THE ULTIMATE HAMBURG GUIDE! Things to do, Where to Stay, Shopping and ride!
In this video, we’ll show you everything you can’t miss in Hamburg, a city full of history, culture, canals, and one of the most important ports in the world. We’ll cover the best tours, how much each one costs, where to stay, where to eat, how to get around, the best time to visit, practical tips, day trips, and everything to help you plan the perfect trip. Let’s go. Hamburg is in northern Germany and is the country’s second largest city. It has a unique vibe with many canals, bridges, modern architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene. The best way to get there is via Hamburg International Airport, which receives flights from all over the world. If you’re already in Europe, you can also go by train, bus, or rental car, as the roads are excellent. And here’s a great tip. Rent a car when you arrive, especially if you plan to explore nearby cities. A great tip is to pick up your car directly at Hamburg airport, the city’s main airport. That way, you avoid spending on taxis or transfers to your hotel. It also saves time since you won’t have to go to a rental agency later. And remember, booking in advance online is always much cheaper, and guarantees your vehicle. The best time to visit Hamburg is from May to September when the days are longer, the weather is mild, and the city comes alive with outdoor activities and events. During this period, average temperatures are around 25° C with sunny days perfect for walking and exploring. Winter can be very cold and the days are shorter, but the city becomes super charming with its traditional Christmas markets. To enjoy it well, plan to stay at least three full days in Hamburg. That way you’ll have time to visit the main sites and even include a day trip. The best area to stay in Hamburgg is the city center, especially the Alchot and Neistat neighborhoods close to the Ben & Olter lake and main attractions. It’s a beautiful, safe area full of shops, restaurants, and great public transport. And best of all, you can do almost everything on foot. We created a custom map that shows exactly the best area to stay in Hamburg. In the video description and the QR code on the screen, we’ll leave the link to the page with this map and also the hotels we’ve stayed at, which were excellent, including one that was cheap, well located, and very good. Staying in this central area lets you walk to the most famous sites. From Benolster Lake to City Hall takes less than 5 minutes. Spikerot is just a 10-minute walk and to the port around 15 minutes. There’s a lot to do on foot. Walk along the lake, visit Hamburg’s beautiful city hall, go shopping on Merberg Strasa, explore the historic Spikerstat warehouse district, and enjoy happy hour by the El River. It’s a great city for walking. And if you’re new to our channel, welcome. Our mission is to help you travel more and better around the world. If you’re enjoying this video, subscribe to the channel and like it. It helps us a lot. One unmissable attraction is the Spikerat neighborhood, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s the world’s largest warehouse complex with stunning canals and impressive architecture. Walking there is free and perfect for photos. Inside you’ll find the famous Miniature Wonderland, the largest miniature museum in the world. Absolutely worth it. Entry costs around $10. Another great attraction is the boat tour through Hamburg’s port. It departs from London’s bbrooken and costs about $20. The tour lasts around 1 hour and offers beautiful views of the city, especially at sunset. The Elville Armony is another must-see. This modern iconic concert hall has a free observation deck with one of the best views in the city. Also visit Olster Lake where you can rent pedal boats, have picnics, or just walk around. If you want to explore the alternative side of the city, head to St. Paulie and the famous Reaper Bond, full of bars, restaurants, and nightlife. And if you’re visiting in winter, check out Hamburg’s charming Christmas markets. We always recommend booking your tickets online in advance, as many attractions sell out and it’s cheaper online. But don’t worry, in the video description and on the screen’s QR code, we’ll leave the link to the site we always use to book tickets and tours at the lowest prices. It’s the world’s largest tour site and has almost everything. Attraction tickets, tours, and day trips to nearby cities and places worth visiting, all at the best prices. Another top spot is Olter House, a complete and elegant department store. And if you want to save money, take advantage of the tax-free system, which refunds part of your spending as a tourist. Just ask for the form, keep the receipts, and show them at the airport when you leave. Another essential item for any international trip is travel insurance. It’s affordable and covers any health or baggage issues you might face. A medical consultation abroad can be super expensive and many tourists ruin their trip by not having one. And for Europe, it’s mandatory. We’ll leave a price comparison tool in the description that checks prices from all the top insurance companies. You’ll find the cheapest deals, usually half the price of buying direct. It’s much cheaper. Another mustave is a travel SIM card. To use mobile internet on your trip, you’ll need one. To avoid wasting time looking for a local store and a phone plan, the best way is to buy it online in advance. We’ll leave the link to the chip we always use. You receive an email and install it digitally. No need for a physical chip at home. Germany’s official currency is the euro, and you can use your card almost everywhere, but a great way to save money is with a global account. We’ll leave the link to the one we use, which is free and helps a lot on any trip. If you have more time in Hamburg, it’s definitely worth doing a day trip to Lubec, just 1 hour away and a beautiful medieval city with tons of history and a wellpreserved old town.
