Arriving At Moreton-In-Marsh Caravan And Motorhome Club Site (WEST SIDE)

[Music] Yeah. So, we’re on our way to Morton in Marsh. Yeah. Left Robin Lind’s leads up, didn’t we? At the roundabout, take the second exit. And we’re now on the A44. And it’s the A44 the rest of the way, isn’t it? [Music] Well, it’s been the A44 miles. 46 for a bit, was it? Okay. Yeah, it was and it was the A449 when we started. Yeah. And now on the A44. Yeah. Okay. So, we’re not too far away about 50 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, we haven’t been here for a while. Haven’t been to Morton Marsh since last year. Really? We’re on a service pitch here, which we’ve not done before, have we? It’s 8:40. Sorry. They haven’t done a service pitch at port in March. We’ve never had a service pitch. No. No. We’ll see if we could go to the new area. Yeah. Where we haven’t been before. We haven’t been there before. So hopefully it’ be a little bit different if and different certainly if you’ve never been to Morton and Marsh before. This is Broadway. We’re just going past it. Yeah. We’ll be going up the Broadway hill as well. way we go towards Broadway tower at the moment. Fish hill. This what? Fish hill, isn’t it? Fish hill is a Yeah, this is a real sort of climb, isn’t it? Sudden climb. And it’s sharp. That’s quite sharp end as well. Yeah. Some don’t have any trouble going down the hill. Trouble is having to slow down as well for the hit for the bends. [Music] watering on the hill. It’s quite steep and a bit narrow in bits. Yeah. You’re not really going to go, are you? He is. [Music] automatic gearbox doing a great job of keeping me at 30. Then it got stuck. Yeah, it felt like it got stuck, but got a bit worried cuz I got my foot right off the accelerator. It was still, you know, going downhill. There’s the arboritum. Yeah, went there last time, didn’t we? Yeah. In one mile, arrive at Morton Marsh on the left. Now, we had a really muddy walk, didn’t we, to the arboritum last year. You and Allison did. Yeah. Yeah. Walk back this way cuz it was wasn’t muddy. See the uh I never know if it’s blue or blue or is it blue or green? It’s a teal color. It’s a teal color, isn’t it? Yeah. See the teal sign. Arriving at Morgan Marsh on the left. On the left. Q. Yeah. Just about get in there. [Music] Do you want you to go there? Yeah, I know. I know. [Music] checked in or checked in. Yeah. Met quicker obviously than the people there who going to the reception. So, we prepaid, haven’t we? Yep. I was a little bit worried in there cuz I pulled in and didn’t see the second lane. Having to reverse back. Try not to push the car back onto the road. Oh, tree over. I was going to say there’s service pitches to your Well, we want to go to the left. You want to go to the left cuz you want to go in the new area. Okay. In the new area. people on here are on a premium pitch around the corner here. Yeah. The main difference is you get your own table. You can bench, don’t you? Yeah. And a barbecue thing, don’t you? I think there’s only two of them, but you see the point. No. She come without a ch a table and chair, I suppose. Yeah. Yeah. Dog walk. Dog walk that way. Now these That’s a service pitch without a warning cuz it’s black. Yeah. I don’t think there’s any no others down there. No. So, we’ll have to do the rounds. I notic they’ve given us a um sheet there with a a laminated sheet. Yeah, they have. Which way now then? Bit lost now. See what number pitches are. Are they grass ones? Yeah. That must be that area there. Yeah, there’s a some up here, I think. [Music] Yeah, there’s one just by the toilet block here. Yeah, we’re on pitch 140. It’s a bit of an odd pitch cuz it’s on this corner here, but there’s plenty of room for the car. Just don’t know if there’s enough room for the awning, but probably is. usually is gone right up against the the peg there. Handy for the dishwashing area and the laundry and the laundry for laundry today. Tuesdays and Fridays 7 till uh 7 5 till 7:15. We can have a pizza on Tuesday. Yeah. If you haven’t had too many pizzas. That pizza at Robin Linds was rather nice, wasn’t it? Yeah, we’ve had two though, didn’t we? Cuz they were rather nice. There’s a motor home service point. One of There’s another one, isn’t there? Yeah. Quite a few grass pitches. Quite surprising really. Yeah, four grass pitches in there. I tried to have a little run around on me bike um last time I was here. I think I got a bit lost. Yeah, but that’s the trouble. We’re driving around and was completely lost. Yeah, some points. Yeah, cuz we don’t normally come this side. That’s what No, that’s right. So, I’m not familiar with it. It’s like going to a whole different site. You reception must be through here then. Yeah, we’re on the west side, aren’t we? been on mainly on the east side of previous years. Struggling with these two. There’s the information hutsford [Applause] hedge hedgehog hunt. That’s not easy to say. I’ll send Poppy on that. Yeah. changing points. It’s Oh, it’s actually outside Station Road and a house leads. Oh, it is here. The late night rivals bay. No, you’re not allowed in. Stone the Wald Berlin Park Chipping Camden Broadway Alton Wine Ready Arms. I think we’re going there later, aren’t we? Yeah. Taxi car hire motor home repairs. It’s a map of Morton in Marsh. and a bit about the Albert Eaton. Sorry, and the railway. Time to for the railway. Cold farmers market. Oh, and a load load leaflets. Look at that. Different things to see. You’re not supposed to be in there, T. Poppy. Poppy, come on. Not supposed to be in wisdom of Norton. Spend ages in here just looking at this all the different cycling routes. I think we found the hedgehogs in there. They have just spotted this. I never heard of it. Please try to fill your aquar with the amount of water you like to use during your stay should you have any fresh water left. Oh, I see. Okay. So, reusing the water. I mean, that’s often the thing, isn’t it? If you fill it up and you still got some left. Yeah. Particularly for caravanas. I mean, obviously I tend to empty the aqua roll into the tank. But yeah, if you if you got a full one, just be careful. But yeah, nice idea. Wouldn’t that also collect rain water though? Is it? Well, it probably collect rain water. Yeah. It’s quite full, is it? Yeah. And that’s want to drink that. Yeah. You don’t want to drink that. Yeah. Just go for a walk to the hotel. If you go past the glamping pods where the dog walk is, past the fire pit that’s out of action. Look, it says turn left only. We turn right here. That was our muddy walk last year across the fields to the arboritum. You got absolutely filthy, didn’t you? Yeah. Right, Pops. You work out this gate. I think she’s worked it out. Oh god. Nearly. Sorry, Pops. Nearly got you. Right. See, see if we can do it better. Got it. Wait. Yeah. Come on. There we go. Down here. There we are. There’s the town. So, it’s a little bit quicker than going out the front entrance and down the road, particularly if you’re that end of the campsite. As usual, Poppy’s out in the lead. Go on and see if you can figure the gate out. You could nip through there. Anyway, it’s difficult to do holding a camera and a dog, right? Hang on, pops. God, pass the a lotments. Come on. I’m growing some tomatoes there, aren’t they? All right. Wait. Okay. Straight across. Or is it to the right here? I think it’s to the right, isn’t it? I think so. I don’t know. I think ingots were in the back. Yeah. Yeah. These are the hotel rooms, aren’t they? At the back. It’s where David Marian stayed in one of these when they came. Brian’s car. Here we are. So [Music] heat. [Music] Now we come to Borton on the water. Perhaps you could drive across that now. [Music] Call this the selfie bridge. Love taking selfies here. There you go. A selfie. It’s taking us about half an hour to get here. What was a 7 minute journey? [Music] Yeah, we somehow ended up at the museum again. There you go. I’m not going to film all of this again. I I’ve been here several times. I just love looking around here. Yeah. Not really noticed that before. The museum is what was the old mill, I think. [Music] Massie Ferguson tractor. Just having a nice little uh drink with Hey, S. She says you don’t want to be on camera. Well, some of my know Brian and Sue. Hi, my friends. There you go. A and I’ve got a huge plate of nachos. They won’t last. Nobody else has got anything. No, not yet. No. To share. Yeah. I’m going to feel really guilty. Oh, here they come. Got some sandwiches here with a bit of sun. I think you’ve got your hands full there. [Music] Yeah, just friend Allison’s turn up and just taking the dogs for a walk. They’re on leads cuz there’s sheep in this field or there were sheep in the field. They’re all gone now. This is the field that’s just outside the campsite and it was a field we walked at last April and it was absolutely muddy. It was thick thick mud. Thick mud there, wasn’t it? It was Yeah. Just just wheat here. Oh, yeah. [Music] I think so. Yeah. I’ll take you off. [Music] Well, girls, made it to the road and the arboritum and it’s warming up a bit. Getting quite hot now. come with a coat and it was raining. Yeah. 10 minutes ago. Cats as well, which is Yeah. Not clever. We had a nice little cup of coffee and a sandwich in the cafe with two wasps with well a bit more than two wasps. Half a dozen wasps. [Music] Just got to find our way back now. Yeah. Just got to get back, haven’t we? Yeah. Oh, I think I’ve reached the target. 5,000 steps. All right. Do you know we’ve been coming to Morton in Marsh since 2007? Yeah, that’s what I’ve I just look back and Yeah, we came 10th of May 2007. Yeah. Don’t know how long. And paid £4560. What for? Oh, I don’t know how long. Don’t know how long. No. And then we came in July 2007. And that was the famous time when the whole site flooded. Site had flooded. Yeah. It’s the first time though we’ve been on Well, I think it’s first time we’ve been on this side of the campsite. And it’s the first time we’ve been on a service pitch here. Yeah. So, it was a bit of a treat for us to be honest cuz it’s not it’s not that cheap coming here on a service pitch in the middle of July. No, it’s it’s the peak season, isn’t it? But coincidentally, we just had an email from the three tons in Ashewell who were saying what what were we saying? their um electricity bill has gone up some some incredible amount since uh before co and that is a lot of increases in prices everywhere isn’t it things like that cuz they weren’t they didn’t have the benefit the domestic customers have no the price cap yeah the price cap I keep saying this I mean it’s why campsites seem to be so expensive now compared to what else because the electricity prices have whacked up I mean I think sooner they introduce metering the better anyway anyway Let us know if you’ve been here and what what did you think of it? Have you um have you got a favorite campsite in the Cotsworlds cuz there are quite a few. There’s Broadway very near here. Yeah, we like Broadway. Um there’s some independent sites. There’s one at Chelenham. Yeah, there’s even Chelenham Race Course. Oh, Chelton Race site as well. Yeah, Chukesbury. Chukesbury. Yeah, if that’s pronounced right. What do you mean if it’s pronounced right? How else would you pronounce it? I don’t know. I think I’ve been told that’s wrong before. Yeah. So, yeah. So, have you got a favorite one in the area? Perhaps one we haven’t been to yet. Yeah. Yeah. That that would be a good one. People suggest a site to go to in the Cotswwells. Yeah. Perhaps perhaps for next year, I suppose. Yeah, that’s right. Yeah, cuz this year is soccer at the moment. It’s Yeah, it’s almost full up this year. Almost. We’ve got a bit of time off in August or time off. We’ve got a bit of time at home in August. We’re not actually going many places in August. Well, until 27th when we start our Denmark troop. Yeah, that’s what I was trying to say. It’s not not the whole of August. It gives us a bit of time to sort of get our act together for for Denmark and Yeah. and that sort of thing. Um, yeah. So, what else? Um, well, we were talking about Morton in Marsh, weren’t you? You’ve gone off on on a tangent. tangent again. Yeah. Um yeah, what what I mean what I’ve liked about it this time is that the path the foot path at the back of the site which you get to through the um freedom Yeah. I can’t remember what they’re called now. Freedom camping isn’t it? Something like that. Anyway, the the chalet the huts the where the dog walk is all that area. If you walk through there the footpath either takes you into the village and it’s a very short walk. It’s only about 10 minutes. And yeah, so we we met Brian and Sue when they were staying at the hotel. Then if you go the other way, you get to the arboritum, don’t that is quite a long walk and a bit. Yeah. Last time we were here, it was very, very muddy. So you and Allison did it. It was quite warm on the way back when we came back. We didn’t film much of our going going around with our friends. We just wanted some time with them. So yeah. So sorry you missed that. We I mean we’ve explored the Cotswwells many times before. There’s so much to see around here. Yeah. Broadway Tower and and the the railway. Um Brian and Sue were going to go on the railway, but they said it was fully booked up. Yeah. That’s the the one you can get on at the Broadway station. They were going to do that, but it was fully booked up. Yeah. And there’s so many in the town here itself. There are so many pubs, cafes, and shops. And there’s a Tesco’s extra. Not Tesco’s. One of the little ones. What are they called? I think they’re called Tesco Extra. Oh, they I thought that was a big Oh, no. Tesco Express. That’s it. Yeah. The the fish and chip shop is very good. We had We sample that on Monday. The cafe up at the Arboritum. You know, there’s plenty at from directly from the site, isn’t there? Yeah. So, you don’t have to drive too far, but if you do, you could stow on the W and the water and Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We love the Cotswwell. I mean, the only trouble with it, I think it’s getting a bit busy. It was very busy on Monday. Yeah. Well, you understand it’s lovely, but Bon on the water got loads of eating places. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s right. So, uh Yeah. I think I think that’s about it. Yeah. So, we’re we’re leaving here today. Yeah. We’re going to Nottingham. Yeah. which apparently used to be called Thornton’s Halt. Yeah, that’s how I found it on Mrs. Satnag, but it’s now the Nottingham Camping and Caravanning Club site. Okay. And it looks very nice. Looks very spacious and big pitches and Yeah. So, we’re interested to see what that’s like. And then, of course, we go further north, don’t we? Um to meet up with four other people, couples on a CL to ourselves. We’re we’re meeting up with the Yorkshire Motors who’ve sort of arranged this really. Yeah, they’re organizing it. It’s one of their favorite CL’s. Uh it’ll be Tony and Julie from the Gallivant in Galantes. Uh us Trevan. Yeah. Us. Yeah. Us obviously. Yeah. Trevan Sue. Trevan Sue and Kadak Joe and Sheila. Yeah. So it should be good. It should be a nice nice quiet weekend. So we’ll bring you a little bit. Tara will be there. Yeah, of course. She seems highlight seems to been with us forever, doesn’t she? I know T. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, then. So, we’ll catch you in that next one. Yeah. All right. See you soon. Bye then. Bye then. Oh, nearly. We did it. We did it, did we? Together. Why did we say or nearly? Well, because I thought I was a little bit binding, but Okay, it’s perfect. Okay. Perfect.

We travel to Moreton In Marsh in the Cotswolds to stay at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Site. We are staying on a service pitch on part of the site we’ve never been before. We are meeting up with some good friends.

  1. Hi both thanks for another great vlog👏🏻We've only just booked broadway for next week from the 5th to the 9th after watching you broadway vlog👍🏻. We decided to go to venture to the cotswolds in the caravan and broadway seems quite central for us to visit places from there. Thanks Emyr & Karen.

  2. Hi bob we’ve just had 2 nights at Conceige Camping near Chichester ,,,wow a private run campsite on the Rathcom estate ,bars from 09.00 and food on site ,,electricity 10 kw free per night then 2.30 per 2 kw ,,expensive but worth it

  3. We’ve been to Moreton recently in July and it was a great week. The facilities are looking tired but the footpath is, as you say, perfect for getting in to Moreton and the other way Batsford, is a super place for a meal and a walk around the grounds. A perfect base.
Hopefully, the blocks will be updated soon.
    Great vlog as expected. Thanks.

  4. Thank you Bob and Jenny for another informative video. I find your campsite tours very helpful in giving me ideas of where to travel in my motorhome. As a widow travelling with my dog Archie it’s been good to see what the approach to a campsite is like as I always worry about not being able to find the site. I do have a sat nag but it only takes me to postcode and that’s not always enough. Archie is no help with navigating either. Something I wonder if you could also include in your uk site visits is how easy it is to use public transport from the site. I try to stay at sites that have transport links or places within walking distance so I don’t have to drive my motor home too much. It’s always difficult to know how easy it will be to park anywhere. Looking forward to your Denmark adventures. Not brave enough to venture abroad myself but enjoy seeing your travels

  5. Love moreton in marsh site great being near the town and when you go in other direction there is a lovely garden centre walkable not far from site have a lovely time ❤

  6. I’ve been there. Love the Cotswolds. My daughter and I went to Hidcote last Wednesday. Don’t know if you have been there but dogs are allowed in. Lovely video.

  7. Glad you showed the walk through the public footpath,we walked on the road side path into the town and to the garden centre, so that will be helpful next time we go.👍❤

  8. I had an Aunty who lived Moreton- in-Marsh back in the day. We often used to go to Bourton. It was “undiscovered” in those days. Incredible how much it’s changed!

  9. Have you been to the “secret” nuclear bunker at Broadway Tower. It’s not big but we found it fascinating so much so we went to York “secret” nuclear bunker in May. Take care Gill

  10. We have been to that site recently, it’s so handy to be able to walk to the centre. I have been to Tewksbury some years ago, can’t remember much about it apart from I liked it there. We stayed at Chipping Norton site earlier this year which didn’t have a MH service point😮. The Cotswolds is such a lovely area though and we will return to M in M.

  11. Lovely site at Moreton and very handy for the local towns/attractions. One word of warning, it is on a busy road so for sleeping purposes it's best to aim for a pitch well away from the road.

  12. We've been to Moreton in the Marsh, lovely staff , but left early, due to road noise. The site was very busy and trying to find a pitch that wasn't ' reserved' for friends meant roadside pitches only. We have decided not to renew membership. We love Cotsworld view Campsite and pay £5 to choose our pitch.

  13. This was my favourite site but no more. Our dog on a lead was attacked by a dog off its lead. No apparent enforcement of rules. No restrictions on number of dogs per van, some service pitches back onto the glamping pods, unable to choose a pitch which means wacky races at 1300 and at busy times poor pitch choice, which may mean you pitch next to a busy road. Expensive fee site especially on bank holidays. The local CL is far better Pebbly Barn farm. Good points : Easy walking access to Moreton. A good walk to garden centre.
