Peillon, France: a historic gem in the Riviera
in dejon France. Today I’m in this town called Pon in the south of France, just north of Nice. And I’m having so much fun here. I’m with my best friend from the Putney School and his beautiful, intelligent, marvelous girlfriend and this uh sexy dog. Anyway, behind me there’s a school and we just learned a little fact that I thought was just so fun that I wanted to share with you guys. Um, this school was for many years where all the children came. They had to carry a log up. Now, we are, just for context, this is the church over here and we’re at the top of the village. And I just found it so entertaining and so fun that they would make the kids carry a log uphill to the school where they would all be kind of like, you know, cordoned off at the top of the village leage. And um you know it makes me think sometimes the old ways were the good ways especially in America we’re so obsessed with innovation and trends and what’s new. I am probably guilty of that myself. But coming to a place like this where they’ve literally carved like stone steps right here out of the hillside, it’s quite amazing and it makes me think that um just having some reverence for the old ways being the good ways is sometimes a a nice a nice way to go. Okay.
I was enthralled by this small town of Peillon. Here’s a fun story about how they used to educate and keep their kids warm.
And yeah, my French is not good. Working on it!
