Hi, welcome to my channel. Today I am in Pula, Croatia. It is the largest city in Istria. With about 52,000 inhabitants A city with an incredible history. With beautiful architecture. Watch the video to the end. If you like the video, please like and subscribe. Enjoy This is a pedestrian street that leads to the Pula market. Some of the prices here at the market. Sandwiches from 2 – 4 euros Those are some prices. This is the Pula market. In front is a square, the name of which I do not know. Who knows, let him write in the comment. There are restaurants around, you can eat and drink there. These are the Double Gate. Built in the 2nd century. Behind the gate is Zero Strasse. These are underground tunnels that lead to Pula Kastel. It’s early morning and it’s not open. It was around 7:30 a.m. and there was no crowd yet. It’s time to drink coffee. But we will postpone, because the plan is to drink coffee near the Pula Arena. This is the triumphal arch of the Sergians. It is an ancient Roman triumphal arch from the 1st century. When you pass through the triumphal arch, the pedestrian street begins there. Now I’m going on a walking tour along this pedestrian street. This is the old part of Pula. Written by: Irish poet James Joyce. I’m not a person who likes to read books, so I don’t know who the gentleman is. It is morning and there is no crowd. I can imagine that the coffee shop will be crowded later, especially in the evening. For me, the morning is the most beautiful part of the day. The lady who passes, says that she agrees with me. It’s my first time here, so I’m enjoying it. Nice architecture. These stairs lead to the Pula Castle. I will go to the castle a little later. This is the park of the city of Graz. That’s how it looks in google maps, correct me if I’m wrong. This is a Roman mosaic. The level of the mazaik is about 2 meters lower than the current level. Now I’m going to Pula Castle. I can’t believe I’ll open it, but I’ll take a picture from the outside. It says: monastery of St. Francis. Monastery of St. Francis under reconstruction. Made in 1227. There are also parts of Roman columns here. I love it when I’m somewhere for the first time, and I did very little information on the Internet. I didn’t know about this monastery, it was on my way. I like to be spontaneous. But I also have to find out about a city when I come. Not to miss something important. I’m going left here. So here on the right. Up the stairs. Cross the street, then up the stairs again. This is the Pula castle. Served for the defense of the city. See how many cannons there are. Now I wonder if there was water in between. Or is this just how the trench was dug. Historical Maritime Museum of Istria. Open from 9 a.m. View of Pula Harbor. I’m going along the path around the castle. This is a small Roman amphitheatre, built in the 2nd century. I assume that there will be various cultural events here. There are a lot of these historical buildings in Pula. I go back to the pedestrian street, then to the Forum square. Here I am back in the pedestrian street and now I am going to the Forum square. This is Forum square, the most beautiful square in the city. Nice It’s nice to sit here and have a drink or a meal. This is the temple of Augustine, or the temple of Rome and Augustus. Built during the reign of Emperor Augustus in the 1st century. Prices on Forum square. Soups 8 euros. Fish broth 10 euros. Spaghetti 15 euros. Octopus in malvasia 16.5 euros Adriatic shells 19.5 euros There are various dishes. Ćevapi with bun and onion 13.5 euros Stuffed burger 16.5 euros Steak 30 euros Lamb or veal 25 euros. Grilled chicken 17.5 euros Sea bream or sea bass 19.5 euros Squid 23 euros Burger 18 euros These are some of the prices. How big are these stones, maybe they are from the Roman era. What a beautiful little street. It is very clean, the cleaners do a good job. Very clean. I arrive at the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. built in the 6th century. It is written somewhere in the 5th century, even though construction began at the end of the 4th century. Whoever knows the history of Pula, should write when it was built. A beautiful cathedral. You can sit here and enjoy. And for the end, I left the biggest landmark of Pula. It’s the Pula Arena. I’m going there. I’ll have a coffee there. I’m going to enjoy myself. There is a big chimney. there was probably a factory there. It was a factory, now it’s a restaurant. The Pula Arena can be seen in the distance. The Pula Arena was built in the 1st century. And the sixth largest Roman amphitheater in the world. Magnificent building. I was in Rome, and the Roman arena is bigger and more beautiful, but this one is also beautiful. Entrance is paid, adults 20 euros. Open from 08:00 to 23:00 I won’t go inside. I’ll shoot you around. Now I’m going to the left of the entrance, towards a coffee bar. There is a nice view of the arena. I hope it’s open and has seating. It’s morning, so I’m optimistic. Now I’m going right here. I hope it’s open. I hope so It’s magnificent I’m going up the stairs. It doesn’t seem to be open. I was thinking of having a coffee here. A concert is being prepared in the arena. Why should I pay the entrance fee, when I can see everything from here. I asked inside, they say I can sit down and drink coffee. I’m waiting for the waitress to bring me coffee. This is why I came to Pula. It’s nice, I enjoy it. Here they bring me coffee. I got coffee. Yesterday, before the trip to Pula, I found this cafe on the Internet. Cafe Skala, right next to the Pula Arena. Go left from the arena entrance and up the stairs. The best view of the arena. Friendly waiters and all recommendations for this cafe. Espresso 1.8 euros, with this view a very cheap price. I see that they are preparing a concert, I don’t know who is singing. I’m going to drink some coffee and finish this video. This is where I’m going to end this video. Pula is one of the most beautiful cities in Istria. A city of incredible history and architecture. Pula (tal. Pola, istrovenetski Poła, istriotski Puola, lat. Pietas Iulia), grad u zapadnoj Hrvatskoj.
