[Music] welcome to our hotel guide for the Alexander the Great Beach Hotel in Papos Cyprus we spent 10 days in this beautiful beachfront hotel and have created this video to give you a sneak peek of the hotel and help you make the most of your own stay in this video we’ll walk you through all of the facilities on offer at Alexander the Great from the four swimming pools and five restaurants to the common areas rooms spa and gym the food really is something special at this hotel and was undeniably a highlight of our visit throughout the guide we’ll share our thoughts and we’ll tell you a few travel tips we learned during our stay pull up a sun lounger order a cocktail and let us take you on a guided tour [Music] the front entrance of Alexander the Great Hotel is small and unassuming but well-maintained a striking statue of Alexander the Great greets you as you drive into the main entrance there’s also a small car park which is free of charge for hotel guests [Music] enter the hotel and you’ll be greeted by warm and friendly staff and a grand lobby area the decor and common areas at Alexander the Great are smart sophisticated and very clean the overall design of the hotel is more classical than modern which is perfectly fitting for the Greek royalty theme [Music] the main pool area at the hotel is a spacious open area with plenty of sun lounges it has a series of jet pools a large jacuzzi and a swim up bar best of all all sun lounges are reservable book a lounger on arrival and you’ll have exclusive use of it during your whole trip when we visited the main pool had a very relaxed vibe though there are a few pool games mid-after afternoon [Music] the next pool on offer at the hotel is an indoor spa pool this is the only heated pool at the hotel so you can use it year round it’s a good spot for families with kids or if you want to do a few laps of the pool in a quiet environment [Music] overlooking the indoor pool you’ll find a well equipped fitness center we had a couple of workouts during our visit and were impressed at the variety of equipment on offer it has plenty of free weights strength training machines and cardio equipment [Music] the third hotel facility in this area is an adult only spa it’s a perfect place to relax and unwind offering a diverse menu of facials massages and salon treatments we had a couple’s massage and facial during our stay and loved every minute of it [Music] we’re not done with swimming pools just yet the third and fourth pool at Alexander the Great are right next to each other there’s a small kids splash pool with a water feature there’s also a separate adults only area with a shallow jet massage pool this is probably the quietest relaxation area in the hotel [Music] before we head indoors and show you the rooms we can’t miss a star attraction at the hotel the beach alexander the Great Hotel is right on the famous Pathos Beach Prominard the grass area has plenty of sun lounges to relax on you can also walk down the stairs to a small sandy beach where you’ll find more lounges for hotel guests this was one of our favorite areas to relax with a drink and enjoy sunset [Music] the hotel has a variety of room options including family rooms and suites with private plunge pool we opted for a C view standard room and were very happy with our choice admittedly rooms are a little old and could do with some updates however the quality of furnishings tiles linen and room service is some of the best we’ve experienced in hotel we recommend booking a CV room with balcony if you can the view is well worth the price [Music] we’ve now reached our favorite part of the video the restaurants and food for a relatively small hotel we were surprised to learn that Alexander the Great has five dining options cafe Royale Buffet Restaurant is a main buffet restaurant where you have breakfast it’s also open for buffet lunches every day of the week and dinner on selected nights we found the food quality and variety on offer at Cafe Royale to be excellent for a hotel buffet in fact it was some of the best food we’ve had in a hotel and we’ve been to a lot of hotels [Music] roxan is another buffet restaurant in the hotel it’s only open for dinner on specific nights of the week the atmosphere at Roxan is more sophisticated and elegant than the main buffet but the food it serves up is just as good both buffets run a themed 7-day menu [Music] seven Orchids is one of the three alakart restaurants on offer in our opinion it’s also the best it serves up a selection of high-end Asian fusion dishes from sushi noodle dishes and curries to unique mixes of seafood and fish dishes created by the chef seven Orchids has outdoor seating so it’s a great place to book for a sunset dinner this was our favorite restaurant at Alexander the Great and we recommend it for anyone that loves Asian food [Music] next up is Lemonaki Tavern an alakart restaurant that serves up a selection of Greek and Criot mezz dishes are served family style and include a selection of breads dips grilled meat and fish and traditional recipes lemonaki was our least favorite restaurant at the hotel but it was still pretty good it has tough competition [Music] last but not least is Gary Baldi a fine dining Italian restaurant the intimate setting dimly lit tables and refined dishes at this restaurant make it the top rated option it’s also quite difficult to get a reservation so be sure to book before you arrive at the hotel gary Baldi serves up a multicourse tasting menu with inclusive drinks the food quality and service is excellent [Music] if you like to enjoy a drink on holiday Alexander’s Bar is a place to visit night or day it’s a small bar area attached to the hotel lobby it’s a quiet spot for a coffee during the day but it has a lively atmosphere after 9:00 p.m the bar has live music on selected nights of the week [Music] [Music] if you like to watch some entertainment on holiday you’ll be pleased to know that Alexander the Great offers a weekly schedule of cabaret shows singing dancing and a magician evening entertainment is managed by the hotel’s Canaka Allstars team and takes place in an outdoor stage area we watched a few shows during our visit and really enjoyed them [Music] other facilities on offer at the hotel include a small gift and convenience shop which is located near the hotel reception area there’s also a tour booking desk where you can book day trips or meet your travel rep if you’re traveling with kids you’ll be pleased to know the hotel also has a kids club it operates throughout the day and whilst it was very quiet during our visit our niece and nephew still had a great time taking part in the many activities they offer [Music] we’ve reached the end of our
