Valencia’s Best Kept Secrets and Must-See Tourist Places
[Music] What’s that? Ah, Valencia, another beautiful city I managed to visit. My name is Marina. Welcome to my holiday addict channel and I will take you on a short trip around this beautiful city. [Music] The city of art science. If you come to Valencia, a visit to the city of art and science is just must. I would recommend to start the exploration of Valencia with this place because it’s a little away from the old town and other main attractions. Both of the Valencia architect Santiago Kalatraa several buildings has become icon in the city. It is a scientific cultural leisure complex covering around 2 kilometers of the former riverbed of the river Tura. You don’t need to pay to walk around this fantastic place, but you will need the tickets to enter the hemispheric, the science museum, and the oceanographic. And you can buy them separately for the building that you would like to see or combine for all of them. [Music] Be sure to plan your trip to the city of art science because there is a lot to see. Valencia Aquarium Shenographic is the largest aquarium in Europe and the fifth largest aquarium in the world. You will need five to six hours to visit it. We didn’t visit this time any of the museums. Just walk around and soak up the atmosphere. Place is very futuristic. So much so that movies like Tomorrowland and Star Wars and was filmed here. [Music] the city of art science and Valencia Oldtown are about 30 40 minutes walk apart or around 20 minutes by bus or metro. You can also take a taxi which affordable and will get you there in about 15 minutes. I strongly recommend to walk because you can see the other parts of the city you would normally not visit and it would be a miss. Just a random tree with all the mandarins. Look at those cool. [Music] You can end up to find a Kasa Carlos Rio, Valencia’s weirdest house. You either love it or hate it. This is the strangest house in Valencia for sure. When I discovered this building, I hardly knew where to look. The facade is adored with male genitals depicted in both 2D and 3D, and women with three breasts are staring at you. [Music] Make sure you find Kasa Judy near Rafa, a trendy neighborhood in Valencia. John Gardiola Martinez and Valencian architect built this house in 1930. The building’s name Casa Judia or Jewish house come from the style of David at its entrance. The Ralfa neighborhood itself boast many art galleries, vintage shops and cafes. [Music] Thank you. [Music] Love you. [Music] We were very lucky to stay in Valencia while was a traditional dancers in region costumes in one of the squares. Not very often you have a chance to see it and you have a chance to take a very cool photos. [Music] [Music] The sun is going down, so it’s time for dinner and a nice Spanish wine. We had a grilled cuttlefish sardini pata brows [Music] in the night time. There are plenty going on around the center of the city. We had a great first day in Valencia. Just about to go back to our hotel, but we’re still a little packish. We are just on this square. If you go around, you will see in the corner just over there takeaway place. [Music] After eating all this delicious Spanish food and Spanish wine, we decide to get some type of Spanish pastry. I didn’t really understand how it’s called. It’s a $6.95 for two of those different flavor and the beer the warm it up. M Oh my god, this is lovely. Oh, this is a burger flavor. It’s really nice. Look, it’s all like a chopped meat. It’s like a burger in a pastry. M. Oh yeah, you don’t need to pay €30 for pella. It’s actually really tasty. So, and this one, no way would taste kebab. Again, full of meat. Tastes like spicy kebab in a pastry. But burger is really nice. It’s really hot, really lovely. And we wash down with the beer. And it’s very nice. But if you get a meal, you get two pastries and then you get beer for euro. You can’t go wrong. And it’s really, really lovely. So, I don’t understand how they called. So, if you know, please let me know in the comments. And of course, don’t forget to like my video and subscribe to my channel. [Music] Day two started with visiting the Sranos Towers. Las Turus deerranos or sirranos towers for short are one of the few remaining gates of Valencia medieval wall built in Valencian Gothic style between 1392 and 1398. The towers were designed to be defensive structure at the one of the busiest city gate. They were saved from demolition when the city walls were knocked down in 1865 and used as prison for noil people between 1586 and 1887. I highly recommend to climb up all those stairs because views from the tower are magnificent. You know the saying, the best things in life are free and this is one of those. You can go up on this tower absolutely free of charge and enjoy stunning views. By the way, don’t forget to like this video and subscribe to my channel. [Music] When you’re wandering around Oldtown, don’t miss a very cute cat’s house. Behind this wall is a cat sanctuary for stray cats. Unfortunately, I cannot see any cats there. I really wish I could. [Music] This absolutely cool cafe was founded in 1994 by Mark Barachina and Manuel Castella. It was born out of almost like a madness of creativity and innovation. The interior of the cafe is decorated in neo barac style with a mix of classic and barack pieces and it’s known for its cocktails. But we decided to settle for a piece of cake and a coffee and it was good. Yeah, but this is a great choice. [Music] Theateria, the Santa Catalina located next to the church of Santa Catalina. It is one of the oldest in Valencia. It was founded in 1830 and it’s still run by the fourth generation of the Gagago family. Hata, one of the Spain’s most famous non-alcoholic drinks, is originated from tiger nuts, which aren’t actually nuts at all. They are roots of wetland plant called a sji. I’m not a big fan of it, but if you would like to try it, you definitely should try it here. This is the best place in the city for it. [Music] San Nicholas dear and San Pedro Martin Valencia Church dating back to 13th century. This magnificent church has roots dating back to the 13th century. Originally built shortly after Christian reconquest, it combines Gothic architecture with stunning Baroque decorations. Named after two saints, St. Nicholas the body, the inspiration for Santa Claus, and St. Pedro Martin, the church reflects century of devotion, change, and artistic evolution. What truly takes your breath away is the interior. The ceiling is covered with over 2,000 square meters of frescos, which tell the story of the lives of two saint. Its scale and beauty have earned it nickname, Valencian 16 Chapel. If you want to visit only one church when you’re there, this should be the one. [Music] When you browse the streets in Valencia, those miss this extremely skinny building. It holds the record for the narrowest facade in Europe. Measuring only 107 cm 42 in wide li stretcher narrow one could be considered the narrowest house in Europe and maybe in the world. Oh, [Music] that [Music] Valencia’s Cathedral. There is a quite an interesting fact about it. You can get married inside obviously this cathedral, but waiting list is about two to three years. So, a lot of girls put their name even if they don’t even have a boyfriend. So they they’re hoping that in two two to three years they can found a boyfriend, fianc and get married to this cathedral. And it’s happened quite often. So don’t worry if you have an old boyfriend. Come over, put your name down. You never know in two or three years you might will have one and you will get married in Valencia’s Cathedral. Valencia Cathedral, one of the city’s most important religious landmark. Building an ancient Roman temple that was later a mosque, the Cathedral of Valencia is a Gothic style building. Also, they preserve many elements from different periods. It’s famous for housing the Holy Grail. According to tradition, the Holy Grail made its way to Valencia after a long journey that began in Jerusalem. The Holy Grail, a legendary artifact, the cup used by Jesus at the last supper. The relic was safeguarded by St. Peter and later brought to Spain, eventually finding refugees in Valencia’s royal palace. After centuries of pilgrimage, the Holy Grail was placed in Valencia Cathedral. While its anticity remain debated, the true wonder of Holy Grail lies not just in its physical existence, but in enduring guesses and the stories woven around it. If you’re familiar with Dan Brown books like Dainci Code, you know what I’m talking about. [Music] Another of the cathedral’s treasure is the Renaissance frescos of the main altar which were discovered only 10 years ago by removing the baro wall that covered them. In addition to the cathedral museum exhibits up to the 90 works of different styles, Gothic, Renaissance, mannerist. The collection include pieces of bayala and Goya. behind [Music] me. Cas Valencia. And look at this big big big big tower. You can go up on it, but I advise you against that. It’s €250 which is not a lot but it’s 207 steps. When you start going up you can’t even stop because it’s very narrow and everybody going up and when you up you can’t see anything. There is a mesh really high mesh view is obstructed. Even if you decide to take a picture you have to be very careful because you have a very high risk of drop your phone you know and lose it. So uh advise you against it. Save yourself €250 by instead nice cup of coffee. [Music] I can see your eyes. [Music] Valencia has so much to offer that we did not even notice how the second day flew by. We had a fedora for dinner. Very valencian dish similar to pella but instead of rice use short thick noodles. Very tasty. After the stroll around evening Valencia we off to get to sleep and get ready for our last day. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Poe de las Flores or flower bridge across the Jardin deluria is decorated with 27,000 flower pots along its side. Flowers may vary through the season but are typically red, white and pink geraniums. Great place for selfies and insta pics. Wow, look at this huge big tree. Oh my god. This is It’s like remind me like feet of the dragon. And that one is big as well. That side huge. It’s a very strange apartment block. Does it really look Spanish to me? I don’t know how it look, but not Spanish. So today is the 7th of April. And it’s hot and I mean hot hot hot like summer hot hotter than in England summer hot. So I really recommend you if you come to city travel Valencia specifically or Barcelona come in April maybe later latest latest latest May because I think if you come here in June July August it’s going to be an absolutely unbearable and the square is very very very pretty. We are on the way to City Hall because it was closed for the past 2 days. So, we’re hoping it’s open today. Wow. City Hall. Finally, we could get here. Saturday and Sundays was was closed. And it’s a free entry. And we have a look what is look like inside. Is it worth all this walk on the heat? Let’s see. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] I have mentioned it before. I don’t know if you’ve seen my previous videos. I am in city hall and this is where they all have government discussions and stuff like this. Entry is free. Come in, look around. And I love it because in Russia everything is closed. You have to show passport that you’ve got a passport that you’ve got a passport and unless you authorized you cannot. People who been voted by people completely block themselves from other people. But here look freedom to look around and I love it. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Today is Monday morning and you can see Valencia Central Market Life is beating. It’s the heart of the city. And all the stores here, all this market stalls, it’s like a blood for this market. Lots of people. And if you in Valencia, it’s really must see. Even if you don’t want to buy anything or you don’t want to eat there, it’s a great experience to look around. The Central Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe. Known for its modernist architecture, vibrant atmosphere, and diverse selection of fresh food, it has more than 250 stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables, especially orange, tomatoes, and beans, meat, cheese, spices, nuts, fish, seafood, just some of the products on offer. [Music] Did you know Valencia is the birthplace of Paella? [Music] Size of this peppers huge. Just look my hands. [Music] Look at this size of this grapes and the strawberries. They look so tasty. [Music] Whether you want to buy products or just enjoy the cuisine, the Central Market is a magical place. Don’t miss out. But please note, the market only open until 300 p.m. and closed on Sundays and holidays. [Music] [Laughter] [Music] Lonia, the silk exchange UNESCO wall heritage is located in the center of the city in front of the central market. Built between 1482 and 1533, this group of buildings was originally used for trading in silk, hence its name, the Silk Exchange. The building also includes tower and orange tree courtyard. [Music] something. [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh, more steps. More steps. More steps. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] In honor of the Valencian curamic industry, the Gonzalez Marty National Museum of Curamics is Located in what is considered to be the best example of Baroack architecture in Spain, the museum house the largest national collection of kamics and include pieces by Picasso. You can also find merchandise from the silk roots. Even if you don’t want to go inside, it’s an amazing building outside.
