AVOID CROWDS in SANTORINI – Criuise stop tips!
hey travel friends today on Doodle the travel bug we are cruising and we have a stop in the very beautiful but very crowded santarini and we’re giving you our top three tips to help navigate the large crowds Santorini is a Greek Island located in the aan sea known for its rugged landscape and breathtaking views it’s no wonder tourists can’t help but to flock here number three number three if here on a cruise book an Excursion through the cruise ship now we’re not usually ones for organized fun but in this case there are so many advantages first off Santorini is a tendered Port meaning cruise ships anchor off Island and move people over by small tender boats the unloading process can be long and tedious however guests with morning Cruise excursions get first priority off the ship and will be motored over to a different port where they can hop on their tour buses all other Cruisers get tendered to Old Harbor the bottom of a steep volcanic Cliff where you got three options you can walk over 600 steps straight up or you can take a terrifyingly steep donkey ride and smell like such at the end or you can wait in the impossibly long line to the cable car the cable car takes you to the top of the cliff to the town of fura and while the Cruisers are dealing with tendering and Hiking up Cliffs you are already well into your day crowd free for now and remember what goes up must come down if you are not on a cruise Excursion you are responsible for getting yourself back and more importantly getting yourself back down on time which can be very difficult the line for the cable car wraps around the town of fera cruise ships will only wait for guests that are booked on their excursions they will not wait for you but FYI the steps are a bit easier going down just watch out for some donkey droppings bottom line is an Excursion can take the stress off when it’s packed public transportation and traffic can be a mess so put in the hands of carefully selected and trusted tour operators Dumbo now the foodie and me usually hunts down the place where the locals go but here I recommend making a lunch or dinner reservation for one of the Island’s Greek parties we went to Demetrius restaurant this is a more the merrier environment it’s vibrant energetic and filled with music dancing and a traditional Greek Feast now these parties are usually buffet or family Styles so your family can sample all the traditional Greek food now in this experience the large crowd really added to the Joy it made us feel like we were guests at a Greek Wedding we learned traditional Greek dances and participated in plate smashing a fun Greek custom that symbolizes letting go in celebration number one and our top spot had to go to Instagram versus reality when people mention Santorini it’s usually images of whitewashed Cliff hugging buildings with blue roofs that come to mind and that’s why the streets of EA are packed with tourists all standing on cliffs trying to snap the same photo all the while fighting bratty inst grammar who take up entire walkways just to portray that they’re wandering the streets of paradise alone so choose a different way to explore Santorini say adio to the busloads of tourists in EA you can try chartering a boat and get the same spectacular views from a different vantage point with freedom from the crowds or step back into an ancient world and visit the ruins of actii it’s one of the best preserved ancient settlements in the world buried by a volcanic eruption around 1600 BC and where are all the Instagram models could it be that culture and history are not important to them another option spend some time at a winery drink the grapes grown from volcanic soil the kids had juice and snacks as we sampled the wines of Santorini and if this gets a bit overly crowded well the wine helps now whatever you end up doing just remember you are lucky to be here so plan ahead get back in time to catch your ride and enjoy this magical place for more Unique Travel shows like And subscribe to see where do the buug goes next

We are Cruising Greese and have a stop at the beautiful but very crowded cruise port of Santorini! Santorini is a rugged vocanic island in the Aegean Sea. Santorini is the most popular of all the greek islands mostly for its postcard perfect town of Oia! Oia is the famous town of cliff hugging white washed buildings with blue rooftops. Oia is also a popular spot for cruise ships. And we two are guilty of this as we are traveling on Royal Carribean’s Adventure of the Seas. Cruise ships come in and dump thosands of people on this tiny island. So we are giving you our top 3 ways to avoid the crowds in Santorini.
3. First on the list is make sure to book an excursion throught the cruise ship you are traveling on. Santorini is a tendered island, meaning that cruise ships have to anchor off shore and then tender their guests to port. This can be a long and tedious process. Guests that have excursions booked through the cruise have first priority off the ship. The first tender boats take the excursion guests to al less used port so they can hop on their tour busses. The rest of the cruise ship guests are tendered to Old Harbor. Old Fira Harbor is at the bottom of a cliff. From here cruisers need to pick a way up 600 plus stairs up, a steep donkey ride to the top or wait in the imposible long ride to the cable car. And all the while the excursion guests have had a morinig without the crowds.
2. Next on the list does not avoid the crowds but embrasses them. Book a greek party lunch or dinner. Their are a few of these on the island we choose Demitri restaurant. A restaurant that serves buffet style traditional greek food and has Greek music. Guest are taught traditional Greek dances and everyone joins in. And at the very end, we got to participate in plate smashing. Plate smashing is a Greek custom that signifies joy and celebration.
1. Instagram VS Reality. If you can’t hit the Instagram perfect town of Oia early then that perfect Instagram town becomes not so perfect. Oia becomes grossly over crowded. Santorini needs to work on limiting cruise ships but until then, book something else. Charter a boat and view the breathtaking views from a different vantage point. Visit the ancient town of Akrotiri Ruins. History and culture dosent bring in all the Instagram models plus its pretty incredible. Think Pompeii but older. You can also spend your day at a winery and taste the grapes grown in volcanic soil.

Love Santorini ❤
More video of the IG models please. (Less of Jim.)
what cruise line stopped and what were some other ports of call?
Nice video!
My old roommate was just here. He visited and gave me a painting on those blue domes. You guys are pros at international travel. Good tip on avoiding the crowd. What happens if they leave without you. That Greek restaurant seems so fun. The wine place sounds good to me.
With those views I can see why it’s crowded 😎
I always wondered what the Greek town was with the white buildings and blue roofs. Now I know! These were all great tips. I’m not going to lie, though. Walking up the stairs or taking the gondolas looks like fun, but those crowds!!!
I loved your video !! Thank you
When did you go to the restaurant? Was that during the excursion's free time or after the excursion?
Beautiful roleplay by childrenos.
