The Hotel Strip To Central Paphos
Hi, this is Dominic from Pathos Life and in tonight’s film we have a nighttime drive along the hotel strip through Kato Pathos and finishing in C uh central Pathos. So here’s the map first of all and we’re going to drive along the hotel strip. We’ll have a little loop around the triangle cuz that’s always fun to see. And we’re going to cut through Kato Pathos. We can’t go down Bar Street because it’s closed at night at the moment. But we’ll go from Kings Avenue Mall up to Kennedy Square and then we’ll take the Yoscopy Road to the Stadium roundabout where we’ll finish. [Music] So, we’re just leaving Yoscapoo Beach at the moment and we’re going past the Luna Park on the left. This was Saturday night and it was all lit up and bright and busy. I drove past it on Monday and it was shut so they might close on Mondays just to let you know if you were thinking of going that way. Now I may or may not name all the hotels along the route here depending on how it goes. It’s a bit trickier at night as well. Anyway, the first one up is the Louis Fon Hotel there. That’s on the left. And just after that, there’ll be a little track that takes you down to St. Nicholas Chapel, which is very popular for weddings and what have you. And uh that all that nice illuminated hotel there, that’s the uh Pioneer Beach Hotel. It’s very pretty at night. Unfortunately, I can’t now fly a drone in the evenings or anytime around here because it’s uh not allowed due to proximity to the airport. There’s the Asamina suites on the left followed by the uh Aquamarie Hotel on the roundabout. It’s cuz you can normally get nice evening or dusk shots with the drone. Well, then you’ve got uh the Eevee Marie Hotel and now you get to the main chunk of the strip. So, you got the Cypria Bay Hotel and the Cpria Maris Beach Hotel. Have a little look over the other side where the Eliahon Resort is. And then you got the Louis Ledra Beach Hotel on the left and a fair number of restaurants on the right there as well. After Louis Ledra, we have the Athena Beach Hotel, which is probably the biggest one on the strip. [Music] And after that, you have the Aphina Royal Beach Hotel. [Music] And there’s a little uh square through there that has quite a few nice little restaurants. I need to go have another wander in there actually cuz it looks very pretty at night and it’s nice and cool filming at night. Now on the left, you can’t see it at the moment though, but that’s where you’d have the Louis Imperial Beach Hotel and there’s a T for two just there. And on the left up here again, before you hit the triangle, you can turn in to get to Pakamos Beach. But we’re not going to do that tonight. Instead, we’re going to go do a loop around the triangle. There are lots of uh nice restaurants here. And you got Felix the Cat uh disco bar in there, too. [Music] That used to be up in Bar Street next to where Linkers used to be. [Music] There’s lots of restaurants on uh the Triangle. Definitely worth having a look. Now coming back down this road which will take us back onto the main road that we were on before. The Olympic Lagoon Resort is the hotel directly ahead. That’s very popular place. And then you got the M4A Resort, but squashed between the two of them is the Sweet 48 restaurant which looks very nice indeed at night, I have to say. And there’s a little Irish pub just up here before that as well in there. Now we’re heading towards the main Sodat Beach. You can see the big tower on the right. [Music] And the next one, a new one, the building next to it. I like the way the tower is illuminated like that. Looks quite nice. So, you got Zodat Beach on the left here and the Antasia Beach Bar. Very popular at night just by how crowded that car park was. And then you’ve got the Amarvi Hotel for couples. It looks very nice at night. We’re getting a few restaurants appearing on the ride, too. it. Don’t don’t assume that the seafront and harbor is the only place to go for restaurants. There are plenty between uh the hotel strip and uh the seafront. Right, that’s the Alexander the Great Hotel. [Music] And apologies to the Almra, but I’m switching the camera over to the other side of the road now cuz as I said, there are lots of restaurants here. Well worth a visit. Look at how nicely illuminated it is there. I should do a nighttime walk along there at some point. Let’s face it, it’s a lot easier doing a nighttime walk than a daytime walk at the moment because it’s a bit cooler. Mind you, it’s very humid. It’s more humid at night, I’d say. That’s the uh Poseidon Avenue water feature, which is very pretty. And now you got the Hotel Annabel coming up on the left. [Music] And it’s basically pretty much all there’s a few shops, but it’s mainly restaurants and bars from here on in. There’s a Imperial Chinese up there looking very nice at night. And we’re not going to go down all the way to Cleventitus. We’re going to be turning white soon and cutting up through Catipos that way. Now, as I said, we can’t go down Bar Street because it’s pedestrianized from 6:00 p.m. onwards up till the end of October. But I did a walkie-talkie film down there which was very popular. Published a couple of days ago now. Got Dionis’ Hotel on the right. And just after Flintstones up here there’s the restaurant where you can go if you like to see Greek dancing. They seem to have it on most nights. And you got delegate on the right. I think it’s called Democrats or something. That one there is where the dancing goes on. [Music] And we’re going to be turning left here because it’s one way and you have to Apparently, Excuse me. Apparently they’re doing up the car park around this church. Mayor was mentioning it the other day on Facebook. Here’s the Buzz Pub. And we’ll be turning right here again because you have to. And that’s illuminated building. There is going to be the new Museum of St. Paul, I’ve been led to believe. I don’t know why anyone would make up such a story. And we’re coming down to Aces Bar on the left there. That is followed by the Sophiana Resort. Now we’re going to go up to uh Kings Avenue Mall area. Now that puzzled me because that poker place there was open but it was illuminated but it didn’t look open. So I just puzzled why anyone would pay for all that electricity if they’re not actually open. But perhaps it’s all indoors being card playing and what have you. But uh there’s one of the Ottoman bars that you’ll find. And coming up on the left will be Fabrica Hill. uh and the outdoor ancient theater. But because it’s so dark at the moment, I think I’ll do some marketing. So, please do subscribe to our YouTube channel and share the films far and wide. It doesn’t cost you anything and it helps us out immensely. I can assure you. And if you do want to help us out financially, go to our buy me a coffee page at buy me a coffee.com/pathoslife. And there you can chuck us a few coffees. All coffees are very gratefully received. And if you want to get something back in return, it’s zazzle.co.uk/store/pathoslife/collections. There you can buy all sorts of memorabilia using pictures that we’ve taken up and put on Facebook originally and then transferred to mugs, etc. Right, we’re on the main dual carriageway now into central PAOS. So you got Kings Avenue mole roundabout coming straight up. on the left. That white strip you see is the Pathos uh walkway that links uh the archaeological park with the top of Fabrica Hill. But we’re going to be going up past Kings Avenue Mall, which looks very pretty at night and heading up towards Oldtown Kennedy Square area. There’s Kings Avenue Mall. Very colorful. Now, after the garden center on the right, there’s a big car park and it’s very handy because on the left there are a number of takeaways and restaurants that pretty good and worth having a nose at. And it’s nice having the parking. Uh it used to be a dirt park and then uh it spent quite a while tarting it up and now it’s finished and you can use it. You got Cosmic Bowling on the right just there. Presumably it was the rival of Cosmic Bowling. That was the death nail for the bowling alley on Bar Street. And there you’ve got a rather posh looking alpha mega nicely lit up. And you got the mu uh the American Museum of not museum, American University of Beirut on the right. That’s they’ve done up an old building there. Very nice. It looks very nice indeed. Now, [Music] and now we’re in a retail area, mainly shops and restaurants or cafes rather, I suppose. It was Pap Antonio’s Bakers there. The bakers, a lot of them will be 24hour because we often get asked about from people who are arriving on the flight at about midnight. You’ll still be able to get your basic provisions from quite a few bakers. So, don’t worry on that front. [Music] And on the right, it will be going past the Green Air building. It’s hard to tell in at night exactly where it is. But uh no, actually before that, because I was a bit ahead of myself, that’s Muse Restaurant up there on top of that hill. You can’t really see it, but it’s nicely illuminates. the hill is. And now you have the green air building there. They obviously won’t be open at whenever it was on Saturday night. They’re good for solar panels and more. Now, in previous films, we’ve turned left here and gone into Oldtown or the commercial part of Oldtown because in truth, it’s all Oldtown really. But we’re going to stay on this road and we’ll be going past the Ivis Melotu Park on the right. And I’ve edited this somewhat because this road is normally one of the worst in uh PAOS in terms of traffic and cues. So uh there’ll be a few breaks. But that’s the park and it was renovated fairly last couple of years and it now looks really lovely. And the children’s play area is now something to be proud of as opposed to an eyes saw cuz it used to just be a rusty swing. And I’m not exaggerating there. Right. So, now we’re coming up to Kennedy Square and we’ll see a bit of that on the left. There it is. But we’re turning right in this film. There’s going to be the new documentation museum going there, which basically means doc documents pathos. It’s not just loads of papers, I have to say. On the right, you’ve got the main uh square of pathos. That lovely looking building there is actually the library, believe it or not. And then you got the monument and then you got the town hall. And on the left, this is a school. Very nice looking school indeed. And you got the municip municipal gardens on the right. You can’t see at night, but there’s a new statue up here for the Greek independence. You can’t really see it in this. Uh, it does get nicely illuminated, but you have to like walk up to it to see it properly. It’s a very nice little monument though. Now, this is the route that the carnival has taken in recent years going up here to back to Kennedy Square. And this is what it looks like at night. There’s not a lot uh more else to show you, but there is a nice uh monument down here to Macavius III. So, we’ll see that and uh then we’ll finish. But before we finish, we’re going to have a little jump uh to uh the roundabout by uh what used to be Debenhams and the stadium because uh they have a fountain there which looks quite nice at night. To be quite honest, this tonight didn’t have much oomph in it basically. I think it was because water cut downs or something. Anyway, here’s that Macas statue you’ll see on the left. [Music] Again, that’s worth walking up to to have a closer look. is one of those dread uh traffic lights which you definitely do not want ever to uh go across when the light is uh going from orange to red. It’ be an expensive mistake. So, we just cut off a chunk of the road there now cuz there wasn’t a lot to see on it, especially at night. And now we’re going to have a little go around the roundabout. And I do think it’s probably been turned down about bit to preserve water. But in Christmas time that looks a lot more impressive. Plus also in Christmas time you have lots of Christmas dec decorations around it, umbrellas and whatnot if I remember rightly. But there’s the stadium you can just see on the left. [Music] And with that, we will be heading up and out of Pathos to walk back to Pelmy. But I will say goodbye here. Okay. Thanks for watching. Cheers. [Music]
We filmed this after a Saturday evening swim at Geroskipou Beach. First we drive along the Hotel Strip before making our way through Kato Paphos to Kings Avenue Mall. From there it’s up the road to Kennedy Square and past the Town Hall to the Stadium.
