Rolling Through France: Our Epic Motorhome Road Trip
Welcome back to Windless Tales. We’ve got some exciting news to share with you, so stay tuned to find out more. Yeah, thank you. So, after 5 years of owning our VW camper van from Camper King, we’ve sadly made a decision to let it go and we’ve upgraded to a Shasson motor home at uh it’s a 777 Ultimate H. It’s like 7.2 m long, but we just wanted a few more comforts because last year when we did our 3WE trip in our van, it just got a little bit too much with the weather. So, we’ve got a great little setup. Uh it’s got a fixed bed in the back. It’s got a garage kitchen, a huge fridge, uh a face tof face seating, and then obviously the chairs spin around and stuff. So, um yeah, we’ve already got an adventure booked. We’re going to share it with you now. It’s 2 weeks in France and let’s see how we got on. Okay, so this year we’re going to go down to Kelly, get across the shuttle, go over to Normandy, then make our way down to the Lua Valley, then to Ashon in Bordeaux, the Pyrenees, then back through the door in Salat and Samura, and then back home. Our first stop was in Normandy. We found a great little campsite on pitchup.com. Uh it was €12 for the night. So, we’ve made it down to Lemons and in the town. 24-hour parking just for motor homes and it’s free. So, I think lots of people relate uh Lemons to the 24-hour race, but this is a beautiful medieval town. Uh so, we’ll go take you around. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. We absolutely just love this old French rustic look. It looks something like Disney everywhere you go. Uh it’s really cool. Turns out Lus has brown bears. Uh, so we’ve read the instructions on what to do when you see one. Apparently, don’t run. Talk to it very softly and back away. Uh, let’s hope we don’t see one. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. So, walk completed. 12.4K. Very hilly. And uh we didn’t see any bears other than this one. Right. Today I’m going to ride the cold tomal from the campsite. It’s about 25 miles and uh it’s one of the iconic clines from Sord France. In fact, I think it’s one of the oldest. So uh I love a suffering and uh we’ll catch you at the top. That’s what I got to get to. Well, I’ve never been stopped by a herd of cows ever before. So, uh, cold completed. Just about 151. Uh it’s very busy up here. Uh got this glorious weather. Managed to get a couple of Dicky Dicky cycle stickers on the one behind me. And now it’s for the fun bit downwards. Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. So, we’ve come to a little town called Salat medieval place. It is absolutely beautiful. So, we’re going to take a look around. Heat. Heat. I’m on heat. Heat. Heat. Actually, before we go to the uh where we’re stopping overnight, we’re going to stop at the Chatau D Shambort uh which was right on our doorstep and we didn’t realize. So, we’ll uh going to have a mooch around. We’ve got this is the last of the uh the filming that we’ve done. Uh we are going to be making our way back to uh Calala. Uh we’re going to be stopping at Castile’s site, which we did last time, and uh then it’s back home. So, all in all, short journey. Um but uh let’s watch out for what we’re doing next.
