How to spend a day in Marseille – food spots & things to do #marseille #travel #marseillefood
Marseilles is one of the most underrated foodie destinations and if you’re planning to visit, here’s how you can spend a perfect day in Marseilles with the best food spots and things to do. Your morning in Marseilles is going to start the hotel with a French breakfast. We stayed at the industrial but very trendy Mama Shelter Hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the old port. And this was a perfect base to explore Marseilles. You’ll take the metro down to the old port and catch the iconic morning fish market. I’ve never seen anything like it. Don’t forget to take a photo under that giant mirror sculpture at the Old Port while you’re there. Start your day’s activities high above the city of Marseilles at the highest viewpoint, Notraam Deagard. Here you can see views for days, the islands that we’ll be visiting a little later, and of course, pop inside the famous church to light a candle. I’d recommend picking up some Nevetses at the oldest Nevette bakery in Marseilles, the signature orange blossom scent from these boat-shaped biscuits is hypnotizing, and this makes a perfect souvenir or midm morning snack. Let’s take a boat trip to the free old islands where you can explore the archipilago. I’d spend an hour here and take the next boat back as it’s the views on the boat cruise that will take your breath away. You’ll cruise past beautiful buildings. For lunch, it’s back to the old port area for a seafood feast of mufr at cockia bistro mararin. I love sitting on the terrace and people watching. Now it’s time for a sweet treat. So, let’s try the famous black ice cream in Marseilles. It’s a secret ingredient, a lot messier than I expected. But what do you think the flavor is? You can find this at Venil Nor. Spend some time wandering the quirky streets of Paneer area of Marseilles and admire the street art. If you have some space, pick up a flavored Meline from La Madeline Deany, where I also tried a delightful canal de Marseilles. When a merse, dinner in Marseilles simply has to be the Booya Bass. Eating Booya Bass is an experience in itself as it’s usually served over two courses and so much fun. My advice is skip the starters as this is one huge portion of seafood. I recommend trying Booya Bass at Restaurant La Mer down by the old port. Head to my travel blog for more Marseilles travel tips.
