Moving to PORTUGAL | what 3 Kids are Excited about
Really? [Music] Can we see Peter Pan? [Music] At the heart of every decision we make, including this huge leap to move to Portugal, are our children. They are the reason we’ve dared to dream differently. We want them to grow up surrounded by nature, not just screens, by animals and not just traffic. And most importantly, have us fully present and dedicated in raising them as happy children. We believe there’s more to life than rushing through the day. That childhood should be filled with freedom, connection, and curiosity. This move isn’t just about changing our lifestyle. It’s about giving them the chance to grow in a place where life feels slower, simpler, and more meaningful. They deserve a full, joyful, and wholesome life. And we’re ready to build it with them step by step. In today’s video, we find out how they really feel about this great adventure that they’re about to experience, as well as our usual updates of what we’ve been up to. Our hearts to the city streets. We begin to feel the fire. We rise like tall buildings as the chemicals they take us higher. The night’s young and it’s just begun. What’s the first thing you think of when we say Portugal? Grandma. Grandma. If you can only take one toy to Portugal, what would it be? Snow globe. Your snow globe. Where’s your snow globe from? Paris. What is your favorite thing about going on adventures with mommy and daddy? Um, going to lots of places and going somewhere new. What are you going to miss the most about our house? Yeah. Um, Millie. Oh, but Millie’s coming with us. Oh. So, you’re not you’re going to see her again? Yeah. What else are you going to miss? Some of my toys. Yeah. Like what? Um, like my teddy unicorn. Uh, what if I tell you you can take your teddy unicorn with you? Um, I would take it. Are you excited or scared about moving to Portugal? Um, sad. You’re sad? Cuz I miss Bets. See? Cuz you’re going to miss bits. Yeah. And are you scared or excited? Um, excited. What are you excited about? come to see our new house. Can you show me your excited face? Yeah. Can you show me your excited face on the camera? What new animal do you want to see in Portugal? Capy bar. Is there a capy bar in Portugal? Maybe if we go to the zoo. Yay. Boro. What are the top five things that you think about when you think of Portugal? Place um the water slides with the big um slides. Yeah. What’s going your main job when Portugal? Um the garden. Growing lots of fruits or vegetables. But that’s Daniel’s job. I can help him with Yeah, but that’s his job. So you can help him with his job for sure. But what’s what are you going to be in charge of? What are you going to be the boss of? Chickens. The chickens. Chickens. The capy baras, of course. And how many capiaras are we going to have? Um 10,000. [Music] On a scale of 1 to 10, how crazy do you think mommy and daddy are for doing this? A six. Oh, a six. Cuz I understand that you want to move there cuz of your family and I think you’re a bit crazy cuz it’s a big change especially for Ella cuz she’s quite young. If your friends asked you to explain our move in one sentence, what would you say? We are exploring Europe. Do you know how many weeks school holidays there are? Summer holidays there are in UK. One. There’s a one summer holiday. How many weeks? Oh, six. So, the summer holiday in UK, you’re off for six weeks. Yeah. Do you know how many weeks you’re off for the summer holiday in Portugal? Is it seven or eight? 10 1. Oh. Uh, 11 12 weeks. Double the the time. How did you feel about that? happy, excited. How do you feel about the fact that you’re not going to see your friends as often? Um, I’m not I’m quite worried and scared, but some of my friends are going to get phone numbers, which is a good thing. What do you think you’ll miss the most about England? Our house, definitely. Why? I we’ve just been living here for like nine years, eight. Uh and I it’s just familiar and I I just I just feel like I’m going to miss it quite a lot when we leave. It’s a safe space, isn’t it? Yeah. And um what are you most excited about moving into Portugal? Uh, probably seeing the new house or and making new friends if I do and learning Portuguese. What is going to be your main role once you have the new house in Portugal? Growing a garden. [Music] What are we here to talk about today? uh feelings about moving to Portugal. Okay. Do you want to talk tell us about that? Um qu I’m feeling uh I’m feeling quite nervous and like a mixed like mixed emotions but mainly nervous because I’m going to be leaving lots of lots of friends and family behind. I’m quite excited. Why? Because like it’s like a like like fresh start like a new campus. What will we have on it a picture? Chickens and our new house and our family. Uh if you could pack one toy for your big adventure, what would it be? Nothing. Why? Because um we’re going to do like lots of activities and stuff on the way like like sightseeing and stuff like that. What’s the first thing you think of when I say Portugal? Um beaches and family members. What’s your favorite thing about going on adventures with mommy and daddy? memories. So, I can like store these memories in my mind. And what’s one memory that you love about your adventures with mommy and waterfalls and all the hiking? What are you going to miss most about our house here? Um, lots of things because like we’ve lived here for a very very long time. If you could have a superpower for the road trip, what would it be? To make sure everything goes well. [Music] [Music] How fed up of each other do you think you’re going to be after spending two months in a van together? Really? Why? Fell up with him. No, I’m just kidding. Why? Um in the middle. I think in the middle. Is that where you going to sit in the van? Yeah. Yeah. And we can sit in the middle. So both of us are next. Plan your way. I just feel like we’re not going to get along. Why? I don’t know. I feel like we’re going to get along perfectly fine. Where do you think you’re going to get on perfectly fine? Because we’re going to have lots of fun and spend lots of time together. How are we going to leave the country? Very, very, very underwater train. Which one is it? Underwater train. Van van. The van is going to go inside the train and the ferry. And the train. There’s no ferry. Oh, it’s going to go inside. And the train is going to go into the tunnel under the water. Which is scary. What countries are we going to visit in Europe? Europe. Before we get to Port when we first arrive. France. Yes. Uh, Paris. Germany. Germany. Germany. What’s north of Germany? Belgium. Yes. Belgium. What’s next to Belgium? Belgium. And Luxembourg. Yes. What else? Lithuania. No. Portugal. No. Portugal is next. That’s where we’re going. Spain. So, by that point, we would have spent three weeks driving around. And two nights at Disneyland. Do you think after that you’re going to want to go straight to Portugal or do you think you’re going to want to go and visit more countries? Uh, I want to go to Italy and Rome and then go back to Portugal cuz I want to visit the Vatican City. How about you, Ella? Naomi, I probably want to go straight back to Portugal. How about you, Ella? Same as Naomi. How about Greece and Athens? Are we not interested in Netherlands? Netherlands is up high. We’re going to the Netherlands, are we? Yes. Do you think we could visit it in the winter, isn’t it? Can we see Peter Pan? That’s Netherlands, not Netherlands. So, what are you what is going to be the first thing you do when you get to Portugal? Sleep. Build a chicken coop and football. Oh, yes. Okay. What’s the first thing you’re going to do when we bought a new house? Or a garden. Build a chicken coop. No. Choose my room. I’m going to choose my room. Live in your own bedrooms. Yeah. Live. I want you to live over. No, maybe I want to sleep with Ella. Yeah. How about you two sleep in the same room? Maybe like a bunk bed. Me and Ella could sleep. Yeah, I want to have a bunk bed. That would be cool. There’s no one. I remember when me and Nar had a bunk bed bunk bed when Ella was in mommy’s tummy. What are you going to miss the most about about England? Home. Home, friends, and family. Friends and family. What can friends and family in England do? Help. Call us. Help us. Message us and visit us. Visit us. Visit us. Why can’t we visit? So hopefully once we found a home and we settle down every week we can have someone different coming to visit. Have you got any questions for mommy and daddy? From 1 to 10. How um excited. I think I am an eight of excitement. That the remaining two is probably nerves. But I think as soon as we’re on the road in the van having fun, that will switch to a 10 and I’m loving it. That’s very That’s very accurate. I think that’s how I feel, too. Yeah, I think so. I’ve got a question. Yeah. Uh what how how soon are we going to be visiting England? Like straight when we get there? Like in maybe a few months once we get there. When are we coming back to England? Well, we might be coming back to England for Christmas to spend Christmas in England. Okay. Because we’ve been invited by Grandma Mary. So, it all depends how things are going in Portugal. It depends if we have the money to come to England. Yeah. Potentially a blocker. When we get to our new house, what do you think the first thing you’re going to do is? I think the first thing we’ll do is have dinner outside. It depends when we move in. It could be December. We will still have dinner outside. I think the first thing that I’m going to do when we find a new house is going to be to go for a walk around the premises around the around the the boundary of the property. Yeah, I’ll do that. Get to know the land as soon as possible. I can do it with you. I can figure out where while daddy makes dinner for us to eat outside. Yeah, indeed. Indeed. How much chickens are do you think they’re going to have? Good question. Well, I think chickens uh lay an average of one egg a day. What? Only four of us eat eggs. One chicken every day. Excuse me. Get one chicken every day. Only four of us eat eggs. So, I don’t think we’ll eat more than four eggs a day cuz we won’t be eating eggs every day. But I’d like to give some to the neighbors. So, but then we want to have a manageable amount of chickens. So, I think maybe seven, eight, eight. Yeah, seven. Daddy’s face. I’m fine. Seven, eight. Can we have two chickens each? 78’s a good number, but we need to uh Yeah, I think that’s a great number. What type of chicken do you think we can have? Oh, I don’t I haven’t learned enough about chickens. Pretty chickens. Those furry hair chickens. Yeah, the one with pom poms in their hair. When I was younger, we had banttoms. Banttoms? Why did you have bantms? I don’t know. I think they’re quite regular egg layers. Um, and they’re quite traditional. I want to have different types of chickens so we can have different colored eggs. Blue, brown, yellow. What type of dog breed you going to have if we do have a dog? I definitely want a big dog. I would quite like probably what is called a which is a it’s not a place. Yes. is a dog that is natural from the place called Sarah Estrella, which is the mountains in Portugal. And they’re um like they’re not sheep dog, but they’re um like farm dogs. So they help protective, aren’t they? They help with all the animals in the farm. [Music] This week has been an emotional one. I have now completely stopped teaching swimming lessons. And after 3 months of not being successful trying to sell our home, we felt like we had no option but to change our estate agents. But it has also been an exciting one with the arrival of a very exciting gift in the post. And we’ve also started deciding how we would like the back of the van to look like and how we’re going to pack all our belongings and camping equipment. Okay, so the plan is have four of these 64 m boxes stacked up and then the two I took it off with the tent and the paddle board. And then here we’ve checked we can fit another 64 m. So we’ll probably have another four and then maybe three too. Leave space for um things like the water container and um the power pack. The power pack. There’s a few other bits. Cooking stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Stove things that we need to access really easily as well. Um and then we’ve put this net here where we can put our sleeping bags and pillows. And then excuse the neighbors kids. And then I thought if we can put some of these here. Well, we’ve got another ones that have got hooks. Actually, they’re probably a bit better. They’re in your pocket. Yeah. And then we can hang my car towels. So, here’s how the kids feel about moving to Portugal and some of the questions they had to ask us as well. We hope you enjoy that. Keep following our journey.
