Ep 6 Europe 25 France
[Music] We’re Gaza, Susie, and Claude. Join us on the open road. [Music] We’ve driven about 300 kilometers to a place called Andlao Andelo in France. So, um we left about 11:00 this morning. We drove through we drove into Luxembourg, out of Luxembourg into Germany, short visit and then out of Germany into France. And here we are again. Beautiful. Absolutely stunning here. [Music] And is a village on the Ansas wine. route between Strasburg and Colmar. The village dates from the 9th century. It’s a wine growing town with lots to see such as its abbey church and castles which we didn’t actually visit due to the hot weather. Anglau is well worth a visit though. [Music] little doggy station. Lovely. Throw your poo bag away and take a couple of new ones also. And this is just amazing. A bicycle repair unit. Look at this. I mean, how cool is that? Brilliant. [Music] Colorful half-timbered houses line the streets here in Ida’s Villa, an authentic wine village. age on the Alcest wine route. [Music] Here you can admire the view over the vineyards and the hills of the Voj. [Music] We’re in Kisburg or Kazbour or Kaisbury. We’re off into the town to explore. See what we can find. I think first of all, we need some food cuz we are hungry. Don’t want to be on the main road there in the corner. We found a nice little cafe stroke restaurant on the corner. Right, let’s tuck in. I’ve got a tart flomay nur without bacon. And Susie Oh, we got plumbers as well. Has got a saying but with monster. She’s got monster on her. Monster cheese. And and I have got the lard on me. in the ladons. Right, I’ve got myself a cider and I’m drinking out of a little bowl. I was just saying I think I’m meant to be drinking out of this bowl and then suddenly the waitress is going to come by with a packet of peanuts and everyone’s going to laugh. Cidra Du is it dedu the sweet cider. Very nice. Staying on the Al Sasquin route, we arrive in Qua, which was elected favorite village by the French in 2017. [Music] Time for an ice cream. [Music] Like a lot of these towns or villages, the architecture is second to none and the colors used on the buildings are beautiful. Queso is first mentioned in 1227. Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II purchased a castle here. As we saw, only a tower and a ruin remain. [Music] If you look very closely over there, you can see where we’re parked. It’s cooling down a bit now. Little clouds again. The dark clouds are coming over. Hopefully, we’ll get a little bit of rain cuz uh it’s been a hot one today. [Music] [Music] We’ve just popped over the border into Germany and I desperately wanted piece of cake. Nice piece of German cake. Schlagana. And we got it. and I’m enjoying it so much. Nice place here. Still very, very hot or very warm at the moment. Um, I’d rather be in Barbados where it’s much, much cooler, believe it or not. [Music] [Music] We’ve found ourselves a lovely campsite. It’s called Camping Esplanade or Esplanada. It’s in mid mid France mid to middle France east near the town of Besson. Bon Bon in a village called Chromary in a near village called Chromary or Chromari. It’s very hot at the moment and we’re going to we decided to stay here till Thursday to ride out the heat. Um, luckily we have a river right next to us and it’s gorgeous. So, and it’s not too deep. It’s great for Claude and for us just to cool down. And the people here are really lovely. I mean, seriously. So, uh, yeah, heaven on earth at the moment. Now we’re having breakfast. Bless you. Bless you. We’ve decided to come down to the river for a quick cool off on a paddle. Especially for Claude. He loves it. Chasing that ball. Currents. Well, I mean, it’s not very deep at all, but there is a bit of a current as I will show you. Bring the ball here. Come on. Bring your ball. George. That’s so [Music] our pump, our water pump has stopped working. It ran dry while we were driving. We didn’t realize, but the uh the shower, someone had hit the shower um regulator and so it was running all the time while we were driving. When we stopped, we had a shower full of water. Anyway, we think we’ve burnt it out. So, we are now here at Aventur’s camping car 25 and they’re fitting a new one for us for €200. And we’ve only been here what half an hour and I think he’s finished. So, hats off to them. Fantastic. I love it. [Applause] Perfect. Okay. Okay. Hey. Oh, that’s fantastic. Thank you so much. Messy, messy, messy. Fantastic. This young man has just saved the day. Bless it. [Music] Okay, here. Oh, yes. We’re having a communal barbecue here on the campsite. Everyone’s invited. Just bring your own food. Let me introduce you to a few people. That’s Mick from Burnley. Him and his him and his partner run this place. [Music] Where is she? Spicy. Uhoh. Uhoh. And that’s Nina who runs the place as well. Together with brother George and mother. Great. What a family. They tried um Dathlon. Yeah. We thought Dathlon would have one. You know, they don’t they had everything else. Yeah, just a pan. [Music] Hello, Nick. Right. Wakey wakey. It’s okay. He likes horses. Hello. We’ve just driven half an hour to a town called Bessan Song. Bessan Song. It’s not hot at all today. It’s a nice temperature. I’d say around what, 25, 26. Yeah. Which is so much cooler than it’s been, I tell you. We’ve been hitting the 36 38° and it’s been hot. Anyway, it’s a lovely cool day. We love it. And uh let’s see what this town has to offer. I think first of all, as I’ve always as I’m always saying, coffee and a simple place. [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] found a nice cafe and all I wanted was a cheese roll. the sandwich forage and they had sandwich forage but it was wrapped in lots of jamong which um being a strict vegetarian I don’t really like and I don’t really want it. So, uh, I went with, um, peacon slice and I think it’s a cheese an overlar cheese straw. [Music] We’ve just driven another 30 kilometers to the village of Fond Fondo. Fondo F. Yeah. Um, apparently it’s very nice, oldie worldy. This is just what we like. So, it is actually looks lovely here. Absolutely gorge. Someone suggested that we visit Funam while we’re in the area. We parked up at the edge of the village and wandered down the road towards the castle, an old village wash house. This part of the village dates from the 12th century and is beautiful. built in this lovely pale stone. The source of the river is close to the castle and we followed it down to the recently restored mill. Just walked across to this mill and I asked her, “Do you sell any drinks?” “Yes.” He says, “No problem.” And then lo and behold, we came across a load of tables and chairs. Have a look. Hm. Go have a look in the barn cider thing. Right. I’ve been told to go and have a look in the barn cider thing. Let’s have a look. Ah. Um. Is it okay for video? Yes. No problem. Fantastical. Wow, this is amazing. We came across the mill just by chance. We were very impressed with the hospitality of the couple who run and look after it. and afterwards sat in the shade with a nice cold drink. A definite 10 out of 10 from the panel. Oh, wow. Bloody hell. Wow. Look at that. Now I believe it. Yeah. And it’s shallow water.
