24 Hours on a Turkish Bus 🇹🇷 | Bodrum to Trabzon Overland Journey

Okay, so our ferry was 45 minutes late. Um,
and we had two hours to spare to get to the main terminal. We were lucky. We were the first
people off of the ferry and we were able to come out and there was taxis there because no
one from the ferry had come out yet. So, um we’re paying €10, uh to get the taxi to Tobra
bus station and then we’re taking an overnight bus um to Trabzone and it’s 25 hours. Um so, we
are on our way to Batum in Georgia. So, yeah, we’ll take you along. It’s going to be fun.
We haven’t done it this way before really. So, we’ve done long coach rides, but not a ride
this long. Well, the longest one I think we ever did was in Mexico. We went from Merida to
S Crystalall. There were many available, but we were the first off the ferry. So, if you get off
in a large group, you may have a hard time finding one. And the ride took about 10 to 15 minutes to
get to the actual bus terminal itself. There are multiple bus stations, so do be aware of that.
This one is more for longer type of trips. Um, there is one closer in the center town of Bodrum,
but more for local buses. There was a store right near here where we were able to pick up some
drinks and snacks from the bus and they were very helpful. So, we made it. Made it. Yeah. Here
we are. Beautiful, beautiful bus station. Top of the bus station. Really nice. And we’re on the
bus. Nice and easy to come out. No cues. We’ll show you. Bring some wipes. Yeah, we just wiped
down our whole space. So, they have screens. We’re in seat three and two. So you have screens, lots
of leg room, arm room, extra arm room. There’s a plug here. Plug here. And there’s USB there as
well. USB. Yeah. And a great view. Perfect view. So it begins. And so it begins. 25 hours
on this one. On this one. And then 3 hours on the next one. Yep. And then
a taxi. Yep. And then another pickup. We were pleasantly surprised to find out
that there was drinks and a little snack cart that went by. Uh we did have this twice
on our way from Bodum into the overnight, but it did cease the next day when there
were multiple stops in many different local Turkish communities. We did have
many stops. This was not a direct bus. So, we’ve just stopped over. It’s now uh 8:15.
We’re here for 30 minutes. So, there’s some food and lot some shopping. And we are about what
6 hours into the ride. Left at 2. So, yeah, 6 and 1/2 hours into the ride. So, we’re
getting there. They go bunch of it. Yeah. Lots of cute stuff. Yeah. Do some shopping. We got food at the back there
as well. And there’s some food out the front. Bathrooms and things. Good. There you go. They were very nice. Yeah. Yeah.
It’s so funny. He said to me five and I went to give him 10 litter cuz I thought he meant five for
each. I said that’s very cheap. And he said no, five. I said in total 50. And then he
was like 50. I said okay. 50. Okay. So 25 L each. Yeah. That’s perfect. Very nice. Do
keep in mind there was no toilet on the bus, but we did stop quite frequently. We were really
impressed with the roads throughout the country. We are planning a road trip and this was
a nice way for us to see the quality of the roads. Keep an eye out for that journey
which we’ll be sharing with you in a couple. Oh, thank you. Thank you so
much. Oh, we got our men. Another thing to keep in mind is that the flights
within Turkey are quite affordable themselves, but you do have the extra expense of getting
to and from the airport each time, which may be inconvenient. So, this is a nice alternative.
Um, it was a comfortable journey. However, it was quite long, but we were prepared for that. So,
this is where we ended that leg of the journey. You have easy access into Trabzone, the city
itself, to the airport. You can also go to Ryz and some other really beautiful areas like Uzing,
which we’ve explored in the past. Um, and then we continued our journey on a second smaller bus uh,
which was another 3 hours. But first, oh, we were hungry and tired. It is time to eat. Oh, we have
ah, he wants to say hello. Hello. Hello. And we’re going to get this uh hamburger and cola, which Jen
is waiting very patiently for. Very tired. Yes, we did have to pay cash for this meal, but there
was an ATM uh cash machine in the actual terminal itself, so that wasn’t a problem. And the burger
was absolutely delicious. We recommend a quick stop here. This is the second short bus we
took. You can find links in our description to the ticket. Okay, so we’re on the next bus to
head to the Sart border. We had booked tickets to go to Hapa, but I went to the counter and
paid 100 uh Turkish LRA extra for the two of us to go all the way to the Sart border. So, some
interesting things that happened on the long coach um prior. One thing that was sad and
strange was there was a rooster in a box and they put it underneath the
bus and it was there overnight which Um, but in the morning whenever they opened the
hatch at like 9:00 a.m. to get someone’s suitcase out, we could hear the rooster cockadoodle
cockadoodle doodling. So that was kind of upsetting but also humorous sort of at the same
time. And um, what was the other thing? Oh yeah, the guy was smoking the driver when the driver
was one of the drivers was smoking on the bus. So that was kind of um, different. Um, but there was
something else. I can’t remember now, but we’re so tired. It’s been such a long journey, but um,
definitely affordable and worth it. And we saw a lot of beautiful areas um, throughout the country.
So, taking the bus is really nice because you can see all the different terrains. We went literally
from the Mediterranean waters of Bodum to then Trabzone side, which is the Black Sea. So, we went
literally from one side of Turkey to the other. We saw both major waters in the same day. And if
you do do it, make sure you bring cash for the bathroom. Oh, yes. That’s the other thing. So, all
of the toilets range in price from 5 to 10 L per person. So, make sure you have the cash available
for that kind of thing. Most of the places had toilet paper, but you may want to bring some
just in case cuz you you never know. Come again. So now just leaving Turkey. um at the start of
border crossing and we’re on our way to Georgia to Yeah. And I can barely think straight, but we made
it and we’re excited and uh yeah, on to pastures new in Georgia. That’s right. So, um we hope
you enjoyed today’s video. If you’re thinking of doing the same, we hope that you got some helpful
tips and yep, see you soon. But not soon enough.
