EXPLORING SANTORINI’S MAGIC … BEYOND THE SUNSETS!
What am I doing? [Music] I hear you have the best corn in all of Santorini. Yes, I would like to try one. How much? €4. €4. Very good. Fresh corn. Fresh corn. Butter, lemon, salt. [Music] That’s good. [Music] Okay. It’s gone. Very good. Very nice. [Music] But salt. Salt. Lemon. No. Lemon. Paprika. Yeah. Paprika. Yes. Voila. I watch you as you drive. Do you know I’m looking? [Music] Do you know how much I love you? You put my favorite song on. I put my feet up and we just sing along. And I can’t help but feeling just loving this moment. Can we stay here forever? I’m loving this moment. Can we stay here together? If I could stop the time, don’t you know that I would? Cuz I’m justing [Music] You don’t like normally again. [Music] And so here it is just another hard day in Santorini. Looking at my incoming text messages. Having a delicious ear of corn fresh off the grill, followed by a yellow donkey. [Music] It’s very hot. So, one of the pleasant surprises is if you come to Santorini, you can get street corn grilled on a little charcoal grill and bring it back to your romantic hideaway on the caldera. And because the guy was so nice, he put a little Greek flag in our corn. So be careful you don’t stick yourself in the eye with it. nose. The perfect compliment to street corn with butter and salt just the way you like it would be a local beer. I know. It’s so good. Now, since you’ve been in France, you don’t see corn on the cob very often. Sometimes you have to get on a plane and fly to Santorini just to have corn. And because we’re close to the 4th of July, this probably reminds you of picnics you used to have as a child when your parents would go to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. My parents never went far for this summer where where it’s always sunny and the children laugh and play and every day is wonderful. Ann has had enough and that I can finish the rest of the scraps after she’s had some corn. Scraps. Scraps. I got the widest part of the corn thing. I was just going to offer you a little yellow donkey. I got extra cold yellow donkey. Where’d you get that? Extra cold. Where? At the store that has extra cold yellow donkey. So far, nothing. It’s extra cold here. It is extra cold. Look at the bottle. It’s sweating. And there is the complete reenactment of the Fourth of July on Martha’s Vineyard from Anne’s family. My family never went to Martha’s Vineyard. [Music] Well, here we are on our second day in Santorini. It’s a beautiful day on the water and we have stopped at the world famous Mama Theo rooftop garden in Sunset Terrace. to try these incredible red donkey and yellow donkey local beers. Come along and try this experience with us. Today we tasted red dunkey and yellow dunkey beer. They’re both supposed to be light and we didn’t know the difference. So, we tried both and it appears the only difference is the color. We don’t know if they actually come from donkeys. I could get really gross about this is like dunkey pee and this is dunkey pee with red in it. No, not going to put that in there. doesn’t taste like you’d expect a donkey would taste. Far from it. But at least we can say we have tried dunkey beer. So Jeff, what’s your favorite thing about today? My favorite thing about today was Ann was in charge of where we go. Hello. Big leaves for madame. From Yes. For me. Delicious. Enjoy it. Lovely. Thank you. Jeff is having the seafood salad. Would you like to tell us about it? So Ann, it looks like you have stuffed fig leaves, which is sort of a Greek traditional thing. They’re not stuffed fig leaves. What are they? They’re stuffed grape leaves. They’re stuffed grape leaves. Yes. Okay. I make them at home, but you refuse to eat them with lemon spaces between them. Okay. They look delicious. Especially cuz you’re scraping all the stuff off of them. That looks so good. I don’t care if it’s ziki sauce. I see. You’re in grease. You realize I don’t care. They dip everything in that. They even put their cocoa puffs in that. Everything comes with that. Oh, yeah. Okay, let’s see the first mouthful of that. grape leaf here. It’s going to be a while. Okay. All right. While Ann is very carefully, meticulously wiping all the good sauce off of her stuff. Oh my gosh, one fell on the table. Jeff’s salad on the other side is the seafood salad with octopus and shrimps and clams, all the good things that make fishermen [Music] What are we doing? me. Yes. Yes. My son. Yes. [Music] Me. My My father. Yes. My father. Nicholas. My son Nicholas, my brother Yorgos, my grandfather Yorgos, my my my sister my brother-in-law Yorgos I know Nikos my the son of my brother my brothers Nicholas only mess Yes. Papa This is Jack. This is where we’re filming later. I think this would be the place. Mr. Is there a shirt there you like for you? Look at that shirt. That shirt with like the little blue domes that looks like you’re here on the island. It is a very cool shirt. It is a very cool shirt. Would you wear it? Probably not. Why? Well, there’s more to shop. We’ll keep shopping. You have to look closely to see the little houses. That’s or the little buildings. That’s what I like about it. It’s not like in your face. It’s very subtle. Okay, I’ll tell you what we’ll do. We’ll keep we’ll keep walking and come back if that’s the shirt. That’s a winner for you. I know. My wife says, “I’m going to look around. I’ll be back if that’s the winner.” But that’s for you. She says that sometimes for you. Look, they have whole family houses here. Excellent. You could like We could buy matching clothes. Please don’t make me do that. All right, let’s get moving on. All right. It goes good with your eyes. Your eyes. It’s It would Okay. It would go good with your eyes. I hope you want. These are things for you. It’s time for you. Are you trying to balance out things for me with things with that you’ve got? Yes. Okay. Now I understand. I wonder if these are from our friend shop from our friend the seahorse. There’s a rounded glass. Yeah, true. And I know [Music] it’s my grandmother. I believe the cruise ship is unloaded. I believe so. What are you doing? What’s that? What are you doing? I’m making a little footage for somebody’s YouTube channel. It’s a good thing you wore your thong today. this kid. They said hello. Welcome for lunch for drink sir. [Music] Hello. Hello everybody. Welcome to One of them [Music] donkey bathing suit. Those are donkey bathing suits. You’re right. Grab it. See that long sleeve one in that color blue? There is. That would be so nice with your hair and your Again, it’s a linen shirt. Yeah. Which means linen comfortably. Means I have to iron. Iron. Iron. Such is life. Baby Jinx. Okay. If you ask me, I’ll iron for you. Really? You never ask me. You do lips. I know. I know. [Music] So, while Jeff contemplates a more leisurely departure, an is at the door ready to go with a little bit of impatience because she is ready to explore Santorini. Okay, let’s go, Jeff. Time to get out of here. Time to get up off. Unplug your phone. So Ann, when you go to the explore today, are you going to go on a deaf march? No, Jeff. We’re going to go on a scooter. A scooter? Yes, we had to go with a scooter because the quad tour that we reserved, they told us we’re too old. Imagine that. Too old. Nobody’s ever told us we’re too old to do something. What we’re going to have to do is go back and get fake IDs made that say we’re 50 years old so we can go on these fake tours. Well, they wanted you had to be under 65. Well, I would go if if you’re going to get a fake ID, go all the way, baby. Go to 55. Okay. All right. We’ll work on it when we get back home. We’ll make some fake IDs up like college IDs or something that show we’re 55 years old from from the University of Wisconsin. There you go. There you go. Okay. All right. That’s our plan. All right. Let’s go. Let’s go. I want you to wipe that smoke off your face. What? What? [Music] I want you to wipe that smirk off your face. What happened to your arm? Are you like Venus de Milo here on Santorini? Thank you. Try it. I’ve spotted some lovely purses, handbags. Aren’t they lovely? I feel You have to be on. [Music] Okay. [Music] Thank you so much. Let me just probably Well, you have to chill a little bit. going to give me a flavor. [Music] [Music] Good job. [Music] It’s really yummy. What you want? I’m not very good at making the ice cream. Like this tastes good. Yeah. In a second up front. [Music] So today we went to Miltos for lunch and we had the most wonderful lunch. These are the ladies that welcomed us there. Come on with us and we’ll show you what we had for lunch. Bye-bye. They don’t know about YouTube. They knew it. They said stay hooking for lunch. Come on over here. Okay, hang on. [Music] See that heart-shaped pool? Heart-shaped opening. The first time we came to Santorini, we stayed over there on the cliff. Now we’re staying way over where you see that tiny cruise ship parked in the water. We’re staying above that on the cliff. So Ann, here you are in Santorini and you had a scooter ride here all the way to the end of the island. I did. And as we look out over the water, we can actually look back to the cruise ships which are way back there where we’re staying. So, we had like a windy road to get here. But fortunately, we found a lovely little restaurant with a nice breeze today and we’re going to have a lovely lunch. Do you have any words for all your subscribers? If you can come to Santorini, you got to come at least once. I thought we came that once a few years back. And then when we moved to Nice and EasyJet decided to run a cheap route non-stop from Nice to Santorini, I found out that that wasn’t just once. I got to come again. I think that Santorini, particularly at sunset, looks like what I’m betting heaven must look like. And the nice part with a direct flight from Nice is it’s only two 2 hours and a few minutes and you’re here. 2 hours and 20 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, that’s good advice. This is my lunch. It’s looks like a risoto. It’s made with orso and shrimp and muscles. And there’s some Greek in there and tomatoes and a tomato sauce. It looks delicious. I can’t wait to dig in and eat. That looks absolutely delicious. And while Ann is having a lovely lunch with a breeze blowing in her hair, I will be having the codfish on a bed of pureed mashed potatoes with a few green beans shown in just so that my mom will be happy I’m eating vegetables. Bona petit. So Ann, you are on the upper shaded deck right now. And as we look around, we’re here a late lunchtime. And pretty much it’s the staff and us. But it looks like in the evening they must do very well because there’s a whole another lower level here for sunset and then stairs that go down all the way to where the yachts pull up. So I imagine they do very well here at dinnertime and sunset. [Music] [Music] She loves a good job. [Music] Well, I had a lovely lunch here, my dear, other than a clothing disaster. Um, everything else has been perfect. [Music] I can’t let you go, baby. I just want to tell you that. No, no, no. Oh dear. All of my friends say, “Girl, you better take care cuz that man is trouble. You best beware.” And though deep down, I know I might be headed for tear drops. Now that you got me started, I just can’t stop. No, cuz I love you, baby. I can’t let you go, baby. I got to tell you. [Music] [Music] And here is our last morning in Santorini and it’s early in the morning so the sun really isn’t up yet. And as we look down into the caldera, we’ve got four cruise ships waiting for people to come explore beautiful Santorini. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Uh-oh. [Music] Oh no. Oh no. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music]

Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

I pray I can still meet the love of my life. I'm 59. Hasn't happened yet. Love this intro and your videos. Thank you for giving me hope!
Yes! My 🇫🇷 husband once told me not to serve corn on the upcoming guests from there because it is what farmers feed the pigs. He loves it now, though.
@An & Jeff–Do you have a barbecue grill of any kind? Thinking of your terrace….
4 euros? It would not cost that in Expensive Los Angeles. The Vendor should have the prices displayed so he doesn’t make-up a #
OMG: That corn looks delicious!!!!
Americans believe they live in the best place on earth. If you’ve ever spent time in certain parts of Europe, you know better. I’m glad you had a wonderful vacation.
Hello, if you don’t mind me asking, where is your puppy? Do you use a service? Thank you 😊
Was it very hot? I'm in NYC, and it's 95 and humid 🥵 How was it there?
I’m with you An – no tzatziki sauce on anything for me. I know it’s very common, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it!
I laughed watching this video. Stuffed grape leaves looks like donkey poops. 😂(it is just joking and hope it doesn’t offend you.)

What a beautiful area…like how you two have had a relaxing holiday.
