I Tried Every Thai MASSAGE and Here’s What Happened
It’s called a massage parlor, but in some parts of Thailand, that word doesn’t mean what you think it does. Behind these softly lit doors lies an industry built on fantasy, secrecy, and survival. This is the part of Thailand that most tourists see, but few talk about. Thai massage is worldrenowned, rooted in healing, tradition, and spiritual balance. But as tourism boomed, so did another kind of massage. One that offers not just relief, but release. This video isn’t here to judge, it’s here to understand. These are the types of massage services that operate in the shadows often openly across Bangkok, Paya, Chiang Mai, and Fuket. The first type is called the soapy massage, found mostly in larger cities, especially Bangkok and Paya. It begins in a lounge where women sit behind a glass wall, each with a number. You choose one. She takes you to a private room. There she bathes you. Literally, your body is covered in foam. The two of you lie on a waterproof bed as she glides across your body. It’s intimate, sensual, and yes, explicitly sexual. Prices range from 2,000 to 5,000. But next is the erotic oil massage. This one is more subtle. You book a massage, the oil comes out, the lights dim, soft music plays, but as the minutes pass, hands begin to linger. Sometimes it’s hinted at, other times offered directly. This is the erotic oil massage where the session ends with what’s known as a happy ending. These are cheaper than soapies, usually between 800 and 2,000 B. You don’t choose the girl from a lineup. It’s more discreet. Then comes the body to body massage or B2B. In this experience, there’s no barrier, no clothes, no distance. The masseuse uses her entire body, breasts, thighs, stomach to massage yours. Some parlor even market this with phrases like full contact. These can be found especially in paya. Some are romantic, others more clinical. It’s considered one of the most intimate forms. And yes, it often ends sexually. It’s not just for men. There are B2B options for women and LGBTQ clients, too. The Nuru massage is less common, but gaining ground. Imported from Japan, it involves a special seaweed-based gel, odorless, slippery, unlike anything else. Both you and the masseuse are nude. She uses her entire body to slide across yours. It’s incredibly sensual. There are only a few elite spars in Bangkok and Fuket that offer this service, and they do so quietly. It’s more expensive, but also more exclusive. Not all experiences are planned. In many regular-looking spars, a smile, a wink, a whispered offer can change everything. This is where the so-called happy ending comes in. You may walk in expecting a regular massage and walk out with more. It’s so widespread that some tourists expect it by default, but this isn’t legal and not every masseuse agrees to it. Some will get offended, others will offer it up front. It depends on the place, the mood, and sometimes even the tip. One woman I spoke to used to work in a soapy. She told me it wasn’t always bad. Some of us chose it, some didn’t, and that’s where the gray area lies. Some women enter this world willingly, drawn by the money and independence. Others are pushed into it by poverty, by circumstance, or worse, by people. It’s not always coercion, but it’s rarely black and white. Technically, sexual massage is illegal in Thailand. But unofficially, it’s everywhere. Why? Because demand never stops. Tourists seek pleasure. Locals need income. Police turn a blind eye. Everyone plays their part. Some call it nightife, others, exploitation. For many, it’s both. Behind closed doors, Thailand reveals a version of itself that few want to acknowledge, but many are complicit in. As travelers, I owe it to the places I visit to see past the neon signs and ask harder questions.
