What’s the BEST Indoor Activity in Jakarta on a Rainy Day

We are off to the Grand Indonesia Mall. So, there are like over a hundred malls, I believe, here in Jakarta. Yeah. So, it’s absolutely insane. It’s really hard to pick a mall, but I went to Chachi PT and it said that this is like the most interesting and most diverse mall. So, and there is a ton to do in Jakarta, but it’s raining and has been all day, so we’re picking an indoor activity. And what better to do than go to a mall when in Jakarta? Seriously, cuz there’s so many. So, let’s get to it and see what it has to offer. Let’s go. Makashi. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Oh my goodness. You’re the sweetest grab driver. He followed us and he said he wants to comment on my videos. So sweet. Like literally Jakarta’s people the nicest people we’ve met so far. Like people will go out of your way to help you and talk to you. But we just arrived at the mall. So let’s go check it out. I’m really excited. This mall is already massive and overwhelming. Um, you came we came in on the west side and it’s like luxury in the very first floor, but we’re heading down to the bottom to get food first. We were also told not to use our good DSLR camera or mirrorless, I guess. Yeah. So, we’re going to respect that and not get any cinematic shots. So, this is going to be a full vlog day. Hey, we could do cinematic shots on our phone. They did say we could use our phone to record. We’ll do our best. Definitely going to go to the dough lab for dessert. I cannot pass up a good cookie. Those are definitely my weakness. Like I wasn’t going to say anything. We were passing it and then all of a sudden Abby smells it and her neck about broke the way she turned around so fast. says food hole and then it turns into a grocery store. Maybe a buffet over here. Excuse me. Oh, there’s sushi. Logan, what? Yeah, but I think it’s like takeaway sushi. I don’t want to be eating sushi throughout the mall. Like a crazy person. Wow, it does look really fresh. Let’s um Yum. Let’s pop back out. I feel like we missed something or I mean it says Subway coming soon, but we only saw what? Two restaurants. That’s not a food hall. Yeah, I think it’s just a grocery store in the food hall. While Logan looks for food, I am going to uh go skincare shopping. I’ll be there in a minute. Well, that was really cool. We got to get a face scan for free and figure out what our skin is like. Mine is a little oily. And Logan, I beat him in skin age only by a year. So, we got some work to do. All right. What do we get? Okay. So, Abby has a list, by the way. I do have a list of things I want to get at the mall. So, I got retinol. Oh, show it off. Come on. Oh, I got retinol. Give people what they want. Sale. I got black royal black snail Dr. G serum. and my salicylic acid cuz I swear by this stuff that it has saved my skin from my acne. Amazing. It is. But we found out that downstairs in this west side isn’t too food heavy. Logan found out it’s more on the east side. So, I think we’re going to There’s more food on the east side. I checked Happy Cow for some vegetarian food. There’s two restaurants that have vegetarian options on the other side. One is uh Saigon something. So you already know that they’re going to have food. But uh we might just beline it over there. Do we want to do this whole thing? I’m going to walk around this side first. We’ll take our time. We’re not starving. So yeah, we ate our I think it’s just our routine is to go right for food. But we are going to keep adventuring this uh west side. Wa! Look at how tall this is. This is crazy. Look at that. Oh my god. Looks like there’s a Japanese restaurant up there. This is going to go on forever. And we have two wings. Two wings. Oh my god. And it’s connected by a sky bridge, so we don’t have to go outside in the rain, which is why we chose this on a rainy day. Okay. So, I didn’t realize that we’re going to get probably through these floors quicker than I thought. We just finished the first floor. Now, we’re going to go through the second floor. Yeah, we did the lower ground, the ground, and now we’re on what, too? Upper ground, actually. Upper ground. Uh, yeah, the footprint of the west wing is not very big. I think the footprint is much bigger on the east wing. So, we’ll run through this one pretty quick. All right. Well, that’s good to know. All right. So, one of the reasons I did choose this mall is because there’s so many activities opposed to the other malls where it’s just shopping. And this, for example, is like a paint forg guided workshop over here. Like paint by numbers and it’s guided. I would love to do this if we had more time. Oh my god, Sephora. What a great surprise to find Sephora here. Yay. Maybe we should hit Watson’s first. Well, Watson’s doesn’t have my eyebrow stuff. I know that for sure. So, definitely getting that. You don’t want to wait to see what’s left on your list at the end of the day. This is a big Sephora. Okay. Okay. Okay. I’ll wait. I’ll wait. We’re making our way up and I see Marks and Spencer. They just have everything. I wonder if they’ve got Marson Spencer’s food for what Logan calls my piggly wigglies or what I call Percy Pig, you know. And we’re only on the the West Wing, but for as small of footprint as this has, it has like the right stores. Like we put them all together, it would be these stores. Honestly, let’s go ask and see if they have a food section. They have to have a food. Let’s see. It’s in the back. Oh my gosh. Dang it. Marks and Spencers here does not have a food section. I got a little excited. Oh well. This is a really nice mall. I’m happy uh Chat PT told us to come to this mall. Yeah, cuz we almost went to which one? Uh the biggest mall here, which I don’t even know how to pronounce the name. The Chat PT was pretty adamant about not going to. It really was. We were like, “Yeah, but perfume. We kind of want to.” And Chuk’s like, “Yeah, but you really shouldn’t.” Okay, but we are making our way through this mall very fast on this side. Yeah. I think what? Keep going around this footprint. It looks like we maybe have one or two more floors above us. Okay. Okay. And then we’ll do like the over the street area cuz it looks like we need to hit each one of those levels. I know. This is crazy. And then we make it to the large side. This is a crazy mall. It’s really nice that there’s two in one. Do we know what time it closes? 9:00 p.m. Okay, I think we found the kids section. This is all little kids stuff. Not in our wheelhouse right now, but we do have a little nephew on the way. We do. Hence why we’re going back to the United States here very soon. We have to go meet him. I would love to fill a little suitcase with a bunch of clothes. Maybe we could do that in our last destination. Oh, in Bali. go home from Bali. They’ve got geni sushi. I wonder if they’ve got vegetarian here. Let’s go. Look. This might be the winning ticket right here. Let’s go. Well, dang it. Honestly, the Bali Genki sushi’s got it going on. So, I can’t wait to go back to that one. That one doesn’t have the vegetarian rolls that I absolutely loved. So, we’re going to keep looking for food. Making our way on up to Wow, I didn’t realize there’s actually like three more levels. Oh my god. We’re on level three and there’s three more. Those look really cool up there, though. Oh my god. Ooh, it might be food. You might have found the food. That’s exciting. This is the level. Level three is for beauty, salon, brows, like healthcare. A barber. No, not we’re not making this mistake again. Not in the mall. Not again. But the music is solid. We haven’t stopped singing this whole time. It’s a vibe in this mall. Wow. This is cool up here. Oh my god. We found all the food. Wow. Wow. And look, cookies. Is that cookies? It’s donuts. Dang it. Dozen. This is so cool. This is like giving like uh Italy vibes, Rome vibes, European vibes, industrial Gothic quartered something. Barcelona. Yeah, this is a really cool vibe up here. Super cool. All right. Well, let’s find something to eat. So, there are some fancier restaurants. Mhm. Then there’s some less there’s halal udon udon and tempura. Are you in the mood for anything food? Anything vegetarian? Baby death pancake. M I don’t even know what that is. Um, I don’t know what has vegetarian, so kind of anything that Wow, look at this wall. Oh my god. Sorry. This is beautiful. This is so cool up here. Ramen. I know. And they got a big menu. All right. Yeah, I’m not seeing any vegetarian here either. Dang it. I really want ramen to be honest. Look how cool the ceiling is. Oh, this looks like the food hall, not restaurants. Maybe we’ll better look for vegetarians up here. Yeah, cuz so far it’s been surprisingly hard to find food. Indonesia is pretty good at vegetarian food, but not on that level they weren’t. Yeah, I know. It was all like all you can eat beef. So, if you’re like a carnivore like a lot of our friends, then you would have loved that floor. All right, so we decided to get sushi for now. I’m probably going to find more food cuz this is not going to tie me over. It’s one sushi. Abby got a tomago takeover, which is egg. I know Logan’s gonna go to town on this. Yeah. Look at this. So, it looks like I got too much, but I promise I’ll eat it all like always. And uh we didn’t have to buy soy sauce and wasabi. It came with it. But we bought some on accident. All of this was I think about $12. Wow. Okay, let’s see how good this Delhi sushi is. And it sucks cuz Logan loves sushi trains and we literally see a sushi train across over there as we were checking out. Like, did we mess up? But to Aby’s point, we’ll probably eat again here. Yeah, we’ll probably be here for dinner. I’m going to dig into my tomago. Wasabi test. my rice fell. Wasabi slap. That’s good. Not bad. Not bad. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but for the price, I mean, the price is good. It’s expected. Yeah. We cheaped out a little bit. We were running out of food options. All right, let’s try sweet potato tempura veggie. I don’t know how to even I’m just going to get it. Pretty good. Pretty stale. No. Uhoh. But we might have found a bust. It’s not bad. Like literally it’s $12. I can’t be bad. Look at that. Yeah. Everything’s a little cold. Well, sushi is supposed to be, but the sushi was in like a freezer. Yeah. I see what you mean. It’s not great, but it’s not Yeah. bad. It isn’t like the best, but it’s eatable. So, it’s not something I would be like, “No, I’m not going to eat this cuz it’s so bad.” That was I I don’t think we’re recommending to eat here. No. No. This is one of those where we did it so you don’t have to. We went up to level six and it looks like these levels, past six on the west side at least, are parking. So, I think we’re going to take the bridge over and go to the other side. I still have some shoe shopping to do with you. Stay tuned. I’m sure that GBT is so right with how like picturesque this place is. It’s like Yeah, definitely Instagram. Wow, look at this view. King of the world. Wow. Up here, man. Look at that market down there. Oo, little street market. Mhm. It looks like that’s the other mall over there. Or is that the Grand Plaza? I think that’s a third mall. Wow. Yeah, this it’s so many malls. And that looks like another Is that a mosque or another mall? I don’t know what that is. It’s massive. If it were the States, I would guess there’s a movie theater. Oh, look. There’s a movie theater here. It’s the CG. Yeah, right there. Wow. This is a really pretty view. Well, let’s go down a floor. But we’re now kind of uh in the section of the mall that is over the street. So, we’re just going to hit this all the way down and then we’ll make it over to the east wing. I think this whole like sky bridge going to the other side is all food. And this food looks way better than the food we ate. Yeah. Now I’m seeing Saigon and I already know they’re gonna have vegetarian for you. We don’t know. Sometimes they don’t when they’re not in All right, let’s look at the menu anyway. Okay. Yeah, we’ll be back to eat then. There’s so many veggie options. As worse and worse. So much food over here. There is. But as expected, the Vietnamese restaurant does have vegetarian food. So if we get hungry again, we’re definitely coming back this way. So first thing when you cross over when you’re on level what are we 3A over here now? Yeah. So it’s all tech. I see a Fujif film. Fujif film. There’s even a DJI store here. They got everything. Oh, I wonder if they have hard drives. Well, there’s Samsung over there. We don’t need one now, but I just want to see cuz if they have hard drives and like Jakarta got it going on. I bet they would in that store. It looks like there is a like a whole tech store that way. But let’s go into Sony. All right, let’s do it. Okay, we’re looked at hard drives, built memory cards. Not bad. They just don’t have our Samsung. So, we did the right thing and got it when we did. Yeah. Thank you, Bangkok. I did just catch Abby yawning. So, she might need a coffee. Oh, I definitely need a coffee. Um, we are Where are we again? Fourth floor. Third floor. 3A. And we’re going up or down? I think down. I’m so lost on this wall. I know. Me, too. Should we ask and see if they have SIM cards behind us? Oh, a SIM card. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s look for a SIM card. Okay. No SIM cards in that store, but she said in the West Mall they do. So, we might head back over there and get me a SIM card today. But Logan wanted to stop at the DJ Dry store, of course. Always. Wow. How is it? The controls are a little different than I have it set up. Should I catch it? Shut up. Oh my god. Oh wow. That is cool. Wow. That drone is something else. And the Flymore kit is like around $700, which is not bad for a drone like that. It was crazy. It literally followed Logan, landed in my hand. You know what? We’re talking about this way too much for them not to be paying us or sending us one. DJI, if you want to sponsor me, please do. But that was really cool. I could see us getting that because it is much lighter. And then I wouldn’t be scared to fly it. Yeah, I could fly it then cuz I’m scared to fly right now. He put the controller down, hit something on the drone, and it took off from his hand and knew to follow me. Yeah, it wasn’t like he didn’t have a controller or anything. It was so great. Like controlling us flying is insane. I know. I also see another skincare store that I really like. Oh gosh. So Logan told me he’s starting to fade, but he doesn’t want coffee cuz he doesn’t want to be anxious and end up in the bathroom here. Yeah. So maybe we go shoe shopping for you now. Yeah, let’s start the shoe shopping. You want to start at Hoka? Replace them with the exact duplicate. You could. Hoka failed us. All of their shoes were like suede and cloth. Yeah. Not waterproof. So the foot locker we go. Foot locker it is. There’s an Adidas that’s up here that’s leatherish. Yeah, but the bottoms are so flat. That’s not for walking. All right. You know what I mean? Yeah. See, these are cool. This is kind of what I’m talking about. A lifestyle. If this is waterproof, then like sold. But yeah, I don’t know. Perfect. Waterproof’s tough. These have been so good to me. I know. treated them right. I know. All right. Aby’s telling me that Solomon’s are all the rage right now. I don’t get it. Oh, those are cool. What are they? I like them. Oh, thank you. I like these ones. Those are cool. And these ones up here. Oh, that’s all cloth. These ones are nice. I usually don’t like a name on it that big. Solomon’s are not Logan’s thing, but we are not short of shoe stores in here. I see New Balance, Puma, A6, Under Arour. So, we’re going to go shop around and check all the shoes that we can. I don’t know if we’re going to record it all just because it’s going to be overwhelming. Nope. New Balance doesn’t have it all out there. On to Nike. Well, we are not having luck for Logan. It’s slowly starting to start slowly starting to look like I am not going to get my shoes today. North Face looks like it might have some good shoes. You want to check them out? Do people buy North Face shoes? All right, I’m putting a request out there. If anybody knows, white leather shoes, waterproof, look good, not a lot of color. I don’t like big brand names and kind of like lifestyle. I’m not looking for like a daily runner. Walking waffle. Yeah. Then send it to me because I’m buying those shoes. All right, no success so far for Logan, but we just came to the conclusion that we’re going to be back in Bangkok next month and MBK is there and they have great knockoffs. So, he might be just getting knockoffs when we go to MBK. So, I need to get some skin care stuff still. So, we’re probably going to try to make our way to Watson’s and back to Sephora. And I still need to get a SIM card. Oh, yeah. Wo. They got Poland Bear here, too. All right. So, this is all the department, like not department stores, but like H&M, Poland Bear, Zara, Fast Fashion, Fast Fashion. The restaurants over here. They look fancy. They do. Ooh, I smell truffle. Ooh, I do too. You know, it’s fancy. So, there’s like a Uniqlo below us. I think every mall in Asia has Unilo. Above us, more restaurants. This is really fancy. Like, even the Escalades are different over here. This is super cool. So, yeah, if you’re hungry, just show up to the mall cuz they have endless options except if you’re vegetarian. Yeah, true. All right, Aby’s finally in her natural element, Sephora. We uh she’s over there picking out some makeup. I’m going to try to help find some items that I know she needs so we can make this quick and painless. Got my brow freeze and found my brow pen. Nice. Okay, so far I was a little bit of a success. I got everything I almost needed except for my rose hip oil. That is the hardest thing to find. I swear. But Bali, I think, was the last place I found a really good one. So, I might have to wait until then. I don’t know if I’m going to last. It was like 3 months. I know. Anyway, now it’s time for a SIM card. And I think that is the last thing that we wanted to get done here today. And it’s probably a good thing to wrap it up here soon cuz the mall closes in an hour. No way. Yeah. Oh my god. We’ve been here for a very long time. Like going on 5 hours. Okay, well that was a fail. Literally 3A is all food. I have not found a single SIM card. So we are going to go downstairs. I’m going to get my cookies, treat myself. We’re tired. And then I think we’re going to call it a day. These look so good and smell so good. Remember when you smelt these 5 hours ago? Yeah. That was fun. You’re so tired. Yes. One bff. I don’t know if I want the monster and the nationalist or the bride and the nationalist. Yeah, I know. I’m going to get one of these cuz it’s white chocolate and I like white chocolate. But that one’s a monster cookie. I wonder what’s in the monster cookie. Oo, this is a tough decision. The Duchess cookie. The monster. The duchess. Abby, get all three. No, no. Um, chocolate. That’s what I’m looking at. What’s the different? Is it just the color? Uh, color. Yeah. Ah, the color is just different. Ah, okay. And it’s fudge. Okay. I’ll get the pink monster. Anything else? I think that’ll be it. Yeah. Thank you. For $12, we got four different cookies and an iced tea. It’s not bad. It’s not bad for like a cookie spot. You know, I can make cookies cheaper. I was going to say if you think about crumbled cookie Oh, yeah. This is much cheaper than a lot of like the boutique cookie places that we have in the States. So, look at that. Oh, it’s a chocolate chip cookie inside. Oh, and it’s cookie dough. I’m going to love this. It’s not bad. Really? Mhm. Be not bad. Paid $12 for these cookies. It’s good though. It’s not bad. I told you I’m not a chocolate chip fan. Okay. It’s the outside that made it feel the outside made it taste cheap. Really? Inside was solid. Well, the inside was just cookie dough. It’s a cookie with cookie dough inside. Yeah, I’m indifferent about that one. This one is one I think I’m going to like a lot. It’s a red velvet cream cheese. Yeah. Mhm. Oh, yeah. Really? Yep. Do I like it? Yep. You like red velvet. Okay. Better than the other one, though. Yeah. I’ll give you that. Okay. They’re kind of grainy. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like I could hear the grains while I’m chewing. It’s cuz it’s like cookie dough. Raw. It’s raw cookie dough. Okay. It’s not all the way cooked through. Not what I was expecting. Okay. The scotch bay is the one that I think I’m going to love the most. I don’t expect you to like it that much. But look at that cookie. I got chocolate on my finger already. There’s even salt on here. I’m a big salted caramel type of person. Okay. Oh yeah. Yep. Really? That’s the one. You almost didn’t see that one. I know. That is the one. You want to try this one? Sure. I gave you the best bite. That’s the best one so far. Mhm. Now you want to try your chocolate chip. Bring it. The BFF. Oh, I’m so excited for this. Go ahead. If you want good tea, come to the dough. The dough lab. If you want good cookies. Okay. Careful. Wash your pants down. Okay. Okay. Okay. Let me try. Don’t do that. M. That’s a crunchy. I like that. I don’t like a crunchy cookie. I like that one. They said the dough lab, not the crisp lab. It’s supposed to be doughy. Maybe we should try the other cookie place we saw. I know. We walked all the way across the mall at this point. Those cookies were so rich. Abby had to get them to go. So, we’re going to take him home and nibble on them. We are now walking from between wings for like the fourth time. We know this mall like the back of our hand. And it is a nice mall. Overall, I would recommend coming here. I would say this is amongst of all the malls we’ve been in Southeast Asia, probably amongst one of the better ones we’ve ever been to. Even though I didn’t find my shoes, I blame the uh men’s shoe industry. Not this mall. But uh yeah, we’re making one more stop at a store that I like and then we are heading out. Logan’s favorite store. We can call it my favorite store. Really? All right. Maybe. That’s nice. What’d you get, Logan? What’d you get? I got what I always get. It’s the Ginro soju. It’s my favorite beverage. and I really want to go to South Korea because of it. So, one last stop. We were on our way out of the mall and Abby saw a better cookie place. And because we weren’t completely satisfied with those last cookies, we stopped for some more. So, Abby got what’d you get? Matcha. A matcha latte cookie and a pistachio melting. And a pistachio what? Melting. They’ve got stuff in the middle. Oh my gosh. Which is perfect because you wanted the matcha. You wanted cookies and now you found a matcha cookie. How excited are you? Yeah, I’m way more excited for these cookies. Are we eating this here or at home? Thank you so much. I mean, I got to do a taste test here, right? Let’s do it. Okay, look at these. They look so much better. Okay, this is the matcha. Look at those nails. Oh my god. I’m scared I’m going to get this all over me. M. Oh, that’s a doughy cookie. Yeah, that’s what you want out of this. This is the spot. Okay, this is the pistachio melting. So, there’s also Oh, those are your favorite flavors. I know. And look, they had a pistachio cheesecake, too, but I decided to go with cookies. Like, wow. That’s what we should have gotten the first time. Mhm. No, the endorphins cookies is the place to go. So, today was a very successful day. Even though it rained, we still got to go see what Jakarta is about. And I guess mall culture in Jakarta and I think in Asia in general is kind of growing. It’s a great place to come and escape the heat. It’s got AC, escape the rain. Yeah. Uh, and it’s free as long as you don’t buy anything, which we definitely did. But I think we’re going to call it a night because we have to prepare for our week work week tomorrow. So, this is a Monday. We did have Monday off, but it’s back to the real world.
