🇫🇷 Exploring the French Coast as Female Solo Traveller

Rain was not on my bingo card for today! Let’s have some coffee before worrying about the rain! Can you tell that I am going on a summer holiday? Luckily the rain stopped as soon as I left the house Paris is still asleep Casual parisian jaywalking LOL I did not expect so many people to be travelling on a Sunday
morning Of course I am in the last carriage of the train (out of
20!!!) The seats in 2nd class are in a 2×2 configuration and fairly
spacious! You have a big tray, power source and footrest We set off on time! I am having a little brekkie snack that I bought at the
station (there are plenty of shops to grab food for your
journey!) I see a blue sky! Wohoe! It is only a five minute walk from the station to the hotel I am already able to check in and it is only 12:50 PM! I freshened up a bit and now its time to find some food! The sun came out again and so did the people sitting at the
terraces! Gives me more spanish vibes than french to be honest 😀 I wanted to film one of the cozy narrow streets but ended up
recording a near dog fight I am having lunch at a place I had already marked on goggle
maps before Salad does its job – nothing fancy The hot dog is surprsingly good! The sweet brioche like
bread gives it a unique taste Reminds me of food in Korea: slightly sweet I love these cute little posters – such a nice souvenir! Not me thinking the cheering comes from the church cause the
Priest is having a raving sunday mess ^^ Its actually street artists from around the corner 😀 I walked a little bit further and came across this community
square – its so cool! Also there is a children choir singing! Also there is a children choir singing! They even allow for graffiti artists to use the walls The weather is really not it today – but luckily I have an
“indoorsy”-plan for the evening! Alright it might look weird that I go to a french harbour
town and end up in a scottish pub to eat a chacuterie board
– but there is a reason! I am here to watch the female euro cup finals for football
(or soccer for the Americans) Unfortunately there are not many people watching it 🙁 It might not look like much but this is a huge portion, that
I think is meant to be shared! There is no way I am ending the day without a sweet treat
hehe You see the matching hearts? Luckily the weather will be better tomorrow and I am
excitied to show you this lovely french city I just love this city so much – its the perfect summer
getaway for me! I want to visit a beach I’ve never been to but first lets
have brekkie! Look at this lovely scooter from the owner! OK – I came to H&M to find a new hairclip since my beloved
one broke this morning But why do they have so many nice items here??? Hairclip – 0
New clothes – 1 seriously though a nice and tidy H&M, ZARA and co just hit
different! Rockfish Weatherwear ballerina dubes?? 😀 Alrighty – I changed into my beachwear! Dress – A.P.C
Hat – Satur Look at this doggo living the life! OMG these are kids on baby sail boats! So cute! Alrighty, my plan is to follow the harbour and that should
take me to the beach! I am walking past a maritime museum – never realised buoys
are so big! LOL Yeah well, somehow I ended up in a industrial area and lost
the harbour Wondering if I take one of those rental bikes someone
working in this building will have to walk home? AHA! So this is the path I was supposed to take ^^ Ahhh I love a sandy beach! Nothing better than reading a good book and having ice cream
on a beach day! I never thought about it but this is how you get boats into
water: with a boat elevator! Still there chilling hehe After two hours at the beach (and a much nicer walk back) I
want to make use of the hotel pool! I truly can’t complain I am wandering along weird roads again My plan is to grab some items for a hotel room dinner and
there is supposed to be a bigger supermarket nearby – but
this just looks like the end of the city LOL Me wondering if I am lost – AGAIN Not lost BUT: this is not a normal supermarket .. its only
made for pre-orders and car pick ups NGL I am pretty hangry now and have to walk up all these
stairs to get back to the city centre … While thinking of what I want to eat now I remembered that
this place is open every day! Realising that this is the second day in a row I eat some
sort of hot dog (which I normally never eat!) Good stuff! I actually like this one more than yesterday’s! Def need a bit more food and I am eyeing some seafood! So much work though ^^ YUM! This would be a perfect spot to watch the sunset! And to fish as it seems Couldn’t end the day without a sweet! Fried dough paired with sugar – is there anything better? Perfect to end this day! I am starting the day with a coffee and a sweet bread before
heading to (the island) Île de Ré I have the perfect spot to people watch (in a non creepy
way) I am strolling through some shops before taking the bus (the
island is connected with the mainland by a bridge) Such a cute little shop nested in a even cuter alleyway! But still no hairclip 🙁 The bus station is behind the main train station I am actually running a bit late and the bus will depart in
5 minutes There was sales staff at the bus station and a return ticket
is only 4,50€ This beach located next to the town “Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré” is
my absolute favourite! I had such a lovely afternoon here! I have two priorities once i am back in La Rochelle: shower
all the sand and sunscreen off and: I am (again) so hungry and opted for a burger placel OMG I think this is one of the best burgers I had in a while! *nod of approval* Hahha it says: I have sauce – everywhere! Ahhh – showered and fed and in bed with my bathrobe! Life
can be good and I see you tomorrow! I am vibing to Blackpinks new song Jump right now (I highly
recommend it to motivate you to exercise hehe!) The gym is small but I have it to myself and for one
training session it works ok! Ok this was supposed to be a calm morning before taking a
ferry to Île d’Oléron but I made a big calculation error Due to the tide going out no ferries can approch the island Once the information desk told me I started sprinting across
town and now this little bridge is up to let a boat pass (I
have 7 min before the last ferry departs) Come onnnn – hurry hurry hurry guys! I see quite a long line so that gives me hope that I’ll make
it! I feel like this bridge is mocking me and going extra slow! (In the ticket office and the sales person told me their
computers are very slow today) LOLOLOL Good way to practice patience I guess^^ More sprinting and huffing and puffing But I made it in time YAY! Obviously all seats for outside were apready gone but no way
my late butt is complaining about this! The ferry ride is about an hour and actually there are still
plenty of seats available What is it with me and taking random paths to get to places
😀 My phone says this is the way to go but i dunno, does not
look like a bike track to me Slightly creepy ngl but luckily I have an e-bike and can
sprint through this path! With 3 percent of phone battery I made it back to the bike
drop-off place and now I am treating myself to a cold beer
hehe My conclusion is that I actually prefer Île de Ré over Île
d’Oléron! Whilst today was nice, Oleron often felt much more touristy
to me (even tough people told me it would be the opposite) If you can only visit one of the two islands I would
recommend Île de Ré! I went back to the hotel to freshen up and pack, given I
travel to Bordeaux tomorrow! I am at a bao place that has excellent ratings! Cuties! Best sign to figure out if an asian place is authentic:

around LOL That will be me soon! Yaaaas! Ah that soup inside – so wholesome! And some good old deep fried chicken – nothing can go wrong
with this really! I actually have one last activity planned for tonight but it
will not start until 11:00 PM so I’ll need to kill some
time First part of killing time involves me charging my phone in
the street cause I was not able to charge it much today
(don’t judge please, ok?) I was unsure what to do but had this cocktail bar saved on
google, so I am giving it a try Call me naive but I am only realising now that I am in a gay
bar It does not really matter to me, since I believe we love who
we love BUT it is kinda ironic given where my next activity
will be! This cocktail is a 12/10 !!! wow! Honestly, I will come back here next time! Look how nicely
the bartender prepares the cocktails! Ok – let me show you where I am headed now: A church – LOL You think someone in there is juding me for where I was
before? Yeah – the red says it all.. In all seriousness though: love who you want to love and
believe in what you want to believe – as long as we do not

church and it already looks amazing! This was an incredible way to end this part of my summer
trip! Highly recommended! This is the end of my La Rochelle vlog and I truly hope you
