We’re going on a day trip to Reims, the capitol of the champagne region! 🍾

We are here in Berscie Park waiting for our bus to Ram which is in the Champagne region. We’re leaving here at 9:45 and we’re going to be at the bus at 9:30 and it’s currently 9:15. We’re just chilling in the park. We’re in a bus. So, here is a actual pool that you can swim on, descend, and it’s open year round. And then this one uh is one of those um send like swim in the sand pools. And I think they’re free. I’m not sure. And I’m really hoping we can get to one before we go, but we’ll see. We made it. We’re on the bus. And we’re going to be on a bus for 2 hours and then we’ll finally get to get off the bus. So I’m just going to listen to a podcast. I get a swing and There you go. It’s Kendra Pad. How was your tram ride? It was good. No bus ride. How was your bus ride? We just started. It was good. It was all right. It’s more comfy than a a plane. Not as comfy as a train. But it was fine. Yeah. About 2 hours. So, we’re here on Monday. And I’m thinking cuz it’s Monday, it’s pretty quiet, but it’s a beautiful day. Um probably more busy than Sunday. I don’t know. Hopefully can find some things that are open when we get into the town center. So our first stop in Rams after we got off the tram and had a little snack was the Cathedral NRA Dura and it is the coronation site of French killings for nearly 1,000 years. The construction began in 1211 on the site of an older church and it was completed mostly in the 14th century. It’s got um work going on through multiple centuries, which is why you can sort of see different styles in its architecture. The stained glass windows on the inside are absolutely breathtaking. The ones that are colored are just, oh my goodness, so beautiful to look at. And there are some more modern stained glass windows at the back of the church, which I recommend you check out. Some very funky patterns that are happening. It’s not busy at all. Uh we went on a Monday as we said earlier and there was hardly anyone in there. It was quiet. It was peaceful. It was very relaxing. It’s not crowded like NRAAM in Paris is, but it is just as stunning and just as beautiful and just as awe inspiring. So if you’re looking for somewhere to discover that isn’t NRAAM and Paris, then NRAAM in Mars is definitely something that I would recommend you go and see and visit while you’re spending time there. After the cathedral, we decided to do some more sightseeing. So, we headed to the Royal Place. This was commissioned by Louis the 15th, and there’s even a statue of him there in the center of the square. And then we spied the town hall in the distance. So, we walked towards it. It’s a beautiful building. I found these guys hanging out on the balcony as we walk past towards the port demar which is a 3rd century Roman gateway that was the entrance to Rams back in the day which was really cool. We decided to walk through the archway as the ancient Romans would have once done as they entered into town and then it was time to make our way back to the center of town. And on our way we found a few more sites which were pretty interesting. This is the market. It’s open on Friday. Where’s the market? Brew House. These are apparently like a thing that they do in rum. They’re these pink biscety things that you’re supposed to dip in champagne. Is a Sierella. That’s a cave. Build cave. Just a cool building. On googling Silier, I have since found out that it is a French for store room. So, I guess this is where they have stored various goods in the past and maybe still do. We continued on with our sightseeing tour, walking around the back of the cathedral, which looks just as stunning as the front, to our next stop, which was the Basilica, which is about a 20minut walk away from the cathedral, but I think it’s well worth it. So this basilica was built in the 11th century to house the relics of St. Remy who was the bishop who baptized Clover I was the first king of the Franks in 496 AD. So there’s a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture again because it was built over multiple centuries and it’s also a UNESCO world heritage site and again beautiful stained glass windows inside. After taking in all the sites that Rams had to offer, it was finally time to sit down and enjoy some champagne. The whole reason why we visited in the first place. So, this is the extra fruit. Vintage. No, just extra. Extra. Oh, yours is the vintage rosé. Vintage rosé from 2015. Like we walked into Disneyland, isn’t it? A little bit. Champagne Disneyland. Champagne Disneyland. Signature one. I think you need to try the signature one. Oh, is it their signature? Yeah. It’s been a really nice drink. Like without a meal or anything. Just sort of by itself. By itself. Yeah, very drinkable. Oh no, it’s finished. What are you going to do now? Drink your one. Look at this beautiful. So, we did the thing and we missed our bus. It’s okay. We have more tickets for another bus. It was a very expensive mistake and I do not recommend doing it. Make sure you always triple check what time your buses are leaving. So that way you can always make sure you catch your bus home. Here we’re able to get home. It’s fine. It all worked out in the end. And we both share the responsibility for not checking when our bus was actually leaving. But we had a fantastic time. That was really good. Anyway, we’re heading home. I’m going to wrap it up here. Come along with us on a beautiful day trip to Reims, France o(*^_^*)o . A city filled with history, cobblestone charm, and… champagne mishaps 🍾😅.

We started with a scenic bus ride from Paris, then explored some of Reims’ most iconic landmarks including; the stunning Notre-Dame de Reims, Basilique Saint-Remi, Place Royale, Porte de Mars, and Hôtel de Ville. Wandering through the historic streets, we soaked in the atmosphere before stopping for champagne tasting at Café Clicquot (yes, that Clicquot!) and the famous Taittinger House.

The day wrapped up with drinks at Place du Forum… and a very expensive travel mistake: we missed our bus home 🤦 . Luckily, there was a happy ending, but not without a lesson learned!
