Finding Your Perfect Beach in Corsica (2025 Travel Guide)
Corsica’s beaches have a legendary reputation. And I can tell you that it’s 100% deserved. The water really is that queer and the sand really is that fine. But the real magic of this island, the thing that I really fell in love with is the variety. For every type of traveler, there’s a perfect type of beach waiting. So today, forget about just finding a beach. We’re going on a tour around the island to find the right beach for you. From the effortlessly perfect to the wild and adventurous. I’m Ronny and my travel style can be a little intense. I like to see it all, do it all, and experience everything that a place has to offer. So, if you’re up for a really immersive travel experience, you’re in the right place. [Music] Let’s start with the spots for when you want maximum beauty with minimum fuss. The kind of beaches you can almost drive right up to. Oh wow, it’s beautiful. So this is Santa. Santeuila, is that what it’s called? It’s Santaa, but in French. It’s an incredible shallow lagoon. And what’s really unique is this narrow strip of sand that separates the turquoise sea from the freshwater lakes just behind it. It’s like two worlds sitting side by side. It’s just an amazing place. So, this part of it’s getting a bit of a teier. A few um beach club bar restaurant things. They’re all filling up, but the bit at the far end. Still looks pretty quiet. [Music] Nearby is plagen. Another fantastic option with that same swimming pool clear water. All watched over by a historic Ginwise Tower. It’s a great example of that classic easy access Corsican beachside dream. For a slightly different feel, there’s Splash de Pinarello. It’s this huge sweeping bay backed by a gorgeous pine forest which smells incredible in the afternoon sun. has a bit of a village feel with restaurants right on the beach making it perfect to spend the whole day there. [Music] Now for the places that reward a little bit of curiosity. The spots where a short drive or walk reveals something pretty special. [Music] In the Ajax area, you’ve got Plaza Portico. It’s a brilliant long stretch of sand with great sunset views over the bay. It’s the perfect vibrant starting point to explore this bit of the coast. But just around the headland, you’ll find the Isoella Peninsula. The real star for me here is the Henu Tower standing guard. [Music] While there are some sandy spots, I spent most of my time just exploring the rocky coastline. It’s brilliant for clambering around the granite formations and finding your own private little corner of the Met. But we’re going to go and find another beach that’s apparently the best one on the island. If you’re near Portio and don’t mind a bit of a walk, then discover Platagio. You leave the car by the road and take a 15 to 20 minute walk through the Makis scrub land. Your reward is this absolutely stunning sweep of perfect white sand and impossibly turquoise water. Uh really it’s a beautiful beach. You’ve got to make a little bit of an effort to get here, but yeah, not too many people have made the effort to come down. So you end up with all of this mostly to yourself. The water’s so shallow as well. You can walk out really far. You can see with the color of the water how far you can walk out. [Music] Up in the north of the island, the beaches have a totally different character. This is PL demo. It’s a huge open stretch of sand that can get quite windswept, giving it a much wilder feel than the sheltered southern coes. Right at the end of the beach, you have the lovely little town of Ale Hola, which is a 16th century fortress jutting out into the sea. It’s a nice place to grab a coffee after a walk along the sand. For a place that feels like a bit of a secret, there’s plagu. The drive down is on a steep narrow road which might put some people off. In fact, when I came down, I had the entire place completely to myself. Watching the sunset from here though, completely alone, was pretty special. Another spot with incredible sunset views is Plato. I found this wasn’t so much a sail in the sand kind of beach, but a brilliant place for a walk. The coastline is really rugged and dramatic, and there are a couple of great restaurants right there. So, you can have a wander along the coast and then settle in for dinner as the sun goes down. And nearby, for pure undeveloped tranquility, plagulu is hard to beat. Its Corsican name means little pond, which tells you everything about its calm, sheltered nature. It’s a bit of a walk to get to. That’s precisely why it feels like such a special authentic escape. [Music] So, from the easygoing, perfect lagoons to the rugged coasts that demand a bit of an exploration, Corsica’s beaches really do have it all. Choosing a beach here isn’t about avoiding anything. It’s about choosing your adventure for the day. And hopefully now you have a better idea of which one might be right for you.
