Zakynthos Town Walkthrough – Best things to do, eat and see | July 2025 | In Our Case

Hi friends, welcome back to the channel. If you’re coming to Zanti, you don’t want to miss out on the island’s capital, Zanti Town. Join us as we take you for a walk through town to show you the best things to do, see, and eat. [Music] So, we’re starting at Bali Viewpoint. It’s located high above Zanttown and it gives you the perfect view down across Zanttown, the port and actually right the way over the island as well. There are a number of ways to get here and actually every single place that we mention in this video we will link with a Google Maps link in the description below. You can drive up here obviously there are cars around here. You can get the fun train up here and if you’re feeling brave you could also walk up here as well. Fun Train is a really really great show. Take a look at the card above and in the link below because we took the fun train all the way around here a few months ago and it was brilliant. As the title suggests, Bali viewpoint. It is one of the best views across the whole of this island. It’s great to come up here in the evening uh to get the sunset views. Although the sun will set actually behind you when you’re looking that way, the colors and the view across this place is beautiful and also of course the lights of the night. But one of the best views from this viewpoint is of course during the day because you can literally see everything. We would just recommend avoiding here in the midday sun. Regardless of when you do come up though, there are bars, cafes, tiveras up here where you can get your refreshments or even a full meal. There’s a few main points of interest here. Firstly, the actual church, Bocali church. Absolutely beautiful in there. We actually filmed a wedding in there. It’s stunning inside. And as we walk away from there, you’ve got a few restaurants dotted either side, and there’s also a castle up top. [Music] Right now, it’s quite unseasonably windy. However, it’s real restbite for the locals here cuz we’re currently July the 23rd and we are into well and truly into our third heat wave of the season. Highs of 45, lows of literally 30. [Music] So we are now in Zanti town. We have driven down. It’s about a 5-minute drive down or you can walk down from the viewpoint. It is obviously downhill. Now, there are numerous ways to get to Zanty Town. You can either drive in, you can get the fun train, you can get a taxi, or you can also get a local bus. Local buses. I’m not too sure of the times. There is a timet, but it’s on Greek time. So, if you are driving in, you can park anywhere. You can basically find a parking space. Parking in town is notoriously difficult. It’s on street parking. It’s free parking. Although there are two car parks that I know of that you can pay to um to park there, but on street parking is free. It’s just a bit of a pain in the bum trying to find a space. We always recommend to come down to the harbor because you’re more likely to get space down here. So, we’re now going to take you on a little bit of a walking tour. If you’ve watched any of our content we put up during the winter, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s where we basically walk around, show you places, and talk about them. So we are actually going to start off at the main point in Zanti town, Solomon Square, which is right opposite the harbor. Right opposite that port is Solomon Square, one of the main meeting points here in Zanti. And actually right at that point between the port and S square is actually the main terminus for the fun train. And actually if you go back up the way we’ve just come down from Macalli, which is round this road up round to the left hand side, that takes you to the outdoor cinema, which is obviously only open during the summer. And if you look over to my right shoulder, that right there with the flags on top is the indoor cinema. Open all year round. Selma Square is a great place to just sit and watch the world go by. The whole place is surrounded by bars, tiveras, restaurants. There’s even a bisonantine museum here. So that cinema doubles as a bar, restaurant kind of cafe place as well. And as we continue up here, it takes you to some more tiveras and eeries all the way up towards IO Marcus Square. [Music] So we are here right at the beginning of St. Mark Square which is right behind me. But if you just look down this little road here, there are so many cute little shops here. Yes, you will get most of your typical tourist shops here that you get in say your resorts. But there’s something a little bit different about town. You will always find really unique gifts. So, if you’re looking for like presents to take home, I recommend getting your presents from town because there are some shops like this that are just amazing. [Music] And there are some really nice clothes shops as well. Quite expensive, but really gorgeous clothes shops. One behind me is just amazing. [Music] Aas Marcus Square contains cafes, restaurants. It’s a gorgeous church by the Diana Hotel and there’s a museum dedicated to the poet Dianis Solomus and other notables. The Zanti town of an evening. It really is something special. It’s just got a little bit of charm about it. It’s traditionally Greek. It’s very like old Greek and it is just I think it makes for a lovely evening out. So, we are here now at the beginning of the walking street. So, this main street behind me is where you’ve got all of the shops, all of the cafes, all the little boutiques, loads of gift shops. We’re going to take a walk up. I am going to stop and show you little places that are just off this main street as well, cuz you have these little roads going off and that have got some little hidden gems. But behind me before we start is one of the best ice cream shops I think you will ever come across in Zanti. So this place actually has a ice cream truck and they are at weddings that we film and we just cannot help helping oursel to the mango ice cream. So if you’re in Zanti town and you’re looking to cool down, get yourself over there for a scoop of the finest ice cream. So Emma referred to it as Walking Street. You can tell she’s she’s still in Thailand. Uh if you haven’t seen those, by the way, have a little look in the description. We did a whole month in Thailand. This is actually known as 21st Street. This runs all the way from the square behind me that we’ve just been to all the way up to Alexandra Roma. We’ll give you a heads up when we actually get there. But off here, as you can see, there’s so many little eeries, bars, restaurants, and there are so many little boutiques, gift shops. In fact, this street and Alexander Roma together kind of form one of the main places that locals will go to to get pretty much anything other than from like big department stores, of which there’s like one or two on the whole island. So, as we said, when you’re walking up the main streets, don’t forget to go into the side streets because you have got gems of places that are just great and well worth a visit. [Music] So town is full of loads of little quirky places like this place here, Bliss. They serve cocktails and coffees on the most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat on. So this to the right is one of our council buildings. Not too sure what it is, but if anyone knows, let us know. In the winter time, there was some strikes on outside there. There was protest going on right here. Protest. Sorry. Yeah. Not sure. And there was also announcements for the elections that were going on here as well. Yeah. We’re going to take a little detour now off the main roads because we need a glass of wine. We’ve never actually been to this place before, but we’ve heard people say it’s amazing. So, we’re going to go and check it out because if you have watched any of our previous vids, we may have mentioned that we like our wine and the wine here in Greece leaves a lot to be desired. So, apparently this place has got a pretty good range. So, we’re going to go and check it out. [Music] So, I actually got a Greek wine. Now, don’t kill me. I know what I said, but this is a guttina. And I love a guttina. Usually, I get Austrian ones, but this is Greek. So, let’s give it a go. Oh god, I haven’t tasted that for so long. It is so good. Let’s move back to the UK so I can get some decent wine. Okay, let’s move to Germany or Austrian. And I got a Chile and Malbeck and that is just absolutely Yeah. So, uh, confession time now. We had another one. I know we were filming a tour around town, but the wines were too good. So yeah, after two wines each and two sets of nibbles, we were out and about and back on our way. So just a little note, if you’re looking for a really good year or Sudlaki, place behind us is amazing. We actually came here in our I think it was our October trip. We came here on like a fat finding sort of mission and we went and sat here and had the best year. Um, and Adam was sat on a seat that was really low and it was quite the funny. Um, but yeah, check out here cuz it is a really good place as you can tell cuz it’s absolutely chopper. So, after a little detour and seriously, those wines were absolutely beautiful. We’re back up towards the government building that we just mentioned when it was light and we continue. Look this way. [Music] Tasty Corner is a popular choice for locals who are wanting like a coffee or also they do some really good like baked good like traditional like Greek pastries and stuff. That place is the place to go. Continuing up this bit and it’s such a it’s such a lovely feel especially this time of year cuz it’s it’s what it’s now 10 9 at night. It’s still very very comfortably warm. Uh maybe a little bit too warm, but it’s just it’s just a lovely lovely feel around town. And as you would expect, all the shops are still open. If you’re in the market for a banging burger, then Burger Hood is the place to go. Honestly, one of the best burgers we’ve had on the island. Absolutely phenomenal. Hello. Hello. We’re going to take a little detour off here. But before we do, uh, one thing I remember when we first uh, ate here at Burger Hood is they actually had a post about this red red table and chairs. I think it’s so so lovely. The red table and chairs was always the place where the staff took a break. So, if you ever see the red table and chairs next to Burger Hood with a sigy in the ashtray, that’s because that’s where they take their breaks. May the source be with you. It’s genius, isn’t it? Hunto Center is the place to go. It’s like um Greek’s version of Boots, maybe Superdrug, but it’s overpriced as all beauty things are here in Greece. So, if you’re looking for last minute essentials, get yourself to the Honda Center. Or if you want a better price, go to the mainland. In the Facebook at times, we get people commenting saying, “Where can I get a screen repaired? Where can I get a new battery for my phone? I’ve forgotten my AirPods. where can I get some Bluetooth headphones, all that kind of stuff. Uh charging cable for their phones. I crack. Uh they’ve got a number of places. Uh oh, they got a number of these places dotted around the island. This is the main one here in the island. I do know of a certain bar owner, Harris from Auana, who burnt out the sensor on his camera because, you know, he was filming stuff with lasers. He got his sensor prepared in there for about €150. Good price. So, as we get to this point, we’re actually going to pick up on this road a little bit further on cuz we’re going to take a little detour over to the left cuz we got a few things to show you. But, as you can see up there, there’s still more bars, little tiveras, and predominantly shops and boutiques. But left here, we’ve stepped over one road and we’re getting back down towards the front. And here is 34. Now, this is a great bar. Uh this is frequented very much by locals especially in the winter. They’ve got an outside bit and an inside bit. One main thing of note for me at least is they have mamos on draft. Mamos if you don’t know is a beautiful laga. It’s brewed. It’s a pillzner and it’s brewed in Patrus on mainland. So much better than uh than Mythos. And yeah, they have that on draft here. They have outside and inside and it’s just such a lovely bar. Cocktails. Oh, and they do cocktails. That’s really important. Are they Are they good cocktails then? Uh, yeah, they are actually. Yeah, great cocktails. As you can see, looking through here, there’s very few tourists. It’s mainly locals. [Music] So when you’ve passed 34, you turn right and you carry on straight down and you will come to Staff Moss. Staff Moss is legendary here in Zanti. It is one of the best places to eat. It used to be a bus station or a coach station years ago. It’s just phenomenal. If you’re looking for traditional Zakinthian cuisine, then Staff Moss is the place to go. [Music] So, I was actually going to talk to you guys about Bitters, but it looks closed. And actually, I came here last year, like last October, and it was closed as well. So, I don’t know what’s going on. If you can find it open, it’s well worth a visit. It’s a cocktail bar. It’s phenomenal. It is a really good place. But anyway, let’s carry on up to the main roads. So that joins us basically where we left you on the main road, Alexandra Roma. And we’re going to continue going straight down there. So over to your right as you’re joining the main roads, you have one of the car parks that we were talking about before we did say there are a number of places in Zanty Town that you can um park at that are chargeable. So that’s one there. And actually it is really close to one of our favorite coffee bars, Monk. Monk is a great place. If you’re if you haven’t yet experienced a Fredo cappuccino or a Fredo espresso, then I suggest you do so. It’s what we all drink here in Greece. It’s basically a cold coffee, but it’s a cold coffee unlike anything else. It really is phenomenal. So, yeah, we recommend you try it out. So, we just went to the right, which was our left at the time, down there. We’re going to continue up on the same street. So even though we’re a very small island here, there are a number of names of nodes. You’ve got Replay, you’ve got Diesel, there’s a few of those kind of stores, but generally the kind of clothing stores that we have here, either small independents or the kind of collective ones, you know, like the likes of, I don’t know, UGC or something like that will be, but maybe not in that price scale. So, if you’ve seen the video we did in the winter of Carnival, we were actually stationed right over here to the right hand side. And you know, with with that in mind, Zanti does we say it closes for the winter. And it does like most of the the hotels and uh Airbnbs and all that, they do close for the winter, but there are some that stay open. Number places in Kalamaki, there’s uh the apartments. What are they? Dennis apartments. Dennis apartments. They stay open for the winter. So if you ever fancy being here and joining us right here for carnival one, March, April, whenever it decides to happen that year, come on over cuz the island is open. It just may not be as open as you used to. So we’ve just come up this way now. We’re going to now leave the bit that’s fully pedestrianized and we’re now going to go through this little bit which is quite the melee of a junction. uh find your way across this and we’re going to continue up this way. So, there are loads of shops here, clothes shops, etc. This little stretch of roads has got loads to offer. It really does get quite busy during the day. So, if you’re looking for some like outfits or you want a little look around at what Zanti has to offer shopwise, then this is the place to head to. [Music] So, at this point here, the road actually splits in two. And we’re going to take you down a little side street. Surprise, surprise. And I’ve had my eye on this place for so long. It’s a little restaurant and it puts its menu up every single day. And every day it changes to what’s in season or you know what they’ve got available. And basically when they’ve stopped selling no basically when they’ve sold out they stop selling the restaurant closes. So it’s down here. So hopefully it’s open and we can show you it in a little bit more detail. Also, um, we’re passing Street Dog as well, which is a really good place, another good place to get a year from or a hot dog. So, here’s the place I was talking about. I can’t remember the name of it. I’m not going to lie. It’s over to the right hand side. There’s people sat out. So, hopefully, let’s go and check it out. [Music] I’m so excited. Oh, guys, I’m so excited. They managed to squeeze in us into this little tiny table. It’s filled with like locals, Greeks. It’s amazing. So, okay, he’s just brought over the menus and crossed quite a few things off. So the things he’s crossed off are musaka, homemade tomato soup, anchovies, split pea puree, grilled pork belly, and calamari. But that’s okay because we’ve still got loads to choose from. So let’s go. [Music] So guys, I always think that when you come to a restaurant, it’s always good to order a dish that is quite simple because I think that really shows off how good the restaurant is. So I got lentil soup starters and it is incredible. like a lentil soup. Like how wrong can you get it? How right can you get it? Like that was amazing. So beefy, so deep in flavor. Really was fantastic. And Adam absolutely adored his Adam absolutely adored his daughter as well. He had the sagaki. Sam has gone for for the uh the lamb. I’ve gone for the beef stew. I also ordered a portion of fries of mine. And it’s simple. Do you know what I mean? There’s no there’s no overly like floury bits or anything. There’s no added anything. Mine is with fries cuz I ordered with fries. Emma’s lamb is with potatoes because that’s how it’s been cooked. It’s as simple as that. We just finished at our amazing restaurant. I had the lamb for mains and Adam had the beef stew and it was phenomenal. Oh my god. Like literally haven’t tasted food that good in town ever. Like restaurants like that you don’t usually get in town. Like those restaurants are saved for like locals and they’re usually like to burners up in the hills and stuff, but that place just like Safos amazing. So we’re carrying on straight down that road and we’re going to join the harbor road now and head back towards the car. So basically what we’ve shown you tonight is a loop. We would have liked to take you a little bit further to the right hand side which was the DNA church which is a Greek Orthodox church. If you have enjoyed this type of content from us guys, we love to film this stuff. So if you look on our library on our playlist, there is loads to see there. So check it out. If you get a chance, do go and check out uh the church because it is literally amazing. It’s honestly, it’s incredible to see. We are cutting our walk short. We were going to bring you out down by the church, but alas, we’re not doing that. Anyway, if you ever try to cross a road in Greece, you need to have balls of steel. We’re going. We’re going. This is not Thailand. They will not stop. Wow. Anyway, we’re by the harbor. [Music] There’s Manu over to your left hand side. So they’re pretty close. Madison’s and Manu and to get your bearings over to the left hand side. We are back at Solomon Square. So guys, we are back to where we started. We hope you’ve enjoyed this. We hope it’s been helpful. If you’ve ever been to Santi Town and you loved it, tell us all about it in the comments below. Take care and we will see you on the next one. Good night. Bye. See you.
