The Island of The Winds | Mykonos, Greece | Cinematic Travel Short Film shots on LUMIX S9
When you travel to Greece, there’s a small island floating in the heart of the Aegean Sea. Often known as “The Island of the Winds.” And its real name is Mykonos. The winds here aren’t just weather. They’re the summer spirits of the island. They’re a presence — a force. Sometimes a whisper. But sometimes… a roar. One moment, is a soft breeze wrapping around your shoulders. Next, it’s the Meltemi, a fierce northern wind that barrels through the island during the summer months. Stirring the sea. And sweeping through narrow streets like a ghost of ancient gods. The north side of Mykonos is where it plays hardest. Open. Wild. And untamed. Though it may feel intense, it isn’t the enemy. It chases away the burning heat of summer, letting the island breathe, and letting us enjoy the warmth of the season. And when we talk about wind… the windmills enter the story. The island’s iconic windmills, which no longer spin, but still standing tall and still, proud as reminders of the past. They’ve become the symbol of Mykonos, silent witnesses to centuries of storms, stories, and sunrises. Timeless, unmoving, unforgotten. We, the travelers, are only side characters in this story. But one thing is certain when we visit Mykonos. We don’t just visit. We sense it. We feel the spiritual winds as they come to greet us. In their own way.

Many people think of it as just a party island — and yes, it is. But many areas of this island also offer epic landscapes and vibes, which is why I created this travel short film to capture its beauty.
P.S. I apologise that some of the footage is a bit shaky — my tripod could hardly stand against the strong gusts and sea breeze, so I had to film most of it handheld. Hope you enjoy it though!
