What was my first 6 hours in KL like? KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA
Hey, hey, hey. Welcome, welcome to Laugh. Hope you are doing well, my friend. I am at Tansy International Airport in Saigon, Vietnam. I’m on my way to a new country. Really excited about that. But before I mention that, I want to give you a good tip. When you’re traveling, take along a travel vest anywhere you go. Um, just because some airlines have the weight limitations and they’re posted on their website with their carry-on. You’re allowed maybe one carry-on and whatever that weight limitation is. Sometimes a carry on is just the carry-on that you put in the overhead compartment. And sometimes there’s a the carry-on is the carry-on you put in the overhead compartment and your backpack combined. So, each airline is different and they’re not really clear on that when they post it on their website. So, you just never know. And this happened to me this morning, right? My u overhead carry-on luggage was compliant with the weight limit, but I had my extra backpack weight as well. They wouldn’t allow it. So, what I did is I would just take the stuff out of the backpack, put it in my travel vest, including my laptop in my back, and then I just put the uh the backpack into my my carry-on luggage here. And uh yeah, that’s all it took. So anyway, I am headed to Koala Lumpur, Malaysia. Super super excited about that. Looking forward to giving you guys the first impressions uh when I land. I’m checking to hostel. I think that’s my I don’t know if that’s my thing, but I want that to be my thing. This will only be my third hostel that I ever stayed at. All right, see you guys soon uh on the plane. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] All right. All right. I am here. Koala Lumpur, Malaysia. It’s pretty awesome. So, I’m going to head towards the um train station because that is the easiest way and one of the cheaper ways. There is a cheaper way to take a bus to the train to the city, but I’m going to take a train from the airport to another train and that will be easier and slightly more expensive. It’s like $13 and change is the route that I’m taking. Let’s see where I’m at. Okay, I found it. Got to take the KIA Express Transit. All right. So, we need to buy a ticket and I got to go to KL Central one adult. Proceed. So, the cost was 55 ringit. Let’s go. You want to be in the purple platform A and this is the express train. This platform B will take you to KL Central as well. But, uh, there’s a few stops along the way. [Music] [Music] [Music] All right, we are at KL Central and we have to head to the Montreal to go to Bouet Batan. I’m sure I butchered the pronunciation of that area, Bouet Batanam, but that’s the popular I don’t know if I want to say that’s a central KL area or tourist center, but it’s definitely uh an IT neighborhood to be. Where do I need to go? See how he hits the Montreal. But yeah, it’s like Grand Central Station here. No worries. We will find our way. Oh, there it is. There’s a help desk over there. Let me ask him some questions. All right, that was easy. Monoro is upstairs, so take that escalator up. There’s a lot of people here. It’s one of those things about traveling that people uh I was just reading uh friend of mine, she had an Instagram post where uh she was writing down, “Isn’t it scary to go go alone?” And she said, “Yes, but it’s scarier to not.” I just thought that was super interesting. Oh, let me get my luggage out. It’s scraping. Ah, there we go. And it is interesting if you are traveling alone and some of this um could be I don’t know hard to get used to, right? But if you do it enough times gets easier and easier. Oh, the word I was thinking about was daunting. could be daunting sometimes traveling alone, but it does get easier. And the Montreal is going down this way. So, you just pass these uh clothing kiosk and right in front of Sephora is the escalator to go down to the Montreal. Obviously, you may not need to take this Montreal if your stop is at KL Central, but I’m going to Phuket Benton. All right, where are we? Oh, here it is. The Montreal. All right, now we’re cooking. Almost there. to the Montreal. Okay, there we go. I think that might be the ticket booth right there. That’s that gentleman. Excuse me. Can you tell me is this the bon rail to Bouet Baton? Yeah, this way. This way. Thank you. All right. All right. Got my token for 250 ringit. Let’s go through. There we go. Head to Benton. We are here on the way to Phuket Benton. All right. Maybe I should hold on to this rail. Very cool. Oh my gosh. What building is that? That thing is huge. Next station. [Music] [Music] The instructions stated it’s to the left of the McDonald’s. It sure is. But if you blink, you’ll miss it. Man, that was heavy bringing this up. How you doing, brother? Yeah. I don’t know you. Good. Yes, I do. Let my passport here. [Music] I tell you what, Koala Lumpur is banging and it’s a weekday night. Check it out. Oh my god. A lot of activity going on here. All right, let’s see if we can get something to eat. So, my first impressions, um, I’m at Bouet Bang Bentang, which is, uh, like a a really popular area, right? And you could tell that it’s a lot like Bangkok. There you go. You guys don’t want to see me. It’s better to look out in the street level here. It’s a lot like Bangkok. It reminds me of that. Or New York City. A lot of hustle and bustle. I’m going to head to the popular Jaylen Allore Food Street right now, but there is uh activity everywhere. [Music] All right, let’s walking this side. Look at that. Very cool. Hannah tattoo action going on here. Wow. Very cool. Oh, it is definitely happening tonight. All right. Looking forward to trying the famous Malaysian food. Oh, this is packed. Very cool food street. Oh, yeah. This is crazy packed. This is what I’m talking about. Whoa. [Music] Oh, that lime juice is good. It’s got a little little sour sweet mix here. Oh, I like it. All right, let’s dig in. Okay, we’re going to try this. So, this is coconut rice. Oh, very nice. Subtle hints of coconut. This is lamb. Oh, yeah. That is tasty. That is really tasty. It’s like some uh celery mixed veg. Mhm. And I am not sure what this is. So, if anybody knows what this is, please let me know. At first I thought this was pork rind, but it’s just a chip. Tasty. Lamb is definitely very tasty. [Music] It’s obvious to try to um formulate an opinion in less than what 6 hours in a city is uh not going to be very accurate, right? So take what I say with a huge grain of a grain of salt. Um yeah, I like uh Malaysia. I mean, I’m sorry. I like Koala Lumpur. To me, it seems a lot like Bangkok and or uh New York City. It just seems really festive. Again, I’m only in a small part of town, Phuket Bentang. But it’s been pretty interesting. It’s been fun. Had some good food tonight. Been walking around. I’m on the more quieter side of the of the tourist area. As you can see, still busy with cars, but not as many people walking on this part of the uh of the street. But yeah, uh I did find it a little bit more expensive than um some some place like uh Saigon or Bangkok in terms of food prices, but but again, it’s only been a few hours here, so uh we’ll see what happens uh tomorrow. Hey, I’m checking out. So they got a little bit of Vietnam in Koala Lumpur as well. Very cool. So I hope you like my uh my kind of gut uh initial reaction from uh Koala Lumpur. Uh please like, please subscribe, please comment. Super excited to explore the city and see what’s going on around here. Check it out. Thanks a lot. super grateful and privileged that you’re watching and I’ll catch you on the next one. Take care.

I also stayed in a hostel and that video will be forthcoming. I hope you enjoy, take some inspiration as well as information for your first visit. Thank you!

Jalan Alor food street is a tourist trap. Those restaurants will squeeze every single drop of dollars out of you. If you want cheap food, go where locals hang out like in Kampung baru or go to any food courts at most shopping malls around KL.
Welcome to Malaysia.. your dish is called ‘nasi kerabu’ .. that is fish crackers together with other dish and famous food from East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia
Welcome to the under-rated city Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾
Btw, if you are new and first time or don't know how to eat/consume Malaysian foods please don't be shy to ask the seller or any local there,. Malaysians are friendly and helpful and most of them are English speakers, no language barrier in Malaysia , widely usage of English unless you're talking to migrant workers or outsiders..
Fyi, the blue rice is a Malay dish and you have to mix everything and then eat, that's the correct way and it's absolutely tasty.. Enjoy your stay in Malaysia 🇲🇾 🌺 🤝
What do you call tge fear of travelling alone?
Its daunting and stressfull. Thats me..😢
Too short and you cannot comment until you are here for a week.

bukit means breast, and bintang means saggy, so you get the idea
Welcome tu Kuala Lumpur bro..have fun staying here. Btw..that rice dish is one of our traditional dish. Its called..nasi kerabu. U need to mix all of it prior eating it. One of my favorites too…😊
10:51 That's not how u eat that. U mix everything up and then eat. U are not suppose to eat them separately like that. I wish someone had told u that. Then again, Jalan Alor is full of tourists. Locals don't go there. Even the restaurant workers are mostly foreign immigrants from other Asian countries
Love the travel tips. The travel vest is genius🤌🏽
I really gotta get one of those travel vests. My laptop and monitor alone are like 6kg
that thing was coconut flesh/meat (grated/minced/pounded/toasted)
What are the highlights in Bukit Bintang? What is interesting there? I am learning …
What is the name of this shopping mall where you were searching for the Monorail Station?
When eating Nasi Kerabu (the blue-colored rice dish), you gotta mix all of them up first. Mix all the condiments and the rice including the sauce. Very healthy dish.
Hey bro, Long time no see…Hope all is well…Ur bother told me to look you up…Great stuff brother.
Welcome. Enjoy your visit.
Brah, that blue rice aint coconut, its butterfly pea flower extract. You got the wrong dish, that aint nasi lemak but it is still a local dish
Kuala Lumpur need another place other than Jalan Alor. Its getting overcrowded
The blue rice is called’Nasi kerabu’.
Nasi kerabu it's not made from coconut milk.that was a serunding…
Do your homework well and you'll find great local foods at very affordable prices. If you need tips on where to find these spots. Speak to a local Taxi driver or join a walking food tour. You'll get to explore the less touristy places that will make your money worth the extra effort. 😅😊
The blue-coloured rice is NOT coconut rice. It is called nasi kerabu.
Cocunut rice is called NASI LEMAK
