Hi,, when I came to Rome , the most attracted thing here is The fountains there is a fountain in every famous or important building. it is not just a fountain… that is there is a beautiful art work accompanied with every fountain. we are going to visit one of the most beautiful fountains in the world. Fontana di Trevi or Trevi Fountain The specialty of Rome streets is they look always like ancient Rome. it may look like 1000 years old. Because the buildings are not allowed to paint modern colors. they use dark or old looking colors. which looks like ancient Rome. the streets are paved with stones. the 18th century build beauty is visited by about 30000 persons a day this is also a location for many Hollywood cinemas. The great Bernini was the first person, which started the construction by the instruction of POPE. We can see many signatured amazing constructions of Bernini in Rome and nearby places. but unfortunately the pope was died at the starting stage of the project and the work had been stopped only by completing the base. then the project was again started by the famous architect at that time Salvi salvi died at the half finished stage. then the construction was completed by Pannini. It was inaugrated on 1762 when coming to the statues in the fountain. the main statue at the center is the Oceanus -God of water below him There are sea Gods named Titans. and they are holding Hippocamps. they are Half horse and half fish creatures in Greek mythology. Romans build many aqua ducts to bring water from different parts to Roma city. among them , one build on 19 BC and functioning now is feeding water to Trevi fountain. its name is Aqua virgo or Aqua virgine. it starts from Castle Gandolfo, near the summer Palace of Pope. there are two big statues at the right and left sides of the main statue. the left side indicates the Abundance and the right side indicates the Health there are two more states above this large statues. the left side shows the emperor ordering to build Trevi fountain. right side shows a virgin lady shows the source of water to Roman solders for Trevi fountain. we can see 4 more statues at the top of the Trevi fountain. they are indications of the abundance by water. the first statue is a virgin holding fruits. it means the abundance of fruits. second is a virgin holding grains. it means the abundance of harvest. third statue is virgin holding grapes. it means the abundance of grape or wine. fourth is virgin holding flowers. all abundance which water can give is indicated in four statues. there are some interesting activities also happening near the fountain. peoples are throwing coins to the water. there is some interesting beliefs behind this, if we throw a coin backwards with your right hand above the left shoulder , you will return to Rome. if you throw two coins you will find a lover at Rome. if you throw three coins ,you will getting married at Rome. as per records about 3000 euros are collecting from water every day. this amount is using to charity purposes. the statues are sculptured in a porous stone, which is commonly available in Rome and nearby places.
