HYDRA – Unknown PARADISE or a TOURIST TRAP???

[Music] Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel. Today we are on Hedra Island. As you seen already from the title, we’ve just arrived here with the ferry. This island doesn’t have cars, so all the places that you want to see, it’s either walking or having a boat that takes you to different places. And the first thing we did, we went a little bit uphill. I’m gonna show you here. Down there is the port. I’m gonna turn the camera. This is the view from here. Yeah, I have to say this island looks absolutely fantastic. We chose to come here only as a day trip from Athens. In case you want to see more vlogs and what you can do in Athens, like day trips, you find everything in the playlist Greece. Yesterday we visited Aina Island. So you’ll find the vlog on my channel already. I think as I said today we are exploring Hedra. I’m very impressed so far. In order to get here from Athen can book the tickets online or if you want you can buy the tickets directly from the port. We chose to have this trip with Magic Ferry or something like that. I’m going to leave the name down here. It was €95 all together for two people return tickets. If we buy them from the port, like from the the ticket offices, I saw that if you book the tickets online, it’s a little bit more expensive. It was about €30 more for two people. Apparently, people use horses to carry the luggage of uh the tourists and not only that. So, here’s the harbor and right in front there’s like a fortress or something like that. And we are going there. And here is the museum of Hedram. It looks like indeed is a fortress on two levels, I think. And this is the view from the back. I don’t know if you can tell how nice this place is. I know in the video it might not look it might not show the exact view, but I’m telling you it’s very nice. So far, it’s worth coming here. Maybe even stay couple of days because there are lots of beaches. Well, maybe not lots, but considering this one is a small island, I think you have plenty to choose from. Even over there, I know you can’t tell because it’s too far away, but uh there is a ladder that goes into the water so you can swim if you want to [Music] be [Music] There are lots and lots of terraces where you can eat or enjoy a drink. Well, they said there are no cars on this island, but somehow some locals probably is the rubbish car or something like that. We went a little bit further away from the port. Uh we have a walk on this kind of road on the coast and we’ve already seen some swimming places. We’re going to show you to you as well. In case you want to skip the crowds a little bit, this area is amazing. Just from the port, just go further uphill a little bit along the coast. There are few terraces here as you can see, but no one’s around. And on the other side, where is the port is very, very crowded. Everyone sits there at the terrace. We might go later to enjoy a drink or a lemonade or a cocktail at the terrace as well, but for now we want to see as much as possible on uh this island. This is the current view. [Music] You can see Look at the color of the water. Looks amazing. There are only stones. So, if you come on this island and you want to swim, bring your water shoes. Because there are lots of stones and pebbles. We already can see another swimming place because I can’t name it beach because beach is too much to say. Oh no, it’s an Oh, yeah, it is. But you can’t see it from here. Here is a swimming place. There is a ladder in that area over there to go easily in the water. In order to go to this swimming place, you have to use this stairs. Oh. Are you going down? No, but the kids I think they just I think there’s someone over already already there. There are a lot of people because down. No, it’s very nice. If you look it, it looks amazing. Look at the color of the water. Definitely an amazing place. I’m not saying you should not obey the rules, but I’m just saying this is a nice place and it’s up to you if you want to come here. Apparently, there is a risk of rock falling on that area as well and here as well. We are going down to the port to have that lemonade to recharge our batteries. And afterwards, we explore the streets of the town of the town. The most wanted lemonade. [Music] I have to say this island is very very beautiful but there are some areas like this one and I seen a lot of them. I don’t know. It’s a mix of very very nice buildings with very nice flowers around and this kind of mess. [Music] Very lovely buildings. like at every step. It looks like all the island it’s under renovation or something like that. Maybe it got popular just recently and now it starts to develop. I’m not sure. Anyways, we try to see as much as possible from it. I love all these details with flowers colors mixed with white washed buildings. Probably here they renovate or something. I think that’s it with this street. I don’t think there’s any point to go uphill anymore because um there are not too many houses left on this street. Here’s like a small church or something. He has a bell tower. Two bells. [Music] And this is the oldest pharmacy on the island. I’m not sure we can visit it. It says it’s not allowed to take photos. I can see that sign. It’s closed at the moment anyways. Hello, sir. Because we think we’ve seen all the old town and all the streets that we’re seeing here in Hidra, we are going to stay a little bit on the beach as well. And we’re going to choose this beach. Don’t judge us, but we like it the most. So, we’re going to spend the next hours here. We have about 3 hours. And as we don’t want to see any museums or anything else, we go to the beach. We like this one because it’s wild. We don’t want to say to stay on the sunbed. In case you are looking for beaches with sunbeds, I’m going to leave uh here somewhere or in the description some names with the beaches uh where you can have a sunbed and umbrella. [Music] We finished with the beach for today. We stayed about 2 hours and before we hop on the ferry, we still have about 1 hour or something like that, less maybe less than an hour. Uh we realize we still have some streets that we haven’t explored. So we want to see them before we go and of course show them to you as well. That’s And the first thing here, as you can see, the street behind me, I’m going to show you in a second. This one, I don’t think we’ve seen it earlier. It’s like more like local, so we don’t go further. And right in front of it is this one with this tower that you can see from the harbor. It has like a bell tower. I think it’s a bell tower over there. And a nice nice whitewashed building here. It’s a church. is called Estles Museum of Hedra. Here is a tavern restaurant uh where you can eat local calamari and we have a street uh this way here. And I think this street goes to a residential area as well. I’m not very sure. Yeah, most probably. So, we don’t go further either. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Our [Music] day in Hijra is finished. Now we wait for the ferry to go back to Athens. It was an amazing day. So, if you plan on coming here, keep in mind to take your swimsuit with you because um like you have half of the day that you can spend here and let’s say half of the day on the beach or at the terrace to relax. So, it’s a perfect mix between relaxing and exploring. And this being said, thank you very much for watching and I see you guys with the next adventure. [Music]
