Day two in Dresden. July 10th. A birthday. Happy birthday to me. One year older. Hope one year wiser. Definitely not shorts weather. Everyone looks at me funny. I’m walking around with shorts. But I came from Prague where it was 40 Celsius. Here it must be 17 or so. And time to get breakfast. Time to get breakfast. Let’s see where I’m going to go. Starbucks. McDonald’s. Couple other cafe places like that over there. Oh, there should be some place here for breakfast. There goes. And also, I want a sandwich. Uh, I’ll go with a [Music] Is that a Caprici sandwich? Yeah, I’ll take one of those. Yeah, that one or the right one? Uh, the one in the back here? Yeah, that’s fine. Yeah, perfect. Thank you. That’s good. That’s good. Thank you. All right, I settled on a caprici sandwich at an Americano coffee here. This great little cafe just outside my hotel. A nice view of one of the old churches. All right, this this church is open. Let’s go take a look. A little tour after my coffee. Hi, how are you? Well, they got some history from World War II here. So, so this church wasn’t completely leveled. Was badly burned, but it wasn’t leveled. Oh, Cool summer day in old Dresden. Those birds are magpies. I’ve seen them before. That’s very No tourists here at all. Like they’re geared up for tourists, but there’s no tourists. All these cafes Steak Royale. All right, out of the cafe district. I’m trying to find this restaurant that I’m eating at tonight for my birthday. It’s called the Ontario Canadian Steakhouse. Oh, but first I’m going to see if I can get to that church. That looks like a very interesting church. Beautiful day in old Dresden. What a beautiful city. And there’s where have I’m having my birthday dinner tonight. the intero steakhouse. And the interial restaurant cafe right there, too. Obviously, obviously owned by a Canadian, I’m going to assume. Now, let’s go inside this church. Authentic church. 11:00 all the church girls. [Music] It’s going to look like It’s a nice little restaurant. Just stopped in here for a cappuccino. I got dono. It’s my birthday day. Got a boat ride at 1:00. So, just get a little bit of time. What a view. Wow. Do you want to say anything to the camera? Hi. Hi. Welcome to Germany. And right there I got a dun and uh cappuccino. I guess that’s what you call German brunch. Beautiful day. My birthday day on route to the on route to the boat ride on the Alb River. Alba River. Be there in about 7 minutes. All right. Well, one of these boats is going to be my tour boat. Just got to find out which one. Uh, see which one the captain’s hanging out. That’s probably going to be it. Beautiful day. I’m on the river. Weather just came out. Beautiful. Well, if in doubt, follow the crowd. Crowd lined up for this boat right here. Lipick. I’m going assume that’s my boat. Hopefully I can get a beer on it because it is my birthday. kind of power. All is the Albert Ftock House, but initially served Algre and his wife as a temporary until the neighboring Algra Palace was completed. The estate received its name, which is still used today, from entrepreneur Khal August Linga, who achieved great popularity and an even greater fortune with a production of mouthwash. Okay, on board the boat. Let’s go up to the uh Bardock. Get us get myself a bruski. Pretty nice up here. It’s nice to be outside though. That’s for all people. Okay, I’m at the back of the boat. Big old German flag van. Yep, there I am. Going to have a dunk and a filtered coffee here shortly. stands by a kind stockous. but initially served Algre and his wife as a temporary until the neighboring Algre Palace was completed. That’s a pretty little town right there. Now we’re doing the turn around cuz see the other side of the river. Our hour and a half tour. Very well worth it. Even got good beer on the and good coffee too on the boat. Nice job. Heat. Heat. coffee. All right, that’s that tour. Well, worth it. Very good tour. 1 hour and a half. 3:00. [Music] [Music] Okay, time to go for the uh my birthday dinner at the Ontario Canadian Steakhouse. Let’s go check it out. Okay, and here’s my restaurant right here, Ontario Steakhouse. I got a reservation. Let’s go check it out. my birthday. Just got to wait for my table and uh the restaurant’s open yet again. So, I’m about 10 15 minutes early. These damn bells, I tell you. Trying to read the menu. I’m going to get the ribeye steak with mushrooms cooked medium well. They got a rump steak there. Tenderloin dried age porter house. Where’s my starters? Can I smoke soft bread? Never heard of that before. Soup. [Music] Caesar salad. Good start. ribeye mushrooms and peppercorn sauce coffee and what they call the dresden oyster shaker dessert. Just finished my dinner. This little festival is going on now. Dancing bear or something. Not quite sure what that’s supposed to be. He’s the only guy that brother [Music] [Music] music. Music music [Applause] [Music] shopping in Dresden, Germany. Teddy bear looks like uh some sort of schnups. the usual t-shirts, hats, magnets, which I have on here for my collection, baseball hats, keychains, which I’m going to pick one up for my dentist. He’s always Dr. Bell always asks me for a keychain for my travels. I need a coffee mug for my buddy Steve for his growing collection. [Music] Um, shot glass from my buddy Gerald. I get him a shot glass everywhere I go. Those other coffee mugs. Love Justin. All right. Another store is right here. All right. That’s about it. All the usual stuff, I think. Oh, yeah. I’m within 5 minutes of the train station. Wow. One of my last looks around at Dresden here. Very nice city. Very friendly. English spoken everywhere. Lots of uh English language signage. Clean. Pretty clean. Seems relatively safe, too. There I have found it. Thank you, Google Maps. The train station. Now go check out my train to Prague. Train to Prague. Here we go. [Music] Heat. Heat.
