Bodrum | Turkey | 4K
bodram is one of the most prestigious resorts in Turkey a favorite vacation spot for many Europeans especially Germans Englishmen and Norwegians bodram is not like most typical Turkish resorts it is more like a small Greek town with quiet streets white and blue houses and azure sea which is why Bodram is nicknamed Little Greece they really have a lot in common like the Greek islands bodram is located on the coast of the Aian Sea which is considered cleaner and cooler than the Mediterranean the history of Bodram is closely connected with Greece and its culture i will tell you about this later but the most important thing is that Greece can literally be seen from Bodram namely the Greek island of K is clearly visible right from the Bodram coast it is located only 15 km from Turkey and many tourists who come to rest in Bodram also visit the Greek islands of CS roads and other islands fairies go there regularly it is very convenient instead of one country you can see two at once bodram is located in southwestern Turkey in the province of Mugla on the coast of the Bodram Peninsula 430 km from Antalya population of the city 36,733 people the climate in Bodram is quite mild thanks to the fresh seab breeze blowing from the Aian Sea it is not as hot here in summer as at the resorts of the Mediterranean coast the average temperature in July and August is plus 30° C plus 32°C and in spring and autumn it is within plus 22° plus 26° C the beach season on the Aian Sea begins in June and lasts until October bodram can be roughly divided into two parts central which is considered more youthful noisy and partying with a large number of nightclubs bars and other entertainment venues the main city marina with a large number of yachts is also located here in the outskirts of the city with cozy clean beaches more respectable hotels and quiet atmospheric streets the center is bustling with life around the clock during the day there are always a lot of tourists and at night lovers of parties and dancing until the morning come here and by the way among all the Turkish resorts it is in Bodram that the highest density of bars nightclubs restaurants and discos is and the British jokingly call Bodram the bed of Europe because of the consonants of the words Bodramum and Bedum but there are few equipped beaches in the center most of them are occupied by yacht births and a yacht ride is one of the most popular entertainments among tourists in Bodram the bays and wild beaches on the Aian coast are incredibly beautiful and the water is clean and with excellent visibility so diving or snorkeling directly from the yacht will give unforgettable emotions the most popular beach in Bodram is Gumbit Beach there’s a smooth entry into the water and the beach itself has fine pleasant sand this place is regularly awarded the blue flag for its cleanliness the beach is large and long so even at the peak of the season you can find a place here in the distant past Hakarnasses one of the most famous cities of the ancient Greek civilization was located on the site of Bodram and belonged to the kingdom of Korea under the rule of King Mausalus Hakarnasses prospered and grew rich capturing neighboring regions one after another after the death of Masalus by order of his wife an unprecedented mausoleium was erected in his honor which eventually became one of the seven wonders of the world the mausoleum was about 45 m high with incredibly expensive and beautiful decoration it was finally destroyed at the beginning of the 15th century by several earthquakes and was later dismantled for stones for other buildings and today only a few fragments of its former splendor remain on the site of the mausoleum what other attractions can Bodram boast of peter’s Castle is a medieval fortress built by the Knights Hospitaler to protect the city harbor for the construction of the castle the crusaders used the blocks and parts of marble columns that remained from the destroyed mausoleum st peter’s Castle was built at the end of the 15th century the ancient theater was built during the reign of the same mouse and unlike his mausoleium has been preserved very well so well that various concerts and festivals are still held there and the theat’s capacity is 10,000 people the gate of Mos was once the western entrance to the ancient city of Hakarnasses they were part of a huge defensive structure with powerful walls 7 km long which was also erected during the reign of the legendary Mausalus true the defensive line did not last long literally 30 years after its construction Alexander the Great destroyed the city walls during his siege windmills this attraction is not as old as the previous ones but it is definitely worth climbing here on the hill dividing the central bay and the Gumbit district there are several dilapidated mills they were built in the 18th century to make flour and operated until the 1970s of the last century this place is famous not only for its mills but also for its stunning views of the Seabays the city and the castle of St peter well as the locals say this is the best location from which to watch the sunset from here it looks especially picturesque bodram is not a typical Turkish city it has a distinct Greek character and history it is suitable for a leisurely holiday with the whole family and for lovers of nightife and for history buffs and for active tourists who want to explore the Aian Sea with scuba diving and see as many interesting places in this region as possible
