The Side of Malta You Didn’t Expect | Mdina, Wine & the Blue Grotto
[Music] Welcome to Malta. [Music] Hello. [Music] Okay, let’s go. [Music] And today we’re going to explore Andina, the silent city. [Music] Welcome to Medina, Malta silent city. With narrow cobalt streets shrouded in an air of mystery, Medina will snatch you away from the present and transport you back in time. [Music] I feel so small around these gates. Like they’re so high and I’m just a bit human being. [Music] Most visitors to Medina pass through the beautiful Medina gate to gain entry to the city. It was featured in Game of Thrones. The gate represents one of the gates of King’s Landing. Yeah, my lady, but still too many. It’s 9 years since I set foot in the capital and no one knew who I was the last time I came either. [Music] I didn’t see there happened there. [Music] This beautiful city was founded over 4,000 years ago. It is the oldest fortified medieval town in Malta and sits on top of a hill. [Music] So really nice. [Music] [Music] Medina is called the silent city and this was originally coined when it ceased to be the capital city. It was once Malta’s capital city but this was moved to Vtoriiosa and now Valeta when this movement happened. Dina was noticeably uninhabited and was considered a ghost town, hence the name silent city. Wandering through Medina’s narrow winding street was like stepping back in time. I loved soaking up the peaceful silence, feeling the history in every stone, and just getting lost in the magic of this ancient city. Now, it’s so many people around. It’s good to go places very, very early to avoid all the crowds. Make sure you get early and you go early. If you want, you can enjoy. Actually, you can actually enjoy, do some pictures, videos, and just enjoy the quietness. We are going to Meridana Wine Estate doing some wine tasting. Visiting Meridana Wine Estate was a delightful experience. Nestled in the heart of Malta, the estate offers a warm welcome and a chance to explore its rich wine- makingaking heritage. Touring the fermentation hall, an underground seller provided insight into the meticulous process behind each bottle. Sampling their premium wines on the panoramic terrace overlooking the lush vineyards was the perfect way to conclude the visit. A truly memorable wine tasting experience. [Music] Okay. Number two. Thank you. Eco similar after spicy reminds me of something nor do you know sometimes you do like a teas like a Indian mix of teas like a chic and things reminds me [Music] Good morning. We are going to Blue Grotto today and for some swimming and snorkeling. €10 20 25 minutes ride. Let’s go see blue grotto. [Music] Blue Grotto. Quite of a natural wonder, the splendid Blue Grotto is a network of six caves boasting the most stunning views and clearest waters the Maltese islands have to offer. Absolutely breathtaking in every way. A visited the blue grotto is a bucket list must. The blue grotto was pure magic. Watching sunlight dance on the water, revealing every shade of blue, green, and even hints of pink like the ocean’s own masterpiece of color and light. [Music] viewpoint of Blue Grotto from the top. We’ve been inside there and now from the top. So hot. It’s not like I’m complaining. It’s just [Music] [Music] We found the cave. We’re hiding from the sun and the cave. [Music] We’re going to circle [Music] [Music] Garlapsi. Nestled below the dramatic dingly claves, Garapsi is a natural swimming pool and bay located in Malta. It’s known for its calm turquoise waters, a 40 m cave, and its stunning views. Perfect place for swimming and snorkeling. Our lapsy was absolutely amazing. It felt like we were hanging out with locals, tucked away from the sun in a peaceful cave. Snorkeling in those crystal clearar waters was stunning with breathtaking views of the underwater world all around us. [Music] Adrian is full. Come on. We’re sharing a starter. He’s full. Eat a lot of bread. I love here since 1964. I hope you’re all enjoying our multi food and our service. And of course, our musicians. [Music] Thank you for your support. Much appreciated. In Part 2 of my Malta travel vlog, we slow down and soak in the magic of this beautiful island.
✨ We began our journey wandering through the peaceful, historic streets of Mdina — also known as the Silent City. I loved getting lost in its quiet charm, narrow alleys, and timeless atmosphere.
🍷 Next, we visited Meridiana Wine Estate for a relaxed and informative wine tasting experience. Set in the heart of the island, it was the perfect place to enjoy local flavours and learn about Maltese winemaking.
🌊 Then it was time for some sea adventure — we explored the Blue Grotto by boat, taking in the magical light reflections and stunning rock formations. After that, we cooled off with a swim at Għar Lapsi, a hidden spot with crystal-clear waters and a more local feel.
🎶 We ended this wonderful experience with a fun Friday night at Ta’ Marija Restaurant in Mosta, where we were staying. The evening was filled with live music, traditional Maltese dancing, great food, and such a joyful atmosphere — a perfect way to wrap up the day.
💗 Thanks for coming along with me — don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you’re enjoying the journey!
