. It’s very cool looking though. Ooh, yes. They have a uh steam room. They do. Steam rooms are my favorite. Doesn’t look like it’s on right now. Then they have a sauna. Very cool. That is cigar bar. It’s like a secret trap door to get in. You need to come up from the bar up the windy stairs. [Music] There’s a cigar bar. Wow. So smoky. All right, there’s the Here’s the fitness. Gosh, I’m so tired. You think I need a key? Well, this gym we it doesn’t even have lights, so it’s very odd. It’s like this crammed little room. There’s three pieces of equipment and then this thing, which is actually kind of cool, but there’s like only one person can use it. You really got to tie it, right? There can’t be any more than two people in this gym. Like, it’s so tiny. So, yeah. All right, guys. As promised, I’m going to do a wrap-up of the hotel. So, we are back home and we’ve had time to reflect and decide if we would go back to that hotel. Short answer, never. But, it helped us realize a few things that are very, very important to us when we go on vacation or whenever we go to a new city. We absolutely want to be in the city center. and that hotel provided that for us. So that was a huge plus. The cost was very expensive and you didn’t get a whole lot with that. So you ended up having to pay for breakfast. So the total cost was with breakfast included. Uh however, we would have not done the breakfast again. Uh we decided that unless we know they’re known for their breakfast, we’re going to skip that extra extra cost. The hotel staff was okay. Not super friendly and warm. So, that was a little bit of a negative. Uh, the room size very small. The glasses in the room also and and kind of just around the room were a little dusty and dirty, I would say. Uh, there just wasn’t a lot of attention to detail. Uh, for it being the price that it was, you expect cleanliness and attention to detail. You know, I would give it a solid maybe 6.2 out of 10 if you love that kind of look and feel. and location and the price is good for you, then you should absolutely stay there.
