THE END of our FRANCE ROAD TRIP!
[Music] In this episode, the SLOs’s drive Gina through stunning French countryside. They spend a perfect day exploring the shadow, but sadly it ends in tears. What a massive bang as we came around that corner. Yeah. So, come along with us and enjoy our adventures on France. Good morning. Good morning. What a beautiful morning. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Looks like it’s time to go. So, I will get uh Gina loadened up after having um a really really nice few meals out. We’ve decided to do pack up today cuz it’s getting quite expensive. So, Gina’s basket is full. If you have a look here, we’ve got uh salads in there and just another little bottle of rosé in there. Some the bottle of rosé in there. And we’ve got some zero Guinness I do believe for me and cuz for the drivers right just before we set out on our travels today. Um you’ve seen the weather is now absolutely glorious. Um it’s just what we wanted from France. So some top tips for you here. People often ask us how we stay cool in Helga when it is so hot. Well, we keep all the blinds closed. all the blinds and all the doors closed. She’s really well well insulated and that keeps the heat out. So, people often say, you know, open your open your skylights. Um, but we don’t because that lets the warm air in. So, that’s what we do to keep cool. But, we’ve also got a brilliant bit of kit. We’ve been sent the Eva Polar Eva Light Plus. Now, it’s not an air conditioning unit, but by golly, it makes it cool in here. Um, it was great for sleeping last night. Made it so much more comfortable. So, I don’t do the techy side of it. So, I’m going to hand you over to SL now, and he’s going to explain all about the Eva Polar Light Plus. This is the unit in question. This is your water cartridge, which just simply slides off. Fits on a little bracket there. Open it up. Fill it under the tap. Cold water. Doesn’t have to be ice cold. You don’t need ice in it. Locate it and drop it down. Your power supply is 5 Vs. This black ring here rotates to adjust your fan speed. And as you can hear and see, it’s stepping up. It’s 24 coming in. And coming out when it’s gone through the cartridge is 16. So we’ve got an 8° or 9° there. Look. 25 and 16. a 9 degree different. Press it. It brings up a menu. First one is a moon. Press it again when it’s on that. And now it’s gone into night mode. So you can see and it’s turned off the light. It’s come back on to press again the next one across. So you have to twist to go to each section and then press. Now this is the color of the lights. This is so snazzy. So now we’re on the pallet, the color palette. So as I turn it, it’ll go through different colors. Again, press turn. You’ve then got brightness of the light. So that’s maximum. It’s It’s light now cuz it’s the daytime, but and you can turn it right down. Um again your next one is the timer which you can set from a minute to 180 I think it is to 180. And the last one is the thermostat where you can have it on centigrade or Fahrenheit. And we want it on centigrade cuz we like centigrade. So press it, lock it in. So there you go. What a really good bit of kit that is. And our friends at Eva Polar are giving you a great 10% discount if you use this code. I’m pointing here because it will be on the screen when SL’s edited it, but we’ll put it in the description as well. Um, and you get the Eva Polar from Amazon using our code for a fantastic 10% off. Right, SL? I think we should head off now to Chat Darash Gayon, I think it’s called. Let’s go. [Music] We’ve stopped because we’re going to put the drone up. But Floor’s just shouted at me because I can’t manage a walkie-talkie, a Google Maps, and a camera. I’m not Superwoman. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] I’m going to be eating with flies for I thought when you were pulling off the road I thought, “Oh, this is where we’re going to have the picnic. Uh, under the trees. No. So, we’ve just arrived at Laros Gion. So, we’re going to head and look for the chatau now. But, we’re just amazed all of these places that we’re visiting. All the parking’s free. You don’t have to pay for any of it. Uh, it’s great. And look at this beautiful setting for our picnic later. Providing there’s no black flies. Sure. So, what do we say? Let’s me and Ian got it right. Me and Ian got it right. Shall we try again, troops? What do we say? [Laughter] Have we got to go up there? Um, I don’t know because there’s No, I don’t know. Well, there’s somebody up on top of there. The gardens are good. We like gardens. And then there’s that. So whether you do all of it, I I don’t know. Anyway, come on. You being in the gin, don’t forget you’ve got to earn your alcohol. Oh, we ain’t got any with us. Me have got to do best with N. So you two get up there. We’ll take a shot from Ian’s got his camera lens that will get you up there. Yeah. No, no. This this would have just been your your domain, mister. Not your domain. Absolutely. What does it mean? Watch your head. means what does it mean? Watch your head. Means a normal person. Person, not a shorty. Yeah. Oh, you can you can do it with your hand to a cafe. Don’t know. Oh, got birds in. Yeah. This [Music] Now we’re talking is good. Plumbing at its finest. [Music] It’s only cut out into rock. That’s a long way up. A long way down. [Music] Pigeon cave. Pigeonry. Keeping cellar in it. Is it? Is it pigeons? Well, it says here pony. I don’t know what that means. Oh, pigeon. Pigeon. [Music] Oh my god. This is really, really steep. Oh my word. Shitty hell. Looks like stem boys. This could place it at top for drink. Shitty hell. Shitty hell. Shitty hell. [Applause] Come on. Cuz [Music] for you pigeon, you can just fly up here. I wonder if birds get. Yeah. Oh my god. I’m a bit sleep tonight. It’s like a climber. This reminds me. This is the thing I’ll remember from this holiday. These steps. All these steps. That’s a long way up. Welcome. Welcome, Queen Anne. It’s not made for me though. It’s a bit big. And we’re off again. Oh, we’re near it. Top cut. Oh, yeah. I think so. You’re right. I can see light. Light be. [Music] Oh, you’re looking over there. Who’s burping y’all? That might be quite a few miles away. It’s quite every Miles is burping up from here. [Music] It’s like channel tunnel. We’re going down now. [Music] You’re not there yet. Yeah, but you’ve made it. You’re still alive. We did. We survived. Yeah. You have a bit to go yet. Still a bit. I’m confident. A bit to go. You’re young enough. You’ll be okay. [Music] Your head. I’ve just banged me head. You’d go straight under that love, wouldn’t you? [Music] I think you a false sense of security at this point. Do we come for you? Yeah. Yeah. Timber [Music] confessing. Nicholas, would you like to confess all your sins? I told you to confess and anyway, I can’t remember them. Mr. [Music] Wow. We’re getting as many as we thought of this to Oh, we are up on my legs. This bit’s overh hanging cuz telling him I’m being honest with him. So, keep close to here. No, it should still go. Do you feel like you’re going over, don’t you? No. No, this bit’s hanging as well. This bit push out tower. Isn’t it? It’s falling not down here. Oh, and now I’m totally re de I can’t even see. Yeah, but that dehydrated. But that’s one of the things that happens is your speech goes and you sound like you don’t know what you’re saying. Are you always dehydrated? You know, it’s all right. Don’t worry about me. I’m good. Oh, there. Is that the Is that the pigeon hole there? Look that one. That’s it. Yeah, we found it. Wooden roof. Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes. Made of wood, not thatch. Wood. So, this is the servant staircase. This is great. We’re going to go down where the servants went. Oh, they could peek through here. Look as well. and see the um the uh the family that they worked for. Look, you can peek through. What all stood pinking through window? Yeah. Look. Morning. So, we’re in three cellars now, which they think were dating back to the 15th century, but they were commandeered by RML um in the Second World War. And just looking at this board here, there were 1,500 soldiers and only 543 villages, which made this the most occupied place in France. Wow. What’s that? There. What is it? [Applause] Shiver me timbers that were amazing. That was really interesting. Anybody else? Yeah. Oh, sugar. I’ve got plates cuz I’m mind it dish. Wash it up. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] were a massive bang as we came around that corner. Yeah, actually when you came Yeah. When you came around the corner on the way there, something fell out. Something fell out. I don’t know. What? Thinking about it now. If you just had a bang. It’s not them. Well, that’s what I’m just thinking. Let’s have a look. There is some over there. I see. But some’s gone. Some’s definitely gone. They were right. Bang. Yeah. Hey, drive shake. Are they right out? Yeah. All of them? Yeah, it’s come off. Is that what happened when I were driving with Angela? Yeah. Can’t do any damage. They go back in though. Well, they’re right out. So, um, what? They’re out. You your drive shafts out. Have they come off or are the bolts just No, they’re sheared. They’re sheared. Yeah. Oh, we’re then, aren’t we? Need to get some new ones, don’t we? We’re going to get them from We We heard a bang, didn’t we? Yeah. I wonder we heard we thought something had come off another car and hit us. It’s not a very good place for it to be, is it? Well, there’s not a lot we can do. I’ll go put the triangle up. End of today. We’re in vision. Should we have IVs on? Yeah. Yes. Get your love. Yeah, I’ll get mine. Yeah. Yeah. I need to put mine on. Nicola, just don’t hold it. But if it’s going to go, I’m going to put the triangles out. Yeah, you get triangles. Sorry. Mine’s in the boot at the front. I need my i as well, don’t I? You need your i. I know. Well, I have to stand the You’re okay. I think it’ll be okay. Okay. Thank you. My hive is there. Look. Is there any way we can tighten any of them up? Oh, and we have his hand there. It’s all right. Don’t worry. How did you get them to this? Go like that. It won’t come out for bolts. hell. How many plasted years is that? Well, not used, but since we did that, let’s go get motor home and put up trailer and take her back. Right, boys. What’s the diagnosis? The diagnosis is It’s uh we’re in trouble, basically. No, we’re not. It’s a slight we have a slight slight problem in that the drive shaft bolts have just sheared and come out again, which they’ve done once before when the car was first with us or with you guys. So, what we’re going to do is go back to the campsite, get my trailer and one of our motor homes, shoot out, collect it, get it back to the campsite, and then we’re going to sort it out on the campsite. Well, listen, you know, the plan of going to the supermarket to get it manic. Yeah. No, you can go in the minute. So, we’ve left the girls at the side of the road with Gina, and we’re going back now to get Helga in the trailer. Get Gina on the back and bring her back. So, we’re now heading his way back with Elga and the trailer to get Gina. What a day. Can you see us? in the house. I don’t know. Yeah, we’ve got you. We can’t see you. Well, the cavalry has arrived. What a wonderful sight that was to see Helga coming over the hill. We’ve we’ve nearly fried to a crisp in the sun in baking. If you’ve seen in between us film when they’re in Australia, that one nearly me and Nicola, I can tell you. I’m standing in the shade. Yes, you do. Right. Right. Do we think that we’re going to get straight at it, Annabelle? We might need you. Yeah. to guide us. Okay. But remember, we’re coming up there quick, so you have Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s looking okay. Does that want to come over? Which way? This way a bit. [Applause] Six cars and one motor bike. Right. Ready? Go. about the end. And here we are driving along having rescued the girls and Gina. Um there’s Gina. As you can see, there’s the camera. She’s safely on the trailer. We’re taking them back for repairs. We picked up two hitchhikers. There they are in the back seat. two willing girls. We did watch uh Fred West last night, so anything could happen. You know, footage they use. Well, that’s different, is it? Oh, it didn’t work. Hey, that’s a different ass to normal. So, as you can see, the drive shafts come off. The bolts have gone. So, we’ve got to undo them out of it somehow. They’re all gone. And if I wedge that wheel up. Yeah. Wedge front wheel up. Oh, it’s smashed to pieces. That’s had it then. Have you got your spares? What? Spare one of them? Yeah, cuz you had one of them that weren’t damaged. No, I didn’t. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music]

What is the current draw from the evapolar? Can you use it off grid, or do you need EHU?
Awww, Ian is wonderful. He reminds me of me of a my late dad and one of his brothers. Who during my childhood, when we had caravans, once took an engine out of our car, fixed it and put it back whilst on a campsite lol. Those were the days. Glad Gina eventually got fixed.
What a pain in the posterior!! Still, it could always be worse, I guess you've got to have a laugh about it. 🙂👍🏻
I am a bit dazed and confused. Did I understand you sheared driveshaft bolts? Is there a diff issue or what has broken the bolts? Are they the correct ones? Struggling to understand how they would break!
That said, thanks for sharing another entertaining video, and it highlights the benefits of tag team when travelling with classics – that recovery could have been a nightmare with just the two of you!
Love the music french of course …lol 😆😂
I am always amazed at how energetic you are, with minimal pauses for breath, rest etc; or is this some clever editing?? Glad to see that the old British car had no issues.😏😏
Oo yipppppeeeeee Versailles is next wks omg looking forward to that .. yipppppeeeeee
When I lived in Singapore when I was a kid, fiat 500 were renowned for catching fire. I can remember my dad driving behind one while flames streamed out the back! Good luck.
